NCM forecast: Several Saudi regions to witness temperatures 1.2 °C above average in August

RIYADH — The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) revealed on Wednesday that climate forecasts for the summer of 2025 in Saudi Arabia indicate that temperatures will be 1.2 degrees Celsius above average in several regions of the Kingdom during the month of August.
The NCM explained that probable forecasts indicate that average surface temperatures will be above average across most regions of the Kingdom during the summer of 2025. The increase is expected to reach approximately 1 degree Celsius in the regions of Riyadh, Qassim, Hail, the Eastern Province, and the Northern Borders, while the increase is expected to be less than 1 degree Celsius in the rest of the regions.
It added that the highest increase above average will reach 1.2 degrees Celsius in parts of Al-Jouf, Hail, Qassim, Tabuk, and the Eastern Province during August.
According to the center, rainfall is expected to be around average across most regions of the Kingdom. Rainfall in July and August is expected to be above average in the regions of Jazan, Al-Baha, Najran, Asir, as well as parts of Madinah, Makkah, and the southwestern parts of the Kingdom.
The NCM indicated that rainfall is expected to be around average in Riyadh and the rest of the regions.

Al-Ahsa records highest temperatures on Tuesday
Saudi Gazette report AL-AHSA — The Arabian Gulf region experienced an intense heat wave on Tuesday. Kuwait recorded the highest temperature on the planet, reaching 51.3 degrees Celsius, exceeding half the boiling point, in a worrying environmental indicator that goes beyond a mere weather phenomenon. According to Abdullah Al-Misnad, vice president of the Saudi Weather and Climate Society, Al-Ahsa and Dammam in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia recorded on Tuesday temperatures reaching 49.6 degrees Celsius and 49.3 degrees Celsius respectively, amid rising temperatures in several Gulf regions. Al-Misnad noted that five Gulf countries are among the world's hottest regions, with temperatures in more than 10 locations exceeding 48 degrees Celsius, which he described as "an alarming level." He stressed that heat is no longer just weather, but an environmental, economic, and tourism warning. He underlined the need to take a serious stance from the part of the relevant authorities and society to adapt to this new reality imposed by accelerating climate change.

NCM Issues Over 59,000 Weather Bulletins to Support Air Navigation, Safety During Hajj
The National Center for Meteorology (NCM) announced that it issued and transmitted more than 59,000 meteorological reports and data entries during the 1446 Hajj season. These efforts were aimed at supporting air navigation and ensuring flight safety by providing accurate, timely information to relevant authorities. As part of its broader operations during the pilgrimage, NCM also issued over 39,000 weather bulletins to assist agencies responsible for crowd management and pilgrim services. These measures were designed to help maintain a safe and stable environment throughout the holy sites. In addition to its operational activities, the center conducted three specialized field research studies involving more than 25 researchers and experts. These initiatives were carried out under a comprehensive operational plan developed in coordination with various authorities. NCM reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring public safety through high standards of quality and integration, in line with the Kingdom's leadership vision and the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
