Gautam Budh Nagar: 5 new police stations get ISO certification for quality
An ISO committee assessed these stations across parametres like physical infrastructure, quality assurance, documentation processes, and public interface services, and found them fully compliant and granted the ISO certification, the Gautam Budh Nagar police said in a statement.
'The initiative included a comprehensive action plan focused on improving citizen-police interactions, ensuring timely and qualitative grievance redressal, and upgrading office management systems. As part of the effort, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) were developed for all major units and functions within the police stations, including the CCCTNS (Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems) unit, IGRS (Integrated Grievance Redressal System) complaint handling, arms and ammunition maintenance, cyber desks, passport and dispatch sections, women help desks, and implementation of the new criminal laws under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita,' it added.
'International standards were applied to key domains such as law and order, crime control, emergency response, and citizen grievance redressal via the effective rollout of the Citizen Charter. In addition, police personnel stationed at these facilities underwent specialised training programmes on modern policing and public service principles,' police said.
In total, eight police stations under the Gautam Budh Nagar Police Commissionerate have now received ISO certification.
The previously certified stations comprised Expressway, Badalpur, and Knowledge Park, along with the police commissioner's office in Sector 108 and the police headquarters in Surajpur.

He was earlier suspended from his post by the State Higher Education department on Saturday following the self-immolation attempt by the victim, for failing to deal with the matter properly. The action comes amid mounting outrage and growing demand for justice in the high-profile case that has rocked Odisha's education system. The victim poured petrol and set herself ablaze in front of the principal's chamber on Saturday over alleged sexual harassment by Head of Department (HoD) Samir Kumar Sahu. The student, with over 90 per cent burn injuries, was rushed to Balasore Medical College, but was later shifted to AIIMS, Bhubaneswar, for advanced treatment. Prior to the self-immolation bid, the victim had staged a sit-in protest near the college campus demanding action against the accused HoD of the BEd department, Samir Kumar Sahu, for alleged misbehaviour. She was very upset as no action was taken against the HoD by the college authorities despite her lodging a formal complaint against Sahu. Sahu was immediately arrested by Sahadev Khunta Police after a case was registered against him under various sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including 108 (abetment to suicide), 75(1)(iii) (sexual harassment), etc. The State's Higher Education department, in the suspension order, said the principal had failed to handle the matter properly and perform his duties. He was accused of shielding Education Department's HoD Samir Kumar Sahu. 'My daughter set herself on fire minutes after coming out of the principal's room. The principal had put pressure on her to withdraw the complaint against the teacher who sexually and mentally harassed my daughter,' her father alleged. A two-member team of the Crime Branch is investigating the incident following outrage across the State. The Education department has also formed a three-member committee to inquire into the incident.

It has also been decided that the renewal of the existing number of undergraduate and postgraduate seats of six medical colleges shall not be done for the academic year 2025-26. Further, the application for increasing seats and starting new courses for both UG and PG received by the Medical Assessment and Rating Board for 2025-26 from these colleges shall be cancelled and not processed further, the statement said. 'All medical colleges/stakeholders are advised to conform strictly to the NMC Rules and Regulations and uphold the ethos of quality medical education, professionalism and public trust,' it said. Journalist Ajit Anjum booked for ‘interfering' in Bihar electoral roll revision, police say
A senior journalist has been booked on charges of interfering with Bihar's electoral roll revision and provoking communal discord, police said Monday. Ajit Anjum, an award-winning journalist, was booked under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and The Representation of Peoples Act, 1951, after he visited a poll booth in Balia on July 12. Anjum, who runs a YouTube channel, claims to have found several enumeration forms at the booth – some without photos, and others partially filled or without signatures. On a complaint from a booth level officer (BLO), Mohammed Ansrarul Haque, Anjum was booked under sections such as criminal trespass, disobeying a lawful order, preventing a public servant from doing their duty and attempting to hurt religious feelings of the BNS, as well as sections of the Representation of Peoples Act. The complainant said in the FIR: 'I, Mohammad Ansarul Haq, BLO Part No. 16145, Sahibpur Kamal Assembly constituency, was uploading counting forms from the BLO App at the Block Auditorium in Ballia on July 12, 2025. Around 9:30 am, YouTuber Ajit Anjum, his associates, and cameraman entered the auditorium without authorisation and started questioning me about the number of voters in my booth, how many forms I had distributed, and how many I had received back.' The complaint also claims that the persons asked about the number of Muslim voters and how many had their submitted papers. 'I informed them that my booth has 1,020 voters, and I had distributed forms to all and received them back. However, the YouTuber's focus was on the claim that Muslim voters were being harassed, which was completely false. The YouTuber and his team did not allow me to work for an hour, causing significant disruption to my work. Therefore, I request that action be taken against YouTuber Ajit Anjum and his associates for obstructing government work and spreading communal discord,' it said. Anjum, however, stood by his claim, saying his news report had been 'fair and unbiased'. 'I, as a conscious journalist, had shown how the Election Commission of India's rules were not being followed. I have not revealed the identity of anyone, nor have I shown any close shots of the enumeration forms. Rather than taking action against its own official they lodged an FIR against me. But I'm not one to be cowed down,' he said.
