Best Picks Acting Editor shares her Euro summer essentials: July, RayBan, Hommey and more
I'm heading home this weekend for a much needed Euro summer break to spend time in the sun with friends and family.
While I always try my best to pack light, it's been two years since my last return so I've given myself plenty of room for gifts (plus a few additional outfit options).
There's a few familiar faces going into my case this time around, like my ride or die A.Emery sandals, Uniqlo AIRism tees and Ena Pelly denim shorts.
But I've also treated myself to some new summer essentials; think trendy sunglasses, comfy pjs and a sleek one piece to replace my old swimmers that have seen better days.
Other new additions joining me on my travels are these handy Tile trackers. They work using Bluetooth to track and map out exactly where they are, so I'll be popping one inside my checked luggage to follow it en route.
Despite being a seasoned traveller, I chop and change the essentials I'm hauling overseas. This time around, there are 7 items that have made the cut — and I've popped them below.

While I'm a big advocate for carry-on luggage, an international trip requires a larger case for all kinds of big and bulky items that I'm hauling back to the UK.

It's no secret that rain often makes an appearance during the British summertime, so I've made sure my Blunt umbrella is really to be packed inside my case.
Instead of the trusty black version I also own, it felt only fitting that the Fairway Green joins me on my travels as I head to Wimbledon since it matches the brief perfectly!

Every vacation needs a great pair of sunnies, and I had been eyeing up this pair of Ray-Bans for a while.
Instead of jet-black, I've noticed that lighter colours better suit my complexion, especially brown colours and tortoise shell print s in slightly slimmer frames.

5. Juliette Soft Work Tote, $325 at July
My July carry-on case has been my trusty companion for a few years now, but I've been after a smaller bag to safely carry my laptop and other items I like to keep close.
Everyone has been talking about the new Juliette tote — and for good reason.
Made from a soft buttery PU coated fabri c, it feels luxe and expensive, and has a handy removable drink bottle holder, secure zipper and pass-through band so I can easily slide over luggage handles onto both carry-on and checked-in cases.

The latest arrival that caught my eye is the Zarla one piece, with a sleek one shoulder and subtle waist cinch.
While it's a gorgeous print for Euro summer, I know it'll be on high rotation once summer rolls back around in Sydney.

How to spend 24 hours in Northbridge
If long-haul international travel is feeling beyond reach right now, there's no better time to play tourist in your own city. And Northbridge may just be the ideal destination for a winter staycation, with a series of arts and culture events, dining specials, new openings and old favourites to warm the bones and awaken the mind. Inspired by Black Swan's explosive new play Never Have I Ever, we have put together a 24-hour itinerary for those eager to shake off the mid-year blues with an impromptu mini break in the heart of Perth. Check into the Alex Hotel, which sits pretty in the heart of Northbridge. The boutique hotspot celebrates its 10th year of business in 2015, and yet its design-forward aesthetic still feels just as current, not to mention the location within easy walking distance to all the area's best bars and restaurants. At 5pm, pop a coat on and head across the road to new watering hole Winston, which is from the same crew as The Bird, Ezra Pound and South Bird Hot Chicken. The New Orleans-style speakeasy has a fun handwritten menu of cocktails that change every week — a sweet, a sour, a stiff and a surprise — plus nightly specials and often a DJ spinning blues and jazz on the decks. Now it's back over to Shadow Wine Bar to try out its pre-theatre menu. This first-time collaboration with Black Swan State Theatre Company is exclusive for ticket holders and represents superb value at $35 for pasta and wine, with options including linguine with blue swimmer crab, bottarga, tomato and chilli, pan-fried ricotta gnocchi with king oyster mushrooms and burnt butter or rigatoni with lamb ragu, olives, chilli and pecorino. Never Have I Ever runs until July 6. For a sweet treat post-show, Chicho Gelato has a decadent hot chocolate menu. It's a hard choice whether to opt for the Euro with its whipped cream, house-made crostoli and cocoa dust, the Chocomallow topped with a slab of house-made marshmallow and torched to order or the Chocogato, a riff on the classic affogato ice-cream dessert. After breakfast at the hotel, wander over to The Art Gallery of WA to see the celebration of creativity that is the West Australian Pulse 2025. With 61 works by 2024 Year 12 Visual Arts graduates from 37 schools across WA, it is equal parts engaging, thought-provoking and smile-inducing. And even better, entry is free. To round out the staycation, a hearty lunch at multi-level tavern Fallow is in order. This restaurant just rung in one year of operation and feels primed for winter with its warm interior and indulgent menu. Friday has a Steak Frites special from 12pm-3pm — chargrilled minute steak, Fallow fries, cafe de paris butter and a glass of house wine or middy of swan for $25 — or Sunday visitors can go all-out with a classic roast for $33.
