Ullapool musician's Britain's Got Talent journey ends after semi-final public vote
The 32-year-old Wester Ross accordion player, whose real name is Ruairidh MacLean, failed to win over the public in a live vote.
He previously wowed the judges on the first episode of the new series of the ITV show with his rendition of Yes Sir, I Can Boogie.
And while his version of Take On Me by A-ha had the live audience on their feet dancing and singing along on Saturday night, the BGT judges were not impressed.
Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and Bruno Tonioli pressed their buzzers halfway through the show in an attempt to take him off stage – to which RuMac quipped: 'I knew this would happen.'
Fourth judge Simon Cowell stayed his hand for the entire show, however.
But, Maclean looked to have won over the judging panel with even those who had previously buzzed up on their feet clapping to the beat by the end of the song.
The judges then appraised his performance afterwards.
Cowell said: 'I didn't buzz because he got through the first round, which means he must have had three or more yes votes.
'That was better I think than your first audition.
'I think you and your agent are going to get a billion phone calls tomorrow for New Year's Eve to book you because that is exactly the type of performance people love at a party.
'I'm not a huge fan of that instrument, however, you played it really well and I loved it.
'When they buzzed you, you just got faster and faster.
'Most people's heads would go down, but you just went for it.
'You did great.'
However, other judges were not so complimentary.
Bruno Tonioli said the performance 'gave him a hangover.'
Tonioli said: 'I feel like I am having a hangover and need an aspirin.'
'But I'm telling you, definitely, definitely, insanely funny.'
Dixon added: 'In the history of being on this show, that's the first time I have given someone a red buzzer and a standing ovation at the same time.'
'Which kind of sums up how I felt about this act.
'I did tell you that I don't like the accordion, but I have to say you made that so much fun, it was so crazy, it was good!'
'It was terrible and brilliant all at the same time.'
RuMac was then unfortunately voted off, finishing in 6th place at the end of the show.
Progressing from tonight's semi-final was operatic singer and drag queen Jasmine Rice, who got the golden buzzer from Bruno Tonioli.
Meanwhile, groups Ping Ping Pang and The Blackouts went through alongside singers Vinnie McKee and Stacey Leadbitter and 11-year-old guitarist Olly Pearson.

Former Emmerdale star Kelli Hollis has revealed how much soap actors REALLY get paid and why it doesn't go as far as you'd think. The actress, 48, who played Ali Spencer in the ITV soap between 2011 and 2015, recently ditched the showbiz life and relocated to Pattaya, Thailand. And she's doing something totally different to acting and is now the owner of a cannabis shop called La Choza Pratumnak. But a fan recently asked how much soap stars are paid, to which she said: '[On] Emmerdale I explained that you get an episode fee and you're guaranteed so many episodes a year... 'So if we're saying roughly £500 and up [per episode], and you were contracted to do 90 [episodes, that's 45k, it's obviously a good wage.' She continued: 'But it's not like the "rich, rich", you'd think famous actors would be earning.' The star added: 'Now, that's that sort of middle of the road [salary]. 'I'm not going to lie when I was at Emmerdale to my knowledge, one of the highest paid actors was on a thousand pound episodes.' The telly star also highlighted some fees that people in the industry wouldn't think about. Kelli said: 'It would only be 45, but then you get a buyout, which is pretty much the same as your wage, so I'll top that up to 90. 'Then, you've got the agent's commission, which is usually 12 and a half percent," she said. 'And because you're self-employed, you have to put 40 [per cent] away for tax.' Kelli owns her 'weed bar' with her partner Matt Dawson. Speaking to LeedsLive in 2023, Kelli opened up about her business, remarking: 'We'd been to Pattaya a few times on a holiday, we did a bit of island hopping and in June they legalised marijuana and we found this really cute little shop and got really good friends with the owner and decided to basically set up our own weed shop.' She went on to say of her shop, called La Choza Pratumnak: 'I'll be honest I've smoked weed since I was about fifteen but I'm not a hard-core weed smoker, I can't do full joints and edibles and all that so it probably bodes well or I'd probably smoke all the profits! 'It's definitely not something I envisaged but we've definitely made the right choice.' She's also opened up about her products that she sells. Speaking about her weed bar, Kelli said: 'I actually don't like the feeling [of being stoned]. "But to be honest, I have become a little partial to the edibles here, obviously, because I have to test the products. "But that is not to be stoned. 'I promote ours for rest and for aches and pains for people who don't want to smoke, so I will have mine before bed.' Kelli shot to fame in the late 90s. She played Yvonne Karib in Shameless between 2004 and 2010. The star also landed roles in Waterloo Road, Ackley Bridge and Clink. In 2020 she also played Rachel Edwards in Doctors.

Sign up for the Entertainment newsletter Sign up 4 Luke Kempner missed out on £25k on a recent episode of Celebrity Catchphrase 4 Luke had been flying through the catchphrases before he got stuck on this one 4 It showed Mr Chips working out next to an apple core During the latest series of the show - hosted by Stephen Mulhern - impressionist and comedian Luke Kempner made it all the way to the Super Catchphrase. After whizzing through the first couple of catchphrases, Luke took on the starred number 11, in the hope of doubling the money of his co-stars Charlie Hedges and Jeremy Vine. He secured that relatively easily as well, but things unravelled when he got to the £25,000 catchphrase. The scene revealed Mr Chips doing sit ups next to an apple core with muscular arms lifting weights. Luke guessed 'working on his guns' before struggling to think of anything else. He said pass and moved onto the only other option on that level, but he sadly ran out of time when he was unable to get that one right too. It meant he left the show with a respectable £10,000 for his charity, as well as doubling Charlie and Jeremy's earnings from earlier in the show for their respective charities. It was then Stephen's job to reveal what the missing catchphrases had been. He explained that the gym scene was actually "core strength" as it was an apple core working out. Did you get it right? Earlier in the episode, Stephen was left red-faced after giving away an answer. The contestants then stood in silence for a second as an embarrassed Stephen clocked what he had said. Stephen Mulhern's career so far The presenter is a mainstay on various ITV shows, but how did he become one of Britain's most well-known faces? Stephen first gained an interest in magic and tricks from his father who taught him as a kid. After performing at Butlins, he became the youngest member of the Magic Circle and even made an appearance on Blue Peter in a piece about Harry Houdini. His career started in Children's TV when he presenter the show Finger Tips in 2001. After four years, he launched Tricky TV on CITV in 2005, which he presented until 2010. During this time, he was handpicked by bosses to front the ITV2 spin-off for Britain's Got Talent. He presented Britain's Got More Talent until the cancelation of the companion in 2019. But it's not all bad news for Stephen who is known for his duties on a number of quiz shows. In for a Penny, a format originally launched on Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway was launched the same year. Before, he was chosen by bosses to host Catchphrase in 2013 and has been fronting the show ever since. Other huge shows he presented for ITV included Big Star's Little Star, Rolling In It and the reboot of Deal Or No Deal. He also made regular appearances on This Morning in 'The Hub' segment between 2011 and 2014. After the Philip Schofield scandal rocked ITV, he was chosen to reunite with his former CITV co-star Holly Willoughby as the host of Dancing on Ice. Jeremy eventually broke the silence, pressing his buzzer and asking: "Sorry, what? Was that the answer?" Stephen then embarrassingly nodded and burst into fits of laughter alongside the cast and studio audience. "I have never in my life done that.
