
Sunny Deol says he's nervous to play Hanuman in Ramayana; calls Ranbir Kapoor a ‘fine actor': ‘They'll do justice to the epic'
After the success of Gadar 2 and Jaat, Sunny Deol's upcoming films have fans even more excited. He will next be seen in Lahore 1947 and Ramayana. In a recent interaction, Sunny opened up about how Lahore 1947 was conceived and how Aamir Khan came on board as the film's producer.
'Aamir wanted to produce Lahore 1947'
Speaking about Lahore 1947, Sunny Deol told Zoom that Aamir approached him to be part of the project. He said, 'This subject has been with Raj (Rajkumar Santoshi, director Lahore 1947) and me for many years. We had been trying to make a film on this for many years, but it wasn't happening. After Gadar 2, it became possible, and Aamir came to me straight away and told me that he would want to do this film, and I was very happy.'
He added, 'Raj and I have given three films in the past that had intensity and depth of characters. So, that's what this subject has definitely. It is a play that has been adapted into a film and we will try and release it as soon as possible. We were waiting for Aamir's film to release.'
Sunny Deol also spoke about playing the role of Hanuman in Ramayana and revealed that he will soon begin shooting for the film. He said, 'Definitely, I'm playing the role and it will be exciting and fun. I'm going to be shooting very shortly. I think it's going to be great and beautiful. As a matter of fact, after this, I'm going to go and watch a little bit of what they've done.'
Sunny admitted that he is nervous about shooting for Ramayana. He said, 'Nervousness and fear are always there, but that's the beauty of it because you have to find within you how will you take up the challenge.'
Sunny Deol also spoke about the scale, magnitude, and high budget of Ramayana, saying, 'I am sure the producers are doing a great job as they are going to bring out the supernatural things properly on the screen. I keep my fingers crossed and hope that they are nothing less than what Hollywood has. Ramayan has been made so many times, and when this film comes on the screen and the way all the actors are involved in it, I'm sure they'll do justice to the epic, and people will be satisfied and they will enjoy the film.'
He also shared his experience working alongside Ranbir Kapoor and said, 'I think it's going to be great because he's such a fine actor. He always commits fully to any project he takes up.'
