CAIRO, June 23 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdelatty held a series of phone calls Monday with a number of his counterparts in the region on the latest developments in the region.
Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia Faisal bin Farhan, Foreign Minister of Bahrain Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Foreign Minister of Kuwait Abdullah Al-Yahya, Foreign Minister of Iraq Fuad Hussein, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan Ayman Safadi were contacted.
The discussions focused on the rapidly evolving situation in the region, particularly in light of the blatant violation of Qatar's sovereignty.
During the calls, Abdelatty voiced Egypt's full solidarity with the State of Qatar following the recent Iranian attacks on its territory.
He underscored Egypt's condemnation of any infringement on Qatar's sovereignty and security, and rejected all forms of aggression targeting the sovereignty, stability, and security of fellow Arab nations.
The conversations also addressed the implications of the attacks on Qatar and the broader threat they pose to regional security and stability, as well as the growing military escalation and its potential dangers.
The Arab foreign ministers agreed on the urgent need to de-escalate tensions, exercise restraint, and coordinate regional and international efforts to contain the crisis and restore calm in the region. (MENA)

OPN// Egypt condemns attacks of Israeli settlers on WB

CAIRO, June 28 (MENA) - Egypt strongly condemned the repeated attacks carried out by Israeli settlers against innocent Palestinian civilians in several towns and villages across the occupied West Bank, the most recent of which resulted in the killing and injury of a number of Palestinians in the village of Kafr Malik. Egypt affirmed that there is no doubt these systematic assaults against the Palestinian people constitute a blatant violation of international law and the four Geneva Conventions. These attacks also undermine all efforts aimed at achieving security, peace, and stability. In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigration on Saturday, Egypt emphasized the urgent need for the international community to take action to put an end to these blatant violations and to assume its responsibility in confronting the ongoing injustices faced by the Palestinian people under the occupation. Egypt reiterated its firm position that all Israeli settlements in the occupied Arab territories are illegal and represent a major obstacle to reaching a just settlement of the Palestinian cause, added the statement. Egypt reaffirmed its full support for the brotherly Palestinian people in achieving their legitimate aspirations to establish an independent state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Thousands mourn top Iranian military commanders and scientists killed in Israeli strikes - Region

Thousands of mourners lined the streets of downtown Tehran on Saturday for the funeral of the head of the Revolutionary Guard and other top commanders and nuclear scientists killed during a 12-day war with Israel. The caskets of Guard's chief Gen. Hossein Salami, the head of the Guard's ballistic missile program, Gen. Amir Ali Hajizadeh and others were driven on trucks along the capital's Azadi Street as people in the crowds chanted: 'Death to America' and 'Death to Israel.' Salami and Hajizadeh were both killed on the first day of the war, June 13, as Israel launched a war it said meant to destroy Iran's nuclear program, specifically targeting military commanders, scientists and nuclear facilities. Several strikes hit residential areas, killing family members and civilians nearby. There was no immediate sign of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in the state broadcast of the funeral. Khamenei, who has not made a public appearance since before the outbreak of the war, has in past funerals held prayers for fallen commanders over their caskets before the open ceremonies, later aired on state television. Over 12 days before a ceasefire was declared on Tuesday, Israel claimed it killed around 30 Iranian commanders and 11 nuclear scientists, while hitting eight nuclear-related facilities and more than 720 military infrastructure sites. More than 1,000 people were killed, including at least 417 civilians, according to the Washington-based Human Rights Activists group. In response, Iran fired more than 550 ballistic missiles at Israel, most of which were intercepted, but those that got through caused damage in many areas and killed 28 people. Saturday's ceremonies were the first public funerals for top commanders since the ceasefire, and Iranian state television reported that they were for 60 people in total, including four women and four children. Authorities closed government offices to allow public servants to attend the ceremonies. Iran has always insisted its nuclear program is only for peaceful purposes. But Israel said its military campaign was necessary to prevent Iran from building an atomic weapon. Khamenei's last public appearance was June 11, two days before Israel launched attacks on Tehran, when he met with Iranian parliamentarians. On Thursday, however, he released a pre-recorded video, in his first message since the end of the war, filled with warnings and threats directed toward the United States and Israel, the Islamic Republic's longtime adversaries. The 86-year-old downplayed U.S. strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites as having not achieved 'anything significant' and claimed victory over Israel. Although, US President Donald Trump has claimed the US strikes 'completely and fully obliterated' Iran's nuclear programme, insisting it has been set back by decades, Iran is believed to have moved a portion of its highly enriched uranium stockpile ahead of the strikes, something it told the UN nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), it planned to do. Still, Rafael Grossi, the IAEA director general, told Radio France International that damage to the Fordo site—located deep in a mountain—was 'very, very, very considerable'. He said the site's centrifuges, 'quite precise machines', would likely have suffered 'important physical damage' from multiple 30,000-pound bombs. 'These centrifuges are no longer operational,' he said. Grossi has faced growing criticism inside Iran for issuing contradictory statements that officials say created political cover for US and Israeli attacks on the country. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran had not yet decided whether to grant access to IAEA inspectors to assess the damage. 'They will be kept out for the time being,' he said, speaking on Iranian state television late on Thursday. He added that US military intervention had further derailed diplomatic efforts. 'The American decision to intervene militarily made it more complicated and more difficult,' he said, referring to the prospects of resuming talks on Iran's nuclear programme. *This story was edited by Ahram Online. Congratulations to Egypt

Elham Aboul Fateh A major victory for the Egyptian parliament was achieved this week. Egypt assumed the presidency of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean (PAUfM) . Egypt was elected unanimously by the member states, who voted for MP Mohamed Abou El-Enein, Deputy Speaker of the Egyptian Parliament, to assume the presidency of the Mediterranean Parliament. This victory is the result of Egypt's foreign policy and the world's growing confidence in the wisdom of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who was able to restore Egypt's regional and international position with steady steps and a clear vision. MP Mohamed Abou El-Enein emphasized this in his speech after assuming the presidency, where he spoke about President Sisi's wisdom, leadership, and wise leadership that has restored Egypt's leadership in its region and the world, and about the major role played by the Egyptian Parliament in its current session, headed by Counselor Dr. Hanafi El-Gebali, and the achievements made during the recent period. He presented a comprehensive roadmap for cooperation between the two shores of the Mediterranean, based on the principle of equality and equivalence, far from conditional aid or unbalanced relations, with an ambitious vision that takes relations from words to implementation, from crises to practical solutions, in the spirit of true cooperation. I was there and I felt proud as an Egyptian, as my heart was filled with pride for my country since it gained the world's respect and appreciation. I saw looks of respect directed at Egypt, not only for its historical weight, but also for its role and its plans for the future. Egypt's selection to assume the presidency of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean (PAUfM), with the unanimous support of 38 countries, confirms that it remains the cornerstone of stability in the region and the natural bridge linking the North to the South, and Europe to the Arab world and Africa. MP Mohamed Abou El-Enein, the new President of the Euro-Mediterranean Parliament, is a highly experienced parliamentarian with a long history of international engagement. He possesses a capacity for influence, dialogue, and joint construction. This is what made his selection widely welcomed and appreciated. The selection of Egypt is a victory for its policies, institutions, political leaders, and people. Congratulations to Egypt. God bless Egypt. read more Analysis- Turkey Has 0 Regional Allies... Why?
