Coleen Nolan details 'devastating' impact of Loose Women cuts as staff in limbo
Loose Women's Coleen Nolan has described the upcoming changes and cuts at ITV as "devastating" with staff members currently living in limbo. The channel recently announced a raft of changes to its daytime schedules, including slashing the daytime panel show down to 30 weeks a year and merging the teams working on Lorraine, Loose Women and This Morning.
Now Coleen, who celebrated 25 years on the show this year, has expressed her devastation and fears about what will become of the show's behind-the-scenes staff once the changes come into force. 'The crew have become family. I've watched them grow,' she said. 'Some of our runners from back in the day are producers, married with kids. I've shared my life with them. They're in limbo, not knowing what they're going to do."
She continued, 'Loose Women isn't ending, which I'm so thankful for, but it's changing. It's going to be very different in the respect of the size of the crew, but it's still running. Which it should be – there isn't another show that celebrates and supports all women of every size, age, whatever. But it's heartbreaking to see some of my colleagues not knowing what they're going to do. Many of them have young families and mortgages.'
Sources previously told the Mirror there wouldn't be any 'radical changes' to the Loose Women panel, but there are expected to be a number of redundancies in the behind-the-scenes crew.
Lorraine Kelly's daily show is also being cut to 30 minutes each day and to 30 weeks of the year, with Good Morning Britain running until 9.30am to fill the time. GMB will also be extended until 10am on the weeks Lorraine is off air entirely.
Coleen, 60, joined the series in 2000, joining Jane Moore, Kaye Adams, Nadia Sawalha and Ruth Langsford, and told Mirror's Notebook magazine she had never experienced anything like the current changes.
'You read about it all the time – a chain store's shutting down and 300 people are affected,' she said. 'You go, 'Oh that's awful. Anyway, what do you want for dinner?', because it doesn't directly affect you.
'I've never been so close to it. It's made me realise how much this is happening across the whole country at the moment and it's devastating.'
On announcing the changes, Kevin Lygo, Managing Director of ITV's Media and Entertainment Division, said the channel's daytime slate was 'a really important part of what we do' and would 'enable us to continue to deliver a schedule providing viewers with the news, debate and discussion they love from the presenters they and trust'.

He said: 'As you can see it is in desperate need of restoration. But my project, starting early next year is to restore it completely and then Liz and I will get married for a fifth time.' Noel continued to gush over Liz, explaining that the day they met 'changed his life,' and the pair appear excited to get married all over again. Noel previously revealed he is 'not sure of the way forward' after a flood ravaged his New Zealand estate. Anatural disaster on New Zealand's South Island has left them unsure of the future after floodwater wrecked their stunning home and business. The Motueka river burst its banks last week following heavy rain and has flooded Tasman and Marlborough areas. Noel uploaded a video to YouTube detailing the impact it has had on the local land. He a cknowledged him, Liz and their team were 'very fortunate' and haven't had any injuries or had their livelihood destructed. 'As you can see it is in desperate need of restoration. But my project, starting early next year is to restore it completely and then Liz and I will get married for a fifth time.' The former Deal Or No Deal presenter stressed that 'thousands of Kiwis on New Zealand's south island have suffered in this terrible disaster'. 'However, I can't conceal the fact that Liz and I are in a state of shock and at this point we're not quite sure of the way forward,' Noel added. 'You might have seen films of our beautiful vineyard setting in the Moteuka valley, however our river valley, our paradise now looks very different.' Video footage showed fast-flowing water gushing over the land. 'We've spent the last three years creating a wonderful wellness centre, it was constructed in accordance to all of the local regulations, it was about 50m away from the river bank and some 10m above the normal water level,' Noel explained. 'However this is a quite extraordinary event and our wellness centre has taken the full brunt of the torrent.' Two of the estate's treatment suites were left 'wrecked' and one was even 'torn from its foundations'. While the main building is 'covered in a thick layer of silt and mud'. Noel commented: 'Three years of hard graft destroyed in just a few hours.' The TV star acknowledged the positivity of the local community and said: 'I'm in total awe of the way in which our Kiwi neighbours have picked themselves up pulled together as a community. 'You know Kiwis always say 'Oh I'll give it a go'. And I saw one interview where some people who had had their home washed away said 'Well we'll come back and we'll rebuild our lives'.' However, the future still looks uncertain for Noel and his wife as they start to look at their next steps. 'Liz and I are not feeling sorry for ourselves but I have to say, we're not really sure of the way forward and there is one really important factor that is beyond our control,' he explained. The foundations of the highway were damaged by the flood and restrictions on accessing it could cause issues to local businesses. 'It's fair to say Liz and I now have to review our three year venture and wonder about what the future holds,' Noel said. This isn't the first time Noel and Liz have had to deal with extreme weather in New Zealand. The TV star recalled one particular incident to The Sun and recounted how an earthquake 'really shook the house'. He revealed they have experienced three earthquakes whilst living on the estate. Noel told the publication: 'During the first one, we were sitting outside with a glass of wine, and I noticed the surface of the wine rippling. 'That was a mild one. 'The biggest one really shook the house — the cutlery drawer rattled, and Liz and I each grabbed a dog and ran outside.' Fortunately, the incident didn't cause any structural damage to the property. He added: 'But, yes, earthquakes — and a dormant volcano just up the way. At least, we hope that it's dormant.' Noel described the weather as having an 'attitude' because of how severe it can get. He recalled trees falling down in strong winds, 'tropical rain' and landslips. His new documentary, Noel Edmonds' Kiwi Adventure, hit screens earlier this month on ITV and follows the couple as they navigate life together in New Zealand . The TV personality and radio presenter was best known for his stint hosting the Channel 4 game show from 2005 to 2016 when it ended, before its revival with Stephen Mulhern in 2023. But after more than 50 years on British TV and radio, Noel left the UK in 2018 with Liz to build a new life in New Zealand . The group made their entrance to 'F**king in the Bushes' before launching into their opening number 'Hello'. The packed venue erupted in applause to welcome back the legendary band. Among those in attendance were EastEnders favourite Danny Dyer and Line Of Duty star Vicky McClure. Television presenter Vernon Kay was also photographed outside the Principality Stadium. EXCLUSIVE: Noel Gallagher's ex Meg Mathews cheered him on from the audience during his Oasis comeback gig in Cardiff, but she left early - before one of the band's more painful songs Meg Mathews left Oasis' Cardiff gig early this evening - as they returned for a special and heartbreaking song. Meg had been on hand to cheer on her ex-husband, Noel Gallagher, on the first night of the tour. She was spotted arriving today, with a source telling the Mirror: "After posting about her ex-husband for weeks, Meg Mathews had a prime seat for watching the band. She was in great spirits before the set, watching Richard Ashcroft with pals." However, she left before the encore and was seen departing the show before the band came back to sing some of their biggest songs including Don't Look Back In Anger, Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova. Wonderwall may be a sore subject for Meg, as Noel had originally claimed he'd written it on a rainy Tuesday night for his girlfriend. He said back in 1996: "It's about my girlfriend, Meg Mathews. She had a company which folded and she was feeling a bit sorry for herself. The sentiment is that there was no point in her feeling down, she has to sort my life out for me because I'm in bits had the time." However, in 2002, Noel did a complete U-turn and insisted Wonderwall actually had nothing to do with Meg. He said: "The meaning of that song was taken away from me by the media who jumped on it, and how do you tell your missus it's not about her once she's read it is? It's a song about an imaginary friend who's gonna come and save you from yourself." Meg even commented about the backtrack. In 2005, she said: "All of a sudden, when I was getting divorced, he said it wasn't about me, so I don't really understand." It comes just days after Meg was forced to deny that she and Noel had decided to give their relationship another go. She had been sharing throwback snaps on social media, prompting fans to believe that they were back together following the breakdown of Noel's second marriage. Alongside the pics, fans have been desperate to see them reunite. One wrote in the comments: "Please tell us you are back together again," whilst another added: "So nice to see you still love and support your ex. So healthy to have that bond. Especially when you have a beautiful daughter together." A third shared: "Meg these pics are the best!! You'll always have a bond, you share an amazing child who is a credit to you both," with a fourth writing: "The best era, and the best couple, wish you two got back together."
