Derek Carr's departure from the NFL left the New Orleans Saints down a veteran quarterback. The Saints lack experience at the position and could eventually be in the market for somebody to add some help.
This week, the eight-time Pro Bowler Cam Jordan made it clear that he would eventually work on luring in a veteran quarterback to join the team. He didn't have an immediate name to reveal on FanDuel TV's 'Up and Adams'.
"I'm going to recruit a veteran quarterback properly when the time is right, and that's going to probably take all of the cap space we have," Jordan said.
Could that quarterback be Kirk Cousins? Nope. Adams tossed out a potential return to the game for Matt Ryan for Jordan to think about, but the rival connection doesn't sit right for the homegrown Saints player.
It didn't take long before Jordan tossed out New York Giants quarterback Jameis Winston.
"Jameis? If I'm being non-biased... Jameis? There's Russell over there. They got Jaxson Dart. My guy, Jameis, yeah. Come on down! It makes a lot of sense. .... I'm going all in. Jameis as a veteran quarterback, come on over," Jordan said.

The former No. 1 overall pick out of Florida State has plenty of experience under his belt. Since landing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2015, Winston has played in 105 games, picking up 87 starts.
After five seasons with the Bucs, Winston joined the Saints in 2020 to serve as a backup to Drew Brees. Although he initially signed a one-year deal with New Orleans, Winston returned on another short-term contract for the following season. He ended up starting in seven games.

Last year, he signed a one-year deal to play backup for the Cleveland Browns. He played in 12 games, completing 181 passes for 2,121 yards and 13 touchdowns. Winston finished with a completion percentage of 61 percent. He threw 12 interceptions.
With the Giants, Winston is expected to play second-string to Russell Wilson. The rookie first-rounder Jaxson Dart is right behind him. Since the Giants are operating as if they are contending in 2025, Winston remains an important piece as insurance to Wilson.
However, if Dart shows major strides in training camp, there is a chance he could jump his way into the backup quarterback spot. If the Giants trend in the wrong direction, it could lead them to cut the Wilson experiment early and take a chance on Winston.
While Jordan's desire to bring Winston back to New Orleans is far-fetched at the moment, the idea that the Saints could use some help at the position is legitimate. New Orleans currently employs the 2023 fourth-rounder Jake Haener, the 2024 fifth-rounder Spencer Rattler, and the second-round rookie, Tyler Shough.

Sean McVay noticing a change in Stetson Bennett's confidence this season

Quarterback Stetson Bennett never appeared to lack confidence when he was leading Georgia to back-to-back national titles. And for the first time since the Rams drafted him in 2023, Bennett is practicing with an obvious spring in his step. With starter Matthew Stafford sidelined because of a back issue, and Jimmy Garoppolo running the first-team offense, Bennett has impressed while working with the second unit. 'Everything is just more comfortable,' Bennett said Thursday after a full pads practice at Loyola Marymount. He returned last season, played in the preseason, and was the No. 3 quarterback behind Stafford and Garoppolo. But the tentativeness of the last season appears to be gone. He has connected for touchdowns and big gains with several receivers while avoiding poor decisions and turnovers. 'Confidence, and he's enjoying it,' coach Sean McVay said when asked what he noticed as the biggest difference in Bennett. 'When you watched him play at Georgia, and even some of the preseason games, when he gets into a rhythm and he's smiling, all these great competitors, there's an enjoyment for mastering their craft and enjoyment of just being totally immersed in the moment, and then enjoyment of your teammates' success.' Puka Nacua tipped a ball to himself in the end zone for a touchdown pass from Garoppolo. ... Safety Kam Kinchens and cornerback Derion Kendrick intercepted passes by Garoppolo. ... Commanders star WR Terry McLaurin officially requests trade, will Steelers make a move?

Commanders star WR Terry McLaurin just turned the NFL world upside down hours before the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game, officially requesting a trade out of Washington — and the Pittsburgh Steelers should take notice. After months of drama-filled contract negotiations, McLaurin appears ready to pull the plug on his time as a Commander, as reported by NFL insider Jordan Schultz. The Steelers are no strangers to big moves this offseason — having acquired Aaron Rodgers, DK Metcalf, Jalen Ramsey, Darius Slay, and Jonnu Smith all in the past four months. Despite Steelers GM Omar Khan making it clear that Pittsburgh is comfortable with the current roster, McLaurin's request could flip the entire narrative surrounding the Steel City wide receiver room. If Pittsburgh could pull off such a blockbuster acquisition, no one can deny that the incredibly stacked roster is Super Bowl-bound — as McLaurin and Metcalf would instantly become a top-three WR duo in the league.
