Every year, the Fourth of July brings about a feast of cheeseburgers, hot dogs and potato salad at many family cookouts.
However, there's a chance you might be craving some fast food on Friday, and you'll want to know which restaurants open their doors.
Why It Matters
Many businesses close on July Fourth to give employees the day off with their friends and family—but some restaurants remain open to meet the higher demand for food.
Here's a list, including hours of operation, if a craving strikes for your favorite fast-food chain.

Fourth of July Hours:
Starbucks
Coffee lovers will likely be happy to know that Starbucks operates on its regular schedule at most locations.
Some select stores may have modified hours though, so it may be best to call ahead.
Chick-fil-A
While Chick-fil-A closes every Sunday, the fried chicken chain will be open for business on the Fourth of July.
Dunkin'
Dunkin' will also be around to serve customers' caffeine and doughnut needs, as the chain remains open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Chipotle
Chipotle remains one of America's favorite fast casual restaurants for burritos and burrito bowls alike.
You will still be able to get Chipotle for lunch. However, the chain closes early, at 3 p.m., on the Fourth of July.
McDonald's
Sometimes, nothing feels more American than a McDonald's cheeseburger. For those feeling hungry for a Quarter Pounder or Big Mac, the fast-food giant remains open on the holiday.
However, keep in mind, hours could be modified.
Wendy's
Similar to competitor McDonald's, Wendy's will be open on the Fourth of July. Hours may vary by location, so it pays to call ahead.
Burger King
Burger King will operate store hours differently based on individual sites, so you should look at your local store's information online or call ahead.
Subway
If you want a Subway sandwich at any point on the Fourth of July, you should call your individual store.
Subway restaurants are individually owned and operated and may make different decisions on operating hours for the holiday.
What People Are Saying
The Library of Congress: "Philadelphians marked the first anniversary of American independence with a spontaneous celebration, which is described in a letter by John Adams to his daughter, Abigail. However, observing Independence Day only became commonplace after the War of 1812."
What Happens Next
Restaurants will reopen at normal hours on Saturday. The next federal holiday is Labor Day, which falls on September 1.

Trump says he will start talks with China on TikTok deal
President Donald Trump late Friday said that the United States 'pretty much has a deal' for an American company to acquire the U.S. branch of TikTok, adding that he intended to restart talks next week with China to approve the deal. 'We're going to start Monday or Tuesday talking to China,' Trump told reporters traveling on Air Force One on Friday night as it headed to Bedminster, New Jersey. 'We think we probably have to get it approved by China. Not definitely, but probably.' He added, 'I think the deal is good for China, and it's good for us. It's money, it's a lot of money.' Trump did not say who the potential buyer was. The president said earlier in the week that he had found a buyer for the U.S. branch of TikTok, the popular Chinese-owned video app that faces a ban adopted by Congress over national security concerns. A 2024 law required that the app effectively be banned in the United States unless its parent company, ByteDance, sold it to a non-Chinese company. Congress was concerned that sensitive user data could end up in the hands of the Chinese government. It was not clear if the deal would comply with some of the requirements Congress adopted for a sale of TikTok, particularly if ByteDance chose not to share the app's algorithm with the U.S. buyers. Private equity firms have been hesitant to invest in a deal without some form of indemnification. Trump has declined to enforce the law banning the app, which was passed by large bipartisan majorities and unanimously upheld by the Supreme Court. Shortly after being sworn in, Trump issued an executive order directing the Justice Department to suspend enforcement of the TikTok ban and has since repeatedly extended it. Attorney General Pam Bondi has told tech companies that Trump has the constitutional power to effectively set aside laws. This article originally appeared in The New York Times. Copyright 2025

va-Q-tec (HMSE:VQT) Is Investing Its Capital With Increasing Efficiency
If we want to find a stock that could multiply over the long term, what are the underlying trends we should look for? Amongst other things, we'll want to see two things; firstly, a growing return on capital employed (ROCE) and secondly, an expansion in the company's amount of capital employed. This shows us that it's a compounding machine, able to continually reinvest its earnings back into the business and generate higher returns. So when we looked at the ROCE trend of va-Q-tec (HMSE:VQT) we really liked what we saw. Trump has pledged to "unleash" American oil and gas and these 15 US stocks have developments that are poised to benefit. Just to clarify if you're unsure, ROCE is a metric for evaluating how much pre-tax income (in percentage terms) a company earns on the capital invested in its business. To calculate this metric for va-Q-tec, this is the formula: Return on Capital Employed = Earnings Before Interest and Tax (EBIT) ÷ (Total Assets - Current Liabilities) 0.22 = €23m ÷ (€140m - €37m) (Based on the trailing twelve months to December 2024). Therefore, va-Q-tec has an ROCE of 22%. In absolute terms that's a great return and it's even better than the Machinery industry average of 8.7%.
