Emmerdale's Bear Wolf in dramatic new storyline as Lisa Riley reveals shock developments for the Dingles

The Sun23-06-2025
EMMERDALE'S Bear Wolf will find himself in a dramatic new storyline, Lisa Riley has revealed.
In recent episodes of the hit ITV show, Lisa's character Mandy Dingle and partner Paddy, played by Dominic Brunt, have been voicing their concerns about Paddy's dad, Bear.

The couple have tried to help him - from arranging a doctor's appointment to giving him an old motorbike to restore, but he simply puts his strange behaviour down to 'being a pain in the bum.'
Now, after an incident at the garage that saw Bear getting very frustrated with the bike, and an altercation with Kammy Hadiq, Emmerdale fans have begun to question whether Bear has a secret health condition.
Dropping some hints about the storyline, Lisa Riley, 48, spoke to The Sun and said: 'Whatever's going on with Bear, it'll bring Mandy and Paddy closer together.
'Next week, people are going to see Paddy and Mandy getting their new home and it's all very exciting. And as new homeowners, they want to take advantage of it because they love each other and can't keep their hands off each other.
'It's their passion pad. They like to call it Paddy Towers. But Paddy is also very aware about mental health issues, so what does that mean for Bear moving forward?
'Is he a grumpy old man? Is he suffering from mental health issues? Will he have something severe as we go on? Of course, it's going to go off.'
The talented actress, who will celebrate a huge 30 years on the show next month, also spoke about the Dingles and serial killer John Sugden being part of the family.
'Mandy loves John. She's very flirty with him, and she thinks he's great for Aaron.
Lisa Riley opens up on the grief of losing her mum
'She thinks that he'll look after Aaron, yeah, and obviously with the viewers, it's so hilarious, honestly.
'When I'm in Waitrose, people go, 'Mandy, Mandy, be careful of that John' and I'm going, 'yeah, OK,' but how do you say it in a non-patronising way?
'I know as a viewer, but obviously Mandy loves him and doesn't see anything wrong with him and has no idea. And if Mandy does find out in so many months to come, oh God help him.
'I mean, her brick would come out - she has a brick in her bag, and you'd see the crazy side of Mandy if she had any inkling that John had something to do with Nate's death.'
Lisa added: 'She's the Queen of the family, and you don't cross the Queen.'
Away from her life portraying Mandy Dingle on hit soap Emmerdale, Lisa has been supporting Sue Ryder with their latest campaign.
Lisa was incredibly close to her mum Cath, but sadly lost her to cancer in 2012.
Now, Lisa has joined forces with their Back for a Moment campaign, to help bereaved people get the support they need.
And in doing so, the star chatted to The Sun about her mum, and how she sometimes finds herself hiding behind her character Mandy, to disguise the pain of losing her.
But Lisa says it's her Emmerdale cast mates who get her through those tougher times.
She said: 'On the tough days, I do think Mandy Dingle has been a great person to hide behind. I do hide behind the bravado.
'Because there are some days where you want to sort of roll over on your pillow and cry. But I am so grateful to do what I love, and I am very lucky.
'I am guilty of pressing the bravado button, but I have my wonderful co-stars around me, including Dom - who plays Paddy - and the incredible Bradley Johnson, who plays my son.
'We're all so in tune with each other, they've got my back and I've got theirs, and honestly we're so lucky we do, because sometimes I watch my scenes back and think 'if only people knew what was really going on in my head.''
But the star said she recognises that, for some people, it's hard to find others to turn to when losing someone, especially as 88% of bereaved people feel alone in their grief.
Lisa continued: 'There are thousands of people who need to know that Sue Ryder is there, and that they don't have to be by themselves.
'My dad was a bit in denial when my mum died, and that is what the campaign is there for.'
Sue Ryder offers a range of free grief support, including an online bereavement community and in-person Grief Kind Spaces. Search 'Grief Deserves Better' or visit this website

Emmerdale John Sugden clues tease villain will finally be exposed very soon

Emmerdale's latest episodes appear to be gearing towards the end of killer John Sugden, almost a year on from his debut on the ITV soap with some hints to his downfall It can only be a matter of time before Emmerdale villain John Sugden is finally exposed to the village. ‌ Nate Robinson's murderer has managed to remain undetected despite a number of mistakes and some shifty behaviour. John killed Nate by accident before dumping his body in the lake and then using Nate's phone to pretend he'd simply moved on, cutting his family out of his life. ‌ As well as almost framing Nate's wife Tracy for the death when his body was found, John said nothing and acted like he hadn't just murdered someone for months. While the guilt is slowly eating away at him now, he's allowed another person, Owen, to die instead of saving him. ‌ This week he framed patient Owen with a faked confession regarding Nate's demise. He filled the confession and suicide note with so much detail only the killer would know, while spoilers have teased an alibi could jeopardise John's dark plan. Amid this he's struggling to cope with his actions, confiding in a volunteer at an online helpline about his guilt. He has no idea though that it's Paddy Kirk, father figure of John's husband Aaron Dingle, that he is speaking with. ‌ John's also sparked suspicion with his brother Robert Sugden, who is onto him as it is. But new information about John being at Owen's house before he died has sent Robert's mind whirling. Robert has no idea just how far John's crimes go though, with him orchestrating a harassment campaign against Chas Dingle and Liam Cavanagh all to get closer to them and be the hero, framing Ella Forster in the process. John also triggered a number of events, while also being in the right place at the right time too. He left Cain Dingle in serious danger recently with everyone thinking he'd simply drunk too much alcohol and collapsed, with John actually to blame. He deliberately caused Jacob Gallagher to have an allergic reaction by switching their coffees, all so he could save Jacob and again be the hero. ‌ He attacked Liam believing it was Mack Boyd before then saving him, while his feud with Mack also led to him deliberately causing the slurry leak at the farm to frame his enemy. This worked, and Mack's sister Moira is still at risk of losing her home and the farm, due to fines and losses in finances. John spiked Chas at one point before saving her, also rescuing Ruby Miligan from the barn fire and saving Moira then too just moments after killing Nate. Each time he has done something, his actions have alarmed fans given how careless he can be with the "clean-up" whether that be covering his tracks, disposing of evidence or framing someone. ‌ Robert learns about the Jacob incident next week, already onto John about Nate and Owen's apparent crime. Whether anyone listens to Robert remains to be seen though, but fans believe John's husband Aaron is now onto him after catching him burning his medical supplies. Mack was also onto John at one point and has refused to get involved since. But this hasn't stopped fans thinking Mack and Robert will soon join forces to expose John, with Mack's mystery flashforward still not aired. Claudette Anderson also knows about John visiting Owen, so perhaps she may look into matters, and then there's Liam who wasn't John's biggest fan previously. All it's going to take is a current ally to turn on John, whether they work with Robert or not. ‌ Get the latest drama from the Dales by joining our Emmerdale WhatsApp group As drama continues to unfold in the Yorkshire Dales, the Mirror has launched its very own Emmerdale WhatsApp community where you'll get all the latest breaking news, secrets, and spoilers delivered straight to your phone. Then there's Paddy who we now know is John's mystery confidant - so will John get a little too vocal and end up giving away what he's done to Paddy? What if Ella was to return and find a way to prove her innocence? Will they ever question who really attacked Liam all those weeks ago, and will Aidan awake from his coma again and finally expose what John did to him? With there being such a focus on a huge September plot and new characters Kev, Celia and Ray, all tipped to be baddies, surely the currently village baddie John is on his way out. With so many people now questioning him and Robert keen to expose him for once and for all, not to mention John's lies so close to unraveling in more ways than one, it's certainly paving the way for him to be rumbled and a comeuppance could be imminent.

EXCLUSIVE: Emmerdale star reveals scenes were 'cut' at last minute before being brutally killed off

Emmerdale star Simon Haines says some of his scenes were 'cut' before he had even started filming. The actor made three appearances on the ITV soap in July as the character of Owen Michaels and was seen on a date with Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley), but things took a sour turn when he spiked Robert's drink and John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) intervened. Just days later, paramedic John found Owen unresponsive at his home and instead of choosing to save him, left him to die so he could write up a note on his laptop framing him for the murder of Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter). Simon always knew his stay in the Dales was going to be short, but has now revealed that there were actually more scenes planned, explaining exclusively to the Mirror: "Yeah, we talked about it in advance with casting. Of course, the scripts always change. I think there was more Owen stuff in there, but by the time we came to do the first day shooting, it had been taken out. "I'm not sure, who knows? Probably not a second date with Robert but yeah we always knew it was going to be a sort of quick, impactful mini villain storyline." However, Simon was ultimately happy with his short run on the show, and explained: "It felt really good because I knew that I had other projects that were coming up and was sort of limited with availability and it was just a great chance to be a part of something so iconic, have a big impact and then get out." Fans are now convinced that they know how killer John will get his comeuppance, and even Simon thinks John 'tying himself in knots' now that things are starting to come to a head, but is not convinced that a return for himself is outside of the realms of possibility in soapland, as he teased: "I think so. I think John is tying himself in knots now. Ollie, on my last day, was like 'You never know, there could be a twin brother or something...' So, you never know, that might not be the last you see of me." Fans know that John has been messaging someone at a helpline to offload about his guilt, with him struggling over his actions. What we found out on Wednesday was that the person he's been messaging is none other than village vet Paddy Kirk.

Emmerdale Owen blunder slammed by fans - but missed clue could expose John

Emmerdale viewers were left calling out the show's police force over some obvious signs of a cover-up on the ITV soap, amid John Sugden framing Owen for Nate's murder Viewers of Emmerdale have slammed a new twist that saw newcomer Owen framed for the murder of Nate Robinson this week. ‌ Owen was found dead by the police, and they spotted a suicide note and a murder confession on his laptop. It detailed how he'd murdered Nate, including information on what happened and how he disposed of the body. ‌ Of course viewers know that it was John Sugden who killed Nate and then covered up the crime until Nate's body was found. After various ways of trying to hide his guilt he settled for letting patient Owen die after a suspected overdose, before typing out the confession on his laptop. ‌ He took steps to hide the fact he'd been there, removing fingerprints from Owen's body as well as the laptop and other place. But it was this "error" fans believe could expose Owen was framed, and it left many fans slamming the police force for their quick decision to accept Owen's confession. The missed clue of the suspicious removal of fingerprints surely would have sparked alarm bells if they'd paid attention. Why would there be no fingerprints and a clean keyboard if Owen had just typed out a note before possibly taking his own life? ‌ There's also the fact that his laptop somehow remained opened and accessible, seemingly. Surely during a post-mortem it might be flagged that Owen's death was accidental, plus the fact his arm had been wiped? Maybe not, but some fans were sure John's clean-up would end up giving away he was there. John had claimed he couldn't get into the house, but what if he left some sort of evidence behind that proves he was there? Fans also noted that Owen's decision to type out a murder confession and not write it or text it would also spark concern that this was not his doing. Other viewers claimed points about the confession also did not add up, with Owen being a complete stranger and it apparently being a chance encounter. So how did he just happen to have access to the tools used to cover up the body, and what about a weapon or cause of death? ‌ Taking to social media, one fan said: "So Owen types out a long suicide note, then wipes his laptop clean of prints, front and back. Then kills himself. Makes absolutely zero sense, obviously." A fan replied: "Exactly! John probably thought he was so clever lol." Another viewer commented: "I would have thought that the police would dust it for prints and ask Liam if he touched it rather than showing him the suicide note even before the autopsy." A fourth fan said: "I'm hoping this is what catches John out tbh." ‌ A fifth viewer posted: "That it was typed and not written is a red flag for a cover up and computer screens shut down and locked up after a few minutes." Another fan said: "A roadside killing by some random should be messy with the body just dumped in a ditch somewhere." A final fan questioned: "Supposedly, Owen 'killed' Nate in a road rage incident, if I heard that correctly... but how exactly? Did he hit him with his car? Was there a weapon(s) involved? Owen, while tall, did he look like he could take Nate in a fight??"
