
Railways announce special trains and crowd management plan for Shrawani mela

As many as 17 pairs of Shrawani Mela special trains will operate from various parts of the state and beyond, including cities like Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur, and Muzaffarpur, ensuring safe and comfortable transport for devotees, said Danapur divisional railway manager (DRM) Jayant Kumar Choudhary.
According to Choudhary, to prevent long queues and facilitate smoother ticketing operations, additional unreserved and reserved ticket counters will come into operation at key railway stations.
Mobile ticket vans and UTS mobile app services are also being promoted.
"Station staff will be deployed in larger numbers to manage the crowd, with regular announcements on the public address system to guide pilgrims about train schedules, platforms and safety precautions. Daily cleanliness drives will be intensified across key stations. Extra housekeeping staff and mechanised cleaning systems are being used to maintain hygiene in waiting areas, platforms and restrooms.
Provision of safe drinking water through additional water kiosks will be ensured, while temporary food stalls by IRCTC are also being set up," the DRM said.
East Central Railway (ECR) chief public relations officer (CPRO) Saraswati Chandra said special emphasis will be laid on punctuality, with a dedicated control room monitoring their movement in real-time. Railway Protection Force and Govt Railway Police personnel are being deployed in large numbers to maintain law and order.

Margao: The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation ( IRCTC ) announced the launch of a special Ashta Jyotirlinga pilgrimage tour aboard the Bharat Gaurav train, departing Margao on Aug 5. The package, priced from Rs 23,880 per person, offers hassle-free access to the Jyotirlinga temples during the Shravan month. The tour caters to families, groups, and solo travellers. 'Our goal is to make travel more accessible and enjoyable, ensuring every trip is memorable,' said Gaurav Jha, group general manager of IRCTC's west zone. The package includes train travel in mixed-composition coaches with sleeper and AC tiers, off-board excursions by bus, hotel accommodation, meals, tour guides, and travel insurance. The Bharat Gaurav trains feature Indian cultural motifs, infotainment systems, CCTV cameras, and well-equipped pantry cars, accommodating 600-700 passengers.

According to the IRCTC officials, since the inauguration of the Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya, the religious and cultural tourism has got a huge boost as devotees from different walks of life are visiting these places with a lot of interest. 'Since the inauguration, this is the 5th Ramayan tour which we are holding and all our previous tours received encouraging response from the travellers and pilgrims,' an IRCTC official said. When Will The Yatra Begin? This tour, 'Shri Ramayana Yatra' will start from July 25, 2025 and will cover over 30 destinations associated with Lord Ram starting from Ayodhya and going to Nandigram, Sitamarhi, Janakpur, Buxar, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Chitrakoot, Nashik, Hampi and finally Rameshwaram island in South India before returning to Delhi. Tour Costing: The tour will cost Rs 1,17,975 per person for 3 AC, Rs 1,40,120 per person for 2 AC and Rs 1,66,380 for 1 AC class cabin and Rs 1,79,515 for 1 AC coupe.
