Junior Tafa vs. Tuco Tokkos prediction, pick, start time for UFC on ESPN 70

Junior Tafa and Tuco Tokkos meet Saturday in the main card opener of UFC on ESPN 70 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn. Check out this quick breakdown of the matchup from MMA Junkie analyst Dan Tom. Last event: 2-3 UFC main cards, 2025: 64-48-1 Junior Tafa vs. Tuco Tokkos UFC on ESPN 70 preview Tafa (6-3 MMA, 2-3 UFC) moves down to light heavyweight as he looks to get back to .500 in the UFC. Despite winning his last fight by knockout against Sean Sharaf in October, Tafa makes the switch from heavyweight to 205 pounds. ... Tokkos (10-5 MMA, 0-2 UFC) is hunting for his first UFC win. His debut was last May against Oumar Sy, which was a quick one he lost by submission in the first round. His sophomore appearance was a decision loss against Navajo Stirling. Junior Tafa vs. Tuco Tokkos UFC on ESPN 70 expert pick, prediction Despite UFC 317 recently reminding us of the value of card formatting and building around the actually good weight classes like the lighter divisions, Mick Maynard and Sean Shelby continue to force-feed us low-level big men on Fight Night cards like it's some kind of fetish for them. I mean, I can't even say that this matchup between Junior Tafa and Tuco Tokkos will be fun for as long as it lasts, because it probably won't be fun at all and will likely go a lot longer than we want it to (which, I know, is starting sound like a personal problem at this point, but I digress). It should be noted that Tafa is dropping down from heavyweight for this fight, so it will at least be nice to see him finally competing in his more natural weight class. Although Tokkos potentially stymying Tafa via a grappling attack for three frames is a real possibility here (and almost a karmic one given the UFC matchmaker's propensity to tempt fate with their terrible card formatting), I'll reluctantly pick Tafa to survive the wrestling attempts en route to a knockout win in Round 2. Junior Tafa vs. Tuco Tokkos UFC on ESPN 70 odds The oddsmakers and the public are favoring the Australian fighter, listing Tafa -180 and Tokkos +140 via FanDuel. Junior Tafa vs. Tuco Tokkos UFC on ESPN 70 start time, how to watch As the main card opener, Tafa and Tokkos are expected to walk to the cage at approximately 9:10 p.m. ET. The fight broadcasts live on ESPN and ESPN+.

Austen Lane vs. Vitor Petrino prediction, pick, start time for UFC on ESPN 70

Austen Lane and Vitor Petrino meet Saturday on the main card of UFC on ESPN 70 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn. Check out this quick breakdown of the matchup from MMA Junkie analyst Dan Tom. Last event: 2-3 UFC main cards, 2025: 64-48-1 Austen Lane vs. Vitor Petrino UFC on ESPN 70 preview Lane (13-6 MMA, 1-3 UFC) earned his way into the UFC after a second appearance on Dana White's Contender Series, but has struggled to find success. Since arriving at the big show, he has gone 1-3 with one no contest. His lone victory was an admirable one, as he stifled dangerous knockout artist Robelis Despaigne by unanimous decision. However, Lane was knocked out in his next appearance by Mario Pinto, which took place in March. ... Petrino (11-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC) has suffered the first two losses of his professional career in succession. The Brazilian comes in after a first-round submission loss to Anthony Smith and a third-round knockout loss against Dustin Jacoby. In his first fight of 2025, Petrino will look to get back on track, and return to the form of a fighter that impressed on DWCS and then won his first four fights in the UFC. Austen Lane vs. Vitor Petrino UFC on ESPN 70 expert pick, prediction Death, taxes, and the UFC matchmakers force-feeding us lower-level heavyweights on Fight Night main cards. Although this might be one of the few pairings that the UFC can put together that are exempt from the "t-shirt in the pool division" criticisms of the current state of heavyweight, I'm not sure how high you should set your expectations for Vitor Petrino vs. Austen Lane. Petrino looks the part and has shown the athletic potential that can translate to the fight game, whereas Lane is a completely different kind of athlete that, despite the relentless enthusiasm from the gen pop when it comes to football players, doesn't seem to translate well to fighting at all. That's right, it may hurt (particularly American) fans to realize this, but sport-specific or general athleticism doesn't guarantee you success when it comes to fighting, folks. I'm not even talking about technique over size or any of that nonsense, either. This "sport," particularly at heavyweight, comes down to whether or not you have that "it" in you and if you can use it to deal damage. Lane has looked to have made real efforts into expanding his skills as a martial artist (which I greatly respect), but I still don't believe Lane has "it" from a top-level fighting perspective. I know that my home country has been almost conditioned to worship football players since grade school, but can we finally give the "he used to play football" hype narrative a rest, considering that, realistically, Brendan Schaub is sadly the best in this category? Please? Anyway, the pick is Petrino by knockout in Round 2. Austen Lane vs. Vitor Petrino UFC on ESPN 70 odds The oddsmakers and the public are heavily favoring the Brazilian fighter, listing Petrino -650 and Lane +420 via FanDuel. Austen Lane vs. Vitor Petrino UFC on ESPN 70 start time, how to watch Lane and Petrino are expected to walk to the cage at approximately 9:40 p.m. ET. The fight broadcasts live on ESPN and ESPN+.

Morgan Charriere vs. Nate Landwehr prediction, pick, start time for UFC on ESPN 70

Morgan Charriere and Nate Landwehr meet Saturday on the main card of UFC on ESPN 70 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn. Check out this quick breakdown of the matchup from MMA Junkie analyst Dan Tom. Last event: 2-3 UFC main cards, 2025: 64-48-1 Morgan Charriere vs. Nate Landwehr UFC on ESPN 70 preview Charriere (20-11-1 MMA, 2-2 UFC) has traded wins and losses since entering the UFC, and comes in on the heels of a loss to Nathaniel Wood in March. Charriere hasn't lost back-to-back fights since 2021, which sparked a four-fight streak that led to his UFC debut in 2023. The French fighter will aim to get back in the win column as a comfortable favorite. ... Landwehr (18-6 MMA, 5-4 UFC) has also bounced in and out of the winner's circle of his last four fights, and is also entering off a loss. In December, he was finished by Doo Ho Choi, which followed a first-round TKO of Jamall Emmers last March. Morgan Charriere vs. Nate Landwehr UFC on ESPN 70 expert pick, prediction In what is arguably the best fight on the entire card, Nate Landwehr will welcome Morgan Charriere to his home state. As someone who has been interviewing and following Landwehr's career since his M-1 days, it's awesome to have seen Nate "The Train" become such a fan favorite for the wars he tends to bring out of his opponents. And though he was on the receiving end in his last fight with the talented Doo Ho Choi, it's important to note that Landwehr was dealing with a myriad of issues, ranging from illness to at least one broken hand. That said, Charriere can be a handful for any fighter to deal with, healthy or not. A quietly experienced regional player who sustained a plethora of deceptively close losses to noted fighters, Charriere's career has sometimes been a frustrating follow. Although you can argue that a decent amount of Charriere's decision losses could have easily gone his way, the Frenchman's propensity to play his opponent's game and not punctuate rounds has undoubtedly been a source of his shortcomings. Don't get me wrong, Charriere is the deserved favorite in this spot given their potential career trajectories and the fact that Landwehr has been blown out by lesser competition before. However, if Charriere comes short of anything but a finish or an outright outclassing in the first frame, then "The Last Pirate" will likely find himself falling into Landwehr's favored style of fight. Even though Charriere is more than capable of winning a war, I'll take a flier on Landwehr to survive some early scares and feed off the crowd en route to securing some key moments down the stretch. The pick is Landwehr to come out on the right side of a greasy split decision on the scorecards. Morgan Charriere vs. Nate Landwehr UFC on ESPN 70 odds The oddsmakers and the public favor the French fighter, listing Charriere -250 and Landwehr +190 via FanDuel. Morgan Charriere vs. Nate Landwehr UFC on ESPN 70 start time, how to watch Charriere and Landwehr are expected to walk to the cage at approximately 10:10 p.m. ET. The fight broadcasts live on ESPN and ESPN+.
