***Warning – this article contains spoilers for this week's episode of WWE SmackDown***
WWE fans are in for a treat on Friday as a Hall of Famer makes their return on SmackDown.
In a rare move, the sports entertainment giant pre-taped this week's episode of SmackDown immediately after last night's edition of Monday Night Raw.
During the show, WWE Women's Champion Tiffany Stratton was in the ring with Queen of the Ring winner Jade Cargill as they hyped their upcoming match at SummerSlam next month.
However, the champ insisted she also wanted to defend her title at Evolution, WWE's all-women's premium live event, on July 13.

According to fans on social media, she was soon interrupted by legendary wrestler Trish Stratus, who accepted the challenge to set the stage for a dream match in a couple of weeks.
The Evolution bout will mark the Hall of Famer's first singles championship opportunity since she beat Lita in her original retirement match on Raw in 2006.
Elsewhere on the show, Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss team up to take on The Secret Hervice and the duo of B-Fab and Michin.
The winner will get a shot at the Women's Tag Team Championships at Evolution – but Metro has decided not to spoil the results of any of Friday's matches.
Fraxiom (Nathan Fraser and Axiom) are set to face new team Andrade and Rey Fenix in what should be a barnstormer of a match, while Jacob Fatu and Jimmy Uso come together against JC Mateo and new United States Champion Solo Sikoa.
NXT Great American Bash – July 12
WWE Saturday Night's Main Event – July 12
WWE Evolution – July 13
WWE SummerSlam – August 2 & 3
WWE Clash In Paris – August 31
WWE Crown Jewel: Perth – October 11
WWE Survivor Series: WarGames – November 29
It's all about the tag team division this week, as the other match taped for SmackDown pits members of Motor City Machine Guns, Los Garzas, #DIY and Street Profits against The Wyatt Sicks.
Chris Sabin, Berto, Johnny Gargano and Montez Ford will all be representing their respective teams in the 8-man tag team match.
Meanwhile, Trish's return means the card for Evolution is taking shape, after Iyo Sky picked Rhea Ripley as her challenger for the Women's World Championship.
Roxanne Perez will replace the injured Liv Morgan as she and Raquel Rodriguez defend the Women's Tag Team Titles, and NXT Women's Champion Jacy Jayne will face Jordynne Grace. More Trending
There will also be a Battle Royal, with the winner getting a world championship match at Clash In Paris on August 31.
This Friday is the 4th of July, so WWE has taken the decision to give its talent and crew a few days off.
According to WWE's website, the next live show is Monday Night Raw on July 7, meaning the superstars will get a good break over the holidays.

Things will be back to normal after that, with episodes aired live over the summer.

Revealed: Why England cricket legend Andrew Flintoff rejected 'obscene' three-year WWE contract and turned to boxing instead

Andrew Flintoff has revealed he turned down a lucrative offer to join the WWE as he contemplated his career moves post his cricket retirement. The England legend initially was forced to retire at the age of 31 before making a short-lived return a few years later. And it has emerged that in the period of the first hiatus, the iconic all-rounder was close to swapping the rope of the boundary for the ropes of the wrestling ring. Flintoff, who was living in the Middle East at the time, had ambitions to face The Undertaker in Manchester - with his pitch to Sky soon gaining momentum and reaching the offices of the then-WWE boss Vince McMahon. However, despite the wealthy overtures, Flintoff declined the opportunity due to family reasons. Reflecting on how it all came about, he told The Overlap and Betfair's Stick to Cricket show: 'I got an email from WWE, saying "you can't do your documentary because you'll give the secrets away, we want to put you on a three-year contract". 'They said "we'll fast-track you and in 18 months you'll be at WrestleMania and Royal Rumble". 'The money was obscene, but we wanted to move back from Dubai. The kids wanted to play cricket and didn't want to go to America, so I just changed it to boxing and had a fight instead.' The bout in question saw Flintoff climb off the canvas in the second round to win a points decision over American Richard Dawson on his heavyweight boxing debut in December 2012. Speaking about the how WWE opportunity even began though, Flintoff expanded: 'What happened was, it got to a point in Dubai where I was unfit, I'd put weight on and I was just not in a good place. I wanted to get fit again, but I needed motivation. 'As a kid, I loved WWE, so I came up with this idea, because I was doing League of Their Own with Sky, to fight the Undertaker in Manchester! 'I wrote this treatment up and presented the idea to Sky, it started gathering momentum and next minute it's being passed onto WWE. I was in contact with the WWE, Vince McMahon! 'Dave Roberts 'Rooster' who was a physiotherapist who lived with us throughout my career, lived with us and looked after us. I asked him to send a trainer over to Dubai for six weeks because I needed to bulk up. 'He sent this fella over, I trained my nuts off, got fit and then the WWE flew me to Tampa. Me and the missus have gone over to Tampa, I've got two weeks at wrestling academy. 'They fly us over business class, next morning we get in the car and go to WWE's academy, two massive units all branded. We're sitting in the car and these things are walking past me, like 6ft 8in monsters.' However, Flintoff soon realised how cut-throat the industry could get as he quickly sustained a severe injury. 'My missus asked, are you going to be okay? I said, "yeah, I'll be fine". I walked in - on the first day, nobody liked me because it's really competitive with 60 of us all wanting a contract with the WWE - then this English lad walked in. 'So I go in and we do the warm-ups, then they put me in the ring for three hours and I just ran the ropes; I'd run into someone and they'd throw me. 'The second day I went in there, I had lashes all down my back and my missus said "are you alright with this?". I was sore and thought something's not right here. 'I said to this physio, "I think I'm having a back spasm"; so they're all like "oh the English lad's got a back spasm". So they put me on the couch, he's pushing me and I can feel my ribs separating. 'I said "mate, I think I've broken my ribs". He said I'd be in so much pain and I was like "mate, I want to cry but I can't in there". I went for an X-ray and this fella who puts it up asked 'what do you do' I said "I'm a wrestler". He asked, "how long have you been doing this" and I said "two days". 'We did all of that - on the third day you do acting lessons, but I didn't think I was in on it. I was just sitting minding my own business and they said 'Fred, you're up'. I got up, and I had the microphone in my hand saying how hard I am; but I didn't like that so said 'can I do another'. 'I looked out and there were all of these weird and wonderful looking people, so I just tore them all a new one. They were trying to get me to wind up after two minutes but I was not finished.'

WWE legend Ric Flair, 76, asks for 'prayers' as he shares troubling health update

WWE legend Ric Flair has asked for 'prayers' after sharing a concerning health update with his fans. The wrestling icon has been worse for wear in recent times and, last month, revealed that he had been diagnosed with skin cancer for the 'second time in three years'. He later shared a post with fans ensuring that he was 'on the mend' however it now appears that his health has taken another turn. On Monday, Flair shared a brief message to his fans along with a picture that left some fans concerned. Taking to X, he wrote: 'Surgery Coming Up. Keep Me In Your Prayers. It's All Fragile' along with a selfie and a photo of his stomach - which appeared to have a number of sutures in from a previous surgery. It's unclear whether the latest health update is related to his ongoing battle with skin cancer. Flair, 76, shared a picture with fans and asked them to 'keep me in your prayers' Earlier in the month, Flair had shared another selfie with his fans along with the caption: 'On The Mend!' In a recent post, he revealed that he would have to miss a scheduled meet-and-greet event at a Mississippi wellness clinic due to his health. The 'Nature Boy' is widely considered one of the greatest professional wrestlers with his daughter, Charlotte, following in his footsteps. He first declared that he would be retiring in 2008 after losing to Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 24 but has continuously returned to WWE in rare appearances. In the years since, Flair has tragically suffered with a number of significant health issues. In 2017, he was in a coma for 11 days and reportedly near death after his intestine ruptured. Flair had been hospitalized with stomach pains and just a few hours later suffered early stages of kidney failure. He also came close to congestive heart failure as a result of alcohol abuse. Despite his family being told he only had a 20 percent chance of surviving, Flair eventually recovered after being placed into a medically induced coma and having an obstructed piece of bowel surgically removed. In 2019, he was rushed to the emergency room after reportedly suffering a 'very serious' medical emergency. He later underwent successful heart surgery at the Atlanta hospital. The 'Nature Boy' is widely considered one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time Boasting 16 WWE world championship titles, Flair cemented himself as one of the greatest icons of the ring. He is also the only WWE Superstar to have been inducted into the Hall of Fame twice. As a high schooler in Wisconsin in the late 1960s Flair participated in interscholastic wrestling, football, and track, but by 1972 he was trying to make a name for himself in theatrical wrestling. Known as 'Nature Boy,' Flair rose to prominence in the 1980s and 1990s with the WCW and the WWF (now the WWE), and he ultimately headlined Wrestlemania VIII in 1992. Flair continued to wrestle well into his 60s and recently made an appearance at 2019's Wrestlemania 35.

Andrew Flintoff: I rejected obscene money to be a wrestler in WWE

Andrew 'Freddie' Flintoff has revealed he received an 'obscene' offer to become a WWE wrestler in the US shortly after the abrupt end of his cricket career. The legendary England all-rounder retired from the international game at the end of the 2009 Ashes because of injury and, in his words, 'stumbled' into a career in TV. 'I fell out with it [cricket],' Flintoff told the Stick To Cricket podcast. 'I thought my best years were in front of me at 31, especially as a bowler. I was bowling the quickest I'd ever bowled and my batting was coming back. 'I thought the next three years were my years, but I never got that. I couldn't be around it. You know what it's like. You retire, and everything moves on, but you are left behind. That's not a criticism, it's just how it is. I couldn't watch cricket, I didn't want to be around it.' Flintoff and his family moved to Dubai as he 'avoided' cricket and explored a career in TV, which included coming very close to joining the US wrestling circus. 'I nearly joined the WWE,' he said, adding that his name in the ring was due to be 'Big Fred'. He added: 'I was unfit, had put weight on, and wanted to get fit again. I needed a motivation. I loved WWE as a kid, so I came up with this idea because I was doing [panel show] A League Of Their Own with Sky, to fight the Undertaker in Manchester. 'I wrote this treatment up, as you do in TV. You write an idea up and you present it. I presented it to Sky, and they loved it, so it started gathering momentum. Next thing it's passed to WWE and I'm in contact with them, with Vince McMahon. 'I trained my nuts off, got fit. The WWE flew me to Tampa. Me and the missus have gone over to Tampa, and I've got two weeks at wrestling academy. They fly us over from Dubai on business class, the limo picks us up, takes us to the hotel. 'Next morning, we go to the WWE Academy, it's two massive units, all branded. I'm sat in the car and these things are walking past me. They are like six foot eight, seven-foot monsters. My missus says 'are you all right with this?'. I said I'd be fine. 'I walked in, and nobody liked me because it's really competitive. Sixty-odd people all wanting a contract with the WWE, and this English lad has walked in. 'I do the warm-ups, and then they put me in the ring for three hours. I'd just run into someone and they'd throw me! After lunch I was in the middle and they were running at me. Then I started running the rings again. I got so tired that I jumped on this lad's legs and couldn't lift my head. I went straight through the apron and smacked my face, nose went, legs akimbo.' Flintoff said he feared he had broken a rib and was left with 'lashes all down my back, and was getting beaten up left, right and centre'. The 47-year-old continued: 'Two weeks later, I got an email from WWE, saying 'you can't do your documentary because you'll give the secrets away, but we want to put you on a three-year contract'. They said 'we'll fast-track you and in 18 months you'll be at WrestleMania and Royal Rumble'. 'The money was obscene, but we wanted to move back from Dubai. The kids wanted to play cricket and didn't want to move to America, so I just changed it to boxing and had a fight instead.' Flintoff went on to have an eclectic TV career, including documentaries about subjects as varied as fish and chips, boxing and his battle with bulimia, as well as presenting Top Gear. It was while filming the BBC motor show in December 2022 that Flintoff suffered a life-threatening car accident. During his recovery, he has reconnected with cricket, and is now head coach of England Lions, the national team's second string. On Tuesday, he joined the Test team for training at Edgbaston ahead of the second Test against India that starts on Wednesday. 'Taking a step back from cricket has helped,' Flintoff said. 'You go out into the world and it's a very different place. You come back into it, and you are so grateful for the game. You think 'why have I not been here for so long?'' Flintoff also confirmed that he recently completed recording a third series of his hit BBC show Field of Dreams, featuring three new teams: two boys' sides, from Bootle in Liverpool and Newton Heath in Manchester, and a girls' team in Blackpool. 'All the boys are doing well,' said Flintoff. 'But what I didn't envisage is what I got from it. What happened with the accident, then going to India with these boys. That helped me so much. Even doing what I am now in coaching. 'We've just finished another one. I don't know what's going to happen after that. It's getting bigger and bigger, I don't know where it's going. But what it's highlighted is that if you give kids a chance, they are all right aren't they? Kids are good!'
