Ian McKellen stars in young director's film debut
Jacob, from Windsor, Berkshire, explores 1,000 years of gay history in his film, as well as what it is like to be part of the LGBTQ+ community today.
Dragged Through Time, which draws on his experiences as an openly gay young person, will be screened for the first time at Windsor and Eton Pride on 26 July.
Speaking to BBC Radio Berkshire, Jacob said Sir Ian was "very easy to work with".
Jacob said he had been working with Windsor-based youth-led film project Notice Productions for about a year when he suggested to one of the coordinators, Brad Day, that they should make a film about gay issues.
"He [Mr Day], as a joke, tells me that I have to have a synopsis ready by the next day - and I take him seriously," said the young director.
"So I write this whole two-page thing, hand it in, it gets approved and I'm in utter shock."
Exploring LGBTG+ history was "really important" to him, said Jacob, adding: "While we have great films and TV shows now that focus on the present, I really think it's an important thing to focus on the past."
Dragged Through Time goes as far back as ancient Greece, he said. "It was quite an accepting place back then.
"Most of the Greek gods, while they may be fictional, had male lovers."
He described the genre of the film as "drama, in a way", explaining: "We have these dream sequences... that are different forms of theatre with drag queens played by me, which we had to make costumes for."
Sir Ian plays the role of Great Uncle Peter, a semi-closeted older relative of the film's main protagonist.
Jacob said they managed to secure the Hollywood star's involvement via Eton College's main film director Scott Handy.
The actor described the project as "a really inspiring thing to look at", said Jacob, adding that Sir Ian was very easy to work with".
Looking ahead to Windsor and Eton Pride, he said it would feel like "my community is moving closer to home".

He said he watched Cunningham and the Fever compete against the Las Vegas Aces and loved what he saw from her. 'I'm from Indiana. I'm from Indianapolis, and that's the home of not only the second-best basketball team in the country this last year, but the biggest name in professional basketball today, Caitlin Clark. And Caitlin Clark has an enforcer. She's the Marty McSorley to Wayne Gretzky, and she is a stunning athlete,' McLane said, via The Daily Mirror. 'I flew to Las Vegas and watched them in action against the Aces, and I would love to have Sophia Cunningham in WOW, because she takes down the competition, and she makes sure that Caitlin Clark is safe on the basketball floor. We'd love to have Sophie in WOW.' McLane isn't the only one who would like to bring Cunningham into the fold though. He isn't the most prominent either. Longtime Los Angeles Lakers owner Jeanie Buss recently took to X and echoed McLane's sentiment, declaring that she would "love" to have Cunningham join WOW. Buss has been a developer of the California-based wrestling promotion for many years. 'We would love to have @SophieCunning5 join us at @wowsuperheroes she is talented, dedicated and a fierce competitor!!' There are plenty of pro athletes who have made a successful transition into professional wrestling, though there are far fewer who went in from pro basketball. The number is smaller still for WNBA players or women's basketball players in general. If there's anyone who could break the mold though, it's Sophie Cunningham. Eagle-eyed buyer snaps up £30k Dalí painting for £150 at house clearance sale
A Salvador Dalí painting, initially acquired for a mere £150 at a house clearance sale, has been authenticated as an original and is now valued at up to £30,000. The mixed media piece was purchased by an anonymous art dealer. They later discovered it had been previously offered for sale at Sotheby's in the 1990s, fully attributed to Dalí. The artwork is set to be auctioned by Cambridgeshire auctioneers Cheffins on 23 October. Gabrielle Downie, an associate at Cheffins, said the loss of an attribution is 'quite rare in the modern art world', making it a 'significant' rediscovery. 'To handle a genuine rediscovery of a work by who is easily one of the most famous artists in the world, and the godfather of Surrealism, is a real honour.' Having the painting authenticated again was an 'exciting process', she said. 'It is a testament to the sellers' significant art knowledge that he was able to spot this picture at a house clearance sale. 'While Dalí's work is often some of the most recognisable, this is an unusual piece which shows a different side to his practice when working in watercolour.' The artwork, titled Vecchio Sultano, was discovered in a Cambridge-based house clearance sale in 2023. It has been certified as authentic by Dalí expert Nicolas Descharnes and has a pre-sale estimate of £20,000 to £30,000. The image, made with watercolour paint and felt tip, measures 38cm by 29cm. It is an illustration of a scene from The Arabian Nights, a series of 500 pieces which Dali intended to create of Middle Eastern folktales, which was commissioned by wealthy Italian couple Giuseppe and Mara Albaretto. Ms Downie said: 'The Albarettos who commissioned this work had initially asked Dalí to illustrate a bible in 1963, but upon Dalí's insistence, he instead ended up illustrating scenes from 1,001 Nights – a collection of Middle Eastern folktales. 'It seems Dalí was fascinated with Moorish culture and believed himself to be from a Moorish line. 'It seems that this project was abandoned, with Dalí only having completed 100 of the intended 500 works. 'Of these 100, half remained with the publishing house Rizzoli and were either damaged or lost; the other 50 stayed with the Albarettos and were later inherited by their daughter, Christina, who was also Dalí's goddaughter. 'It is the 50 that were retained by the family that were published in 2016 by the Folio Society. 'I think, given that Dalí engineered the commission to suit his whims, that he very much enjoyed this project and the subject matter. 'It is most likely that the work in question came from the batch of 50 which were retained and later lost by the publishers.'

Minnesotans remember late actor Malcom-Jamal Warner for activism as well as talent
As the mourning continues for Malcolm-Jamal Warner, a Minnesotan who knew him says the teen star was much more than just an actor. Comedic scenes, and serious ones too, Warner captured attention and seized respect. WCCO anchor A.J. Hilton was a fan of Warner's work on the Cosby Show. "The Cosby Show was the first show that had a Black family, an affluent Black family, that was living everyday life," Hilton said. "I know those moments because it reminds me of home, reminds me of me and my family." It's a sentiment echoed by many, including Gary Hines of Minneapolis-based Sounds of Blackness. "He played that role to the nines, as we say in the business, and was so impactful with it," said Hines. He soon realized the admiration was mutual when Warner approached him in Los Angeles at the NAACP Image Awards. "He said, Gary, I love Sounds of Blackness. Me and my family, everything you mean, especially to our people and to all people, really. Because he was very, very socially conscious and aware. A really, a happy warrior," Hines said. He was a warrior on a mission for awareness, as he showed in 2023 when he performed his poetry for the Minnesota Orchestra — and he did that with Minnesota stars by his side, posing with Justice Alan Page and Jevetta Steele. Hines says he believes Warner would want to be remembered as "an activist and someone who spoke up for justice and equality." "In the spirit of Harry Belafonte, activist before actor. I'm sure he would insist upon that," Hines said. Not only was Warner a poet, he was also a musician, winning a Grammy for best traditional R&B performance in 2015 for the song "Jesus Children."
