Four Recruits, Kayd Coffman, Jack Lansing III, Tyren Wortham, and Jamal Rule, Will Visit Michigan State in Final Weekend of Official Visits originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The final weekend of official visits is here and it's the last chance to get recruits on campus before the fall. Michigan State has been on a recruitment roll and is currently No. 26 overall in the NCAA with its class of 2026.

June has been a huge boost of confidence for head coach Jonathan Smith and the Spartans with 14 of its recruits committing in this month alone.
Now with the last weekend upon East Lansing, here are the quartet of visitors Michigan State will host.

Quarterback Kayd Coffman
Coffman is a four-star recruit that's already committed to the Spartans. The No. 259 overall recruit is the 19th quarterback from his class and the No. 4 pick out of Michigan.
He is the only quarterback from the class of 2026 that's committed to Michigan State. His development with the Spartans and trajectory for the program seem to be bright with Coffman expected to step up into a major role during his time with Smith.

Linebacker Jack Lansing III
The three-star defenseman is another Michigan State commit set to visit over the weekend. He's considered the No. 163 linebacker and No. 42 recruit from Michigan.
While Lansing III is not a headlining recruit by any means as he's received a walk-on offer, his visit will allow him to get a feel for the program and environment.
Wide receiver Tyren Wortham
Unlike the other two recruits, Wortham is not a MSU commit. He's currently decided on UCF, but did not cancel his official visit with the Spartans.
The wide receiver is a No. 387 overall, three-star recruit, No. 59 in his position, and the No. 57 athlete out of Florida.

Wortham's visit will be an opportunity for Smith to potentially flip his commitment as he's not 100 percent locked in on the Knights.
Running back Jamal Rule
Rule is another three-star recruit. He's ranked as the No. 47 running back and No. 33 pick out of North Carolina. Michigan State is the final school he has left to visit, and was a last minute interest of Smith's.
The rising senior is currently not committed anywhere, but has a top five list of finalists that includes the Spartans. A final visit with Michigan State will help Rule determine if he belongs in East Lansing or with North Carolina State, Syracuse, Virginia Tech, or Nebraska.

It's possible that Smith has other recruits that will be on campus, as commits, like Jordan Vann and Tristan Comer, did not have the dates of their visits announced.
However, looking at the solidified group of four that will be on campus, it will be important for Smith to maintain the two already committed. This is especially so for Coffman, though it's unlikely the quarterback will decommit to look elsewhere.

Nick Kurtz becomes first MLB rookie to hit four home runs in one game

FacebookTweetLink Nick Kurtz made baseball history on Friday night, becoming the first MLB rookie ever to hit four home runs in a single game, during the Athletics' 15-3 win over the Houston Astros. The 22-year-old's performance – one of the greatest in MLB history by any player, rookie or otherwise – also saw him rack up 19 total bases, tying the major league record set by Shawn Green in 2002. 'It still really hasn't sat in that it's actually just happened,' a near-speechless Kurtz told reporters afterward. 'That I had a game like that. It's stuff that you don't even dream about, because it doesn't really happen. So it's an unbelievable feeling.' Kurtz went six-for-six, going deep off each of the Astros pitchers in the second, sixth, eighth and ninth innings. He also added in a single in the first, as well as a 381-foot, fourth-inning double which would have been a home run in six MLB ballparks, per ESPN. He finished with six runs and eight RBIs. 'It's arguably the best game I've ever watched from a single player,' Athletics manager Mark Kotsay said afterward. 'This kid continues to have jaw-dropping moments.' Kurtz is just the 20th player in major league history – and the first in franchise history – to go deep four times in a single game. He did so far earlier in his career than anyone else has ever managed. Before Friday, Mark Whiten's four-homer outing in his 425th MLB game in 1993 was the record, per ESPN. Kurtz achieved the feat in just his 66th appearance. At the age of 22, he is also by far the youngest player ever to do so, surpassing Pat Seerey who was 25 when he hit four home runs for the Chicago White Sox on July 18, 1948. Kurtz's historic night came with his parents and godparents watching on from the stands at Daikin Park. 'This is the first time my godparents have been here, so they probably have to come the rest of the year, to every single game,' Kurtz said afterward. Having been picked fourth overall by the A's in the 2024 Draft, the speed at which Kurtz has become one of the league's top hitters is remarkable. The Pennsylvania native has 23 home runs this season and is now on a 12-game hitting streak, during which he has racked up 20 extra-base hits.
