The measurement of land in 20 villages in Wardha district to be acquired for the Shaktipeeth Expressway connecting Goa has also been concluded, said sources.
For the Samruddhi Extension towards Gondia, measurement has been done in 104 villages out of 113 on the route. On the Bhandara line, 58 out of the 62 villages have been covered under joint measurement. However, a proposal for an alternative alignment for an extension towards Chandrapur has been put forward.
It was eventually found that there are coal blocks on the earlier route, and the area cannot be given up for the road.
A new route has been drawn, and approval is awaited, said a source. The extension will add another 400km of six-lane highway to the Samruddhi Mahamarg.
This will soon be followed by the issuance of notices under the Maharashtra Highways Act, which also incorporates elements of the Land Acquisition Act of 2013, said an official.
This includes provisions for compensation measured at five times the land value for those who agree and enter into a deal with MSRDC. Even those who oppose it get four-time value if their holdings are compulsorily taken over, explained a source.
The base value is derived on the basis of ready reckoner rates or the average of transactions in the last three years before the notification — whichever is higher. If two crops are taken on the land with irrigation, there is an add-on of 1.5 times on the base value, and then the five-time cost is calculated.

For fully irrigated land like orchards, the add-on to the base value goes up to 2 times, explained an official. The measurement concluded without any opposition from the locals, said officials.
The total cost estimated for the Samruddhi extension comes to more than Rs4,500 crore. Another close to Rs380 to 400 crore may be needed for the Shaktipeeth land acquisition in Wardha district, from where the expressway starts.
The leg towards Gondia will start from Gavasi near Nagpur and terminate at the Balaghat highway, passing through Tiroda. A road connecting Bhandara and Gadchiroli will diverge from this leg.
An existing road ahead will be widened by National Highway Authorities of India (NHAI), which will ultimately connect to Durg in Chhattisgarh, a source said.
The joint measurement for the extension towards Chandrapur, beginning from Seldoh in Wardha, will be done after the new alignment is approved.

With about 78,000 houses having been built in the rural areas of Tamil Nadu under the Kalaignar Kanavu Illam (KKI) scheme, authorities are taking steps to expedite the construction of nearly 1.2 lakh more houses. The plan is to ensure the completion of the remaining houses in a few months, said a senior official of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj department. Launched during 2024-25, the KKI envisages the construction of one lakh houses annually. Of the 1,00,000 houses approved last year, 76,468 houses have been completed. In the case of 23,255 houses, at least the roof has been laid. As for the remaining 277 houses, action has been initiated to bring the construction up to the stage of roofing in 10 days. As regards the houses sanctioned this year, 18 houses have been completed. For 82,765 houses, the completion of the basement stage has at least been accomplished. The progress in the construction of the houses includes the provision of lintel for 23,564 houses, the laying of roof for 4,047 houses, and plastering/whitewash and colour wash for 291 units. As of now, a sum of ₹581 crore has been incurred in the current year, which is billed as one of the expeditiously carried out works in housing projects of the RD&PR department, the official pointed out. Out of a total grant of ₹3,100 crore set aside last year under KKI, ₹2,930 crore has been spent. Further, steps are on to release ₹267.96 crore to beneficiaries in convergence with allocations made under other schemes. As part of the scheme, the minimum plinth area of every house is 360 sq. ft., including the kitchen. At least 300 sq. ft. will be covered with reinforced cement concrete. The unit cost of each house is ₹3.5 lakh, including the convergence with the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) to facilitate 90 person days for house construction. Ten person days will be accounted for individual household latrine (IHHL), which will come under the Swachh Bharat (Grameen) at the cost of ₹12,000. Every prospective beneficiary should hold a patta in his or her name. As for landless persons who are otherwise eligible, District Collectors have been issuing pattas so that such persons are included in the list of beneficiaries, the official clarified.

Mumbai: India Inc has shown remarkable financial strength over the last five years, with corporate profits growing nearly three times faster than the country's GDP between FY20 and FY25, a new report said on Thursday. The profit-to-GDP ratio has risen significantly to 6.9 per cent -- reflecting strong earnings performance despite economic challenges, according to the data compiled by Ionic Wealth (Angel One). The report, titled 'India Inc. FY25: Decoding Earnings Trends & Path Ahead', highlights that FY25 was a resilient year for Indian companies. Revenue of Nifty-500 firms grew by 6.8 per cent year-on-year (YoY), while EBITDA rose by 10.4 per cent and profit after tax (PAT) increased by 5.6 per cent. Notably, mid-cap and small-cap companies outshined large-cap firms in terms of profit growth, recording 22 per cent and 17 per cent PAT growth respectively, compared to just 3 per cent for large caps. Sector-wise, BFSI (banking, financial services and insurance) emerged as a major driver of profitability, with its share of total profits nearly doubling since the capital goods, and consumer durables also posted healthy earnings growth. Consumer durables led with a massive 57 per cent PAT growth in FY25, followed by healthcare at 36 per cent and capital goods at 26 per cent, as per the also benefited from margin improvements in sectors such as cement, chemicals, metals, and auto, helped by easing inflation and better input cost management. The report also points to a significant jump in capital expenditure plans. India Inc. aims to nearly double its capex to Rs72.25 lakh crore during FY26–30, with a majority of the investment expected to be self-funded. Around 80 per cent of this capex is focused on upgrading existing operations and generating new income, with sectors like power, green energy, telecom, auto, and cement leading the next wave of investments. Looking ahead to FY26, the outlook varies by sector. Banks and NBFCs may see loan growth stabilise as interest rates are expected to ease in the second half of the year. The IT sector is likely to witness a recovery, driven by cost-optimisation deals and demand from BFSI clients. Pharma growth will be supported by expansion in chronic therapies and hospital networks, while the FMCG sector is expected to benefit from improving rural demand and a good monsoon, the report said.
