New Balance has been pushing the boundaries of styles and trends since its inception, but the last few years has really seen them go all-in on some of their performance brands. While Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani headlines their best-selling baseball and lifestyle lines, incoming Dallas Maverick Cooper Flagg is also drawing eyes to NB in the basketball space. Veteran New Balance athlete 76ers' Tyrese Maxey is another marquee star, taking his turn with an upcoming signature pack of sneakers. Tyrese Maxey first signed to New Balance back in January 2023, joining athletes like Nuggets' Jamal Murray and Kings' Zach LaVine as the initial crop to make the switch over to New Balance. Clippers' Kawhi Leonard led the charge in 2018 when he inked his deal, becoming the brand's first big-name signee and releasing four signature models since. While Maxey doesn't have his own signature silhouette just yet, he's been favoring the Hesi Low series over the last season. In addition to his own performance ensemble, the colorway will make a lifestyle jump to the 1906R as well. Tyrese Maxey x New Balance Hesi Low v2 / New Balance 1906R The Hesi Low v2 is a performance basketball model based in a New Balance FuelCell midsole. The shoes are marketed for speed and explosiveness, much like Maxey's skills as a player. The shoes are made from synthetic uppers and feature a TPU heel plate for support. The iridescent New Balance logo gives this clean white colorway an extra pop to accent the complimentary colors. Advertisement The 1906R is more of a utility lifestyle sneaker, suitable for walking, hiking, and the outdoors. Based in NB's treaded outsoles, the colorway is subtly placed over the white underlaying material, accented by yellow contrast stitching along the TPU panels. The shoes feature light blue hues on the lace stays and 'N' logo, finishing another very clean look for this shoe. The two-shoe pack is set to release July 31, 2025 with the Hesi Low v2 coming in at $120 and the 1906R at $160. ‘Superman' Dominates Box Office With $122 Million Opening
'Superman' opened with an impressive $122 million at the domestic box office, Warner Bros. told multiple outlets Sunday, after landing the year's second-largest opening day Friday, with the film on track to gross over $217 million internationally. The film's opening day Friday was the second-largest of the year—grossing $56.5 million, placing it ahead of Disney's 'Lilo and Stitch' but just behind 'A Minecraft Movie,' also released by Warner Bros., which opened in April to $57.1 million. 'Superman' was directed by DC Studios co-chair James Gunn, and its early success marks a victory for Gunn and fellow co-chair Peter Safran's reported ambitious plans to revitalize the brand and release more films and television shows in the DC Extended Universe. The two massive openings are good news for Warner Bros., whose stock fell to a historic low in 2024 after a year of poor box office sales—the company is currently pursuing a plan to split with Discovery only three years after a blockbuster merger in 2022. The other big hits over the weekend were films that similarly scored big other big openings over the past few weeks—'Jurassic World Rebirth' sold an estimated $40 million this weekend and 'F1' held on in third place with an estimated $13 million, Deadline reported. However, fans and critics have mostly responded positively to the latest installation of the character. 'Superman' earned 82% positive reviews from critics and 93% positive reviews from fans as of Sunday afternoon, according to Rotten Tomatoes. 'Superman' is shaping up to be the first hit for the comics brand in years. The last major hit for a DC character was 'The Batman' in 2022, which grossed around$134 million on its opening weekend. In the years since, DC has produced a series of flops: 'Shazam! Fury of the Gods' opened with only $30 million and 'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom' opened with only $27 million, both in 2023. 'The Flash' fared only a bit better the same year, grossing $55 million over its opening weekend. 'Superman' also surpassed the opening weekend of 'Man of Steel,' the last franchise reboot, directed by Zack Snyder and starring Henry Cavill. Snyder's take on the iconic DC Comics character grossed around $117 million at the domestic box office when it was released in June 2013. ‘Wicked' Broadway Cast Soundtrack Reaches New Sales Milestone

A prequel musical to The Wizard of Oz, the original Broadway version of Wicked starred Menzel as Elphaba, who is destined to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Chenoweth as Glinda, who will become the Good Witch of the North. Wicked premiered on Broadway on Oct. 30, 2003, after its preview run, which began three weeks earlier on Oct. 8. Wicked went on to capture three Tony Awards, including Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical for Menzel. Then, in 2024, director Jon M. Chu adapted the musical for the big screen with part one of Wicked — starring Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda — with the second part, Wicked: For Good, set for a Nov. 21 release. As anticipation builds for the release of Wicked: For Good, the Wicked franchise has received good news about its Broadway iteration. According to Playbill, the original Broadway cast recording has just been certified 4X Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. The RIAA certification equates to four million copies of the soundtrack sold in the U.S. Playbill noted that another 1 million copies of the Wicked Broadway cast recording have been sold internationally. A New Picture Edition Double Vinyl Of The 'Wicked' Broadway Soundtrack Is Being Released In October To celebrate the new 4X Platinum RIAA certification of the soundtrack — which is formally titled Wicked (Original Broadway Cast Recording) — a two-album picture edition vinyl is being released on Oct. 3, Decca Broadway announced. Side A of the first vinyl will feature a photo of production's poster art and side B will feature a photo of Kristen Chenoweth as Glinda. The front side of the second vinyl will feature a photo of Idina Menzel's Elphaba, while the flip side will feature a zoetrope image that, when spinning on a turntable, produces the production's animated iconography. Decca Broadway is accepting pre-orders for the double LP, which will begin shipping on Oct. 3. A revival version of Wicked is currently playing on Broadway at the Gershwin Theatre, where the original musical version was staged in 2003. Part one of the movie musical version of Wicked is available on streaming on Peacock and for purchase or rent on video on demand, while part two, Wicked: For Good, will be released in theaters on Nov. 21.
