The Elite 11 starts Tuesday night and goes through Thursday in Manhattan Beach, Calif. Rivals national recruiting director Adam Gorney gives the latest on each of the 20 quarterbacks and offers a thought on what he wants to see during the event.

No quarterback has been busier or presented with more options in the last few weeks than Beaver. The three-star from Murrieta (Calif.) Vista Murrieta landed a new offer from Oregon, perceived to be the leader now, and he visited Alabama and Ole Miss over the weekend.

He looked very good at the Rivals Camp Series in Los Angeles so how will he look making plenty of tough throws through the gauntlet Wednesday night.
The Texas commit missed time during his junior season with a lower leg injury and so we want to see how he's bounced back from that at an event where he'll have to throw on the run, throw the ball a lot, use his legs often and his endurance will get tested.
Texas coach Steve Sarkisian knows quarterbacks and he prioritized Bell early.

Bentley runs all kinds of sets – from under center to empty – at Celina, Texas, and his film is really impressive. Maybe he didn't have his best performance at the regional so we'll be looking for consistency and whether he can get in a rhythm in this setting.

Some guys are just gamers as Oklahoma and LSU are battling it out until the end. Some believe the Tigers might have the slightest edge, but he's also a top priority of Oklahoma OC Ben Arbuckle.
In the best-case scenario, Brandon proves he's the No. 1 quarterback in the class without question although the other five-stars (except Keisean Henderson) no-showed at the regional so won't be at the finals.
Worst case is that he's a Nico Iamaleava clone on the field with bright spots but also low points. There's no question Brandon has a gun and is super impressive by every measure so the pressure is on this week to back it up.

The new North Carolina commit who chose to play for coach Bill Belichick over Auburn and others was bumped up to four-star status recently because he has all the physical tools but does need to work on his consistency, especially throwing deep.
This week will test him in that way for sure and if he answers the call with those measurables then that will be really intriguing.

There have been hits and misses at Draper (Utah) Corner Canyon as the offense operates to put up huge numbers but that's why rankings cannot be based only on statistics.

The Texas A&M commit missed time with a foot injury last year but when he's in rhythm he can deliver it all over the field. With volume throws at the Elite 11, we'll see if Casuga can be consistent over the three-day event.

One 7-on-7 coach told me that Cherry was the best quarterback they faced all offseason – and this coach had seen them all.
That was big praise for the four-star Louisville commit who has excellent size and a big arm and should be a perfect fit both stylistically and personality-wise for coach Jeff Brohm.

Is Miami coach Mario Cristobal trying to find his next Cam Ward? Coleman has some of the same qualities and style of play and the ball really pops off his hand.

At times, Coleman steps too much into his throw during 7-on-7 and in-game settings that could be dangerous with a collapsing pocket. In terms of dynamic arm ability, the four-star Miami commit has it all.

Duckworth is a multi-sport athlete and a multi-sport big-time winner – and that cannot be taught. The four-star from Jackson, Ala., is not a completely finished product but that might mean he has the most upside among the group (or he struggles putting it together as the game gets bigger and faster at the next level).
Auburn and South Carolina (where he was once committed) are battling hard for him.
I've argued for some time that Fette – ranked as the No. 12 quarterback in the 2026 class – might be one of the more underrated QBs in the class. The Elite 11 will be a major determining factor for the Arizona State commit, who turned down a bevy of SEC offers to stick with coach Kenny Dillingham.

He has a dynamic arm, he can throw on the run and his RPO game might be something he can't exploit in this setting but he's really great there, too.

We haven't seen the Florida quarterback commit in a minute but he's always been a physical presence. Now let's see on the biggest stage if he can throw timing routes, layer throws over linebackers and hit receivers in-stride on deep balls where only they can catch it.
There's no question the Tampa (Fla.) Jesuit standout has all the physical tools possible.

The other five-star quarterback at the event, Henderson is a phenomenal talent who has refined his game so much over the last two years. There was a time when we thought Henderson might have to move positions but he was excellent at the Navy All-American Bowl and might actually be underrated at No. 7 nationally.

A big week at the Elite 11 could push the Houston commit higher.

Huhn is a big-bodied pocket passer who works off play-action, can throw on the run and dissect defenses with time to find receivers. Let's see how he does layering the ball, throwing on time to speedy receivers and how he gets through the 20-throw gauntlet on Wednesday night.
He was very impressive at the Under Armour Camp in Los Angeles and can build on that from here.

The four-star from Cincinnati (Ohio) Moeller is one of the most interesting QBs at the Elite 11. Mainly because he's a star baseball player as well so we really want to examine his throwing motion and how fast the ball comes out.

His recruitment is interesting, too, since Alabama and Oregon have emerged as contenders but both are going after other Elite 11 QBs as well – mainly Iowa State commit Jett Thomalla for the Crimson Tide and Beaver for the Ducks.
Also a two-sport star who plans to play baseball at Clemson, Reynolds looked good at the Los Angeles regional and is also headed to the Rivals Five-Star along with doing the Elite 11 so he's not ducking competition.
The word I've gotten is that his high school team isn't stacked on offense and that's why his stats haven't been off the charts. He'll have plenty of time to prove himself over three days at the Elite 11.

Rios has been one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the West this recruiting cycle. He's long and lean so it's surprising how quickly and effortlessly he gets the ball out but he's just wiry strong.
The Downey, Calif., four-star has seen UCLA surge in his recruitment but he likes Arizona, Kentucky and others as well. Rios has outplayed his earlier rankings and could move even higher if he shows that accuracy we've seen at many other events.
Thomalla has a lot on his mind as the Iowa State commit is being worked hard to flip to Alabama and it wouldn't be a surprise if he picks the Crimson Tide soon. On the field, Thomalla is a phenomenal athlete and playmaker (just watch some of his basketball dunks) but he might not be a finished product yet.

He wouldn't have to be at Alabama, ahem, Keelon Russell is next in line, but Thomalla is competitive and savvy.

I like Walker a little more than his high three-star ranking indicates and it will be interesting to see how he performs at the Elite 11. He's a little bit of a gunslinger and risk-taker on film which won't translate to the programmed throws at this event, but we'll still get to see how he performs and what chances he takes.
Duke landed his commitment and he could shine there as he has the moxie and the talent to see the field early.

There is some five-star buzz around Williams as USC flipped him from Oregon and chose him as its top quarterback in the class even when Ryder Lyons was still very interested in the Trojans. There is some major intrigue here: Williams is young but he also has hands slightly on the smaller side. We'll see if that matters at the Elite 11 but it might be something to watch down the line during the NFL pre-draft process.
Either way, the USC pledge might be better than any QB in this group when he throws his receivers open and puts it only where they can catch it.

The Washington commit is a low three-star but we could be proven very wrong with a strong performance at the Elite 11. He plays with toughness and a competitive drive. He has confidence in his arm talent and he can escape pressure at the high school level. There's a chance Zammit shines in this setting.
Washington coach Jedd Fisch and Alabama's Kalen DeBoer certainly saw something as they battled to the end for him.

Before the first buzzer sounds at Paycom Center and long after the final horn fades, there's a quiet force standing guard near the visiting locker room. Most know him simply as Coach Mack. But behind that calm presence and wide smile is Marvin Mack, a 75-year-old Langston University alum and high school coaching legend who has become a cherished symbol of what HBCU excellence looks like outside the spotlight. Advertisement Whether it's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander flashing a grin, Kendrick Perkins sharing a hug, or Chris Paul stopping for a quick handshake, players and coaches alike know exactly who he is. And they always show respect. Recently 'Coach Mack' sat down with Marc J. Spears from Andscape to talk about his life. A Son of Guthrie, Raised with Grit and Grace Mack was born and raised in Guthrie, Oklahoma, a town just 40 miles north of downtown OKC. He lost his father at the age of two, a military man struck by shrapnel while serving. His mother, Opal Beasley Mack, raised eight children while working as a sharecropper with no more than a third-grade education. Advertisement 'She picked cotton. She made things happen. We were never hungry. We were never dirty,' Mack said. Though they grew up in poverty, Mack's mother demanded excellence and self-respect from her children. 'No grades below a C,' was her rule, and there was a deeper lesson. She wanted her children to rise above the racism and danger that surrounded them, including a Ku Klux Klan office that operated openly in their hometown. 'She was preparing us for life,' Mack said. 'We had to be better than our opposition. We had to go through the back door to get sandwiches. That's what we lived with.' Langston Roots, HBCU Pride In 1969, Marvin Mack enrolled at Langston University, Oklahoma's only historically Black college. He played basketball from 1969 to 1973 under Coach Glen Gibson. Mack called Langston 'one of the best decisions of my life.' Advertisement 'I met my best friend there. He was from Nigeria,' Mack recalled. 'Langston showed me the world.' For Mack, the court became both a sanctuary and a gateway. He chose Langston not just out of proximity, but out of duty to his mother, knowing that a scholarship was his only way to earn a degree. He balanced books and ball, building himself into a fundamentally sound player. He didn't turn pro. But he turned into something far more impactful: a mentor. The Coach Behind the Name Tag Before the NBA, before Paycom, Mack was simply 'Coach.' He began coaching elementary kids at just 12 years old through a local Youth Corps program. Eventually, he found his calling in Oklahoma City Public Schools, where he led Douglass High School's girls' varsity basketball team for 25 years. Advertisement From 1980 to 2005, his Douglass Trojettes were feared for their defense, respected for their discipline and admired for their success. More than 200 former players returned to honor Mack at a reunion banquet two years ago. 'We took the state by storm,' Mack said. 'We never won it all, but we always showed up.' The nickname 'Coach Mack' followed him everywhere. When he was hired in 2003 to work security at what was then called the Ford Center, he immediately rejected the name tag that read 'Marvin.' ''What is this?' I said. 'That's me, but it's not me.' I told them, 'Put Coach Mack on there.' And they did. That's who I am.' Advertisement Security, Not Just by Title When the New Orleans Hornets temporarily relocated to Oklahoma City from 2005–2007 after Hurricane Katrina, Coach Mack got his first taste of the NBA environment. He worked the visiting locker room and immediately earned a reputation for being respectful, professional, and genuinely kind. He'd greet players with a smile, offer words of encouragement, and always say, 'Welcome to Oklahoma City, gentlemen.' Some brushed it off. But most never forgot it. By the time the Thunder arrived in 2008, Coach Mack had already become a fixture. His role wasn't defined by his uniform. It was defined by his presence. Advertisement NBA players, coaches, media, even legends like Kevin Garnett, Chris Paul, and Kobe Bryant, all paid homage to the man. The Kobe Moment One of Mack's proudest memories came in 2016, during Kobe Bryant's final game in Oklahoma City. Amid the chaos of the media swarm, Mack heard someone yell his name. 'Coach Mack! Kobe wants to take a picture with you!' Though security staff are typically discouraged from taking photos, he made an exception. He's glad he did. 'That was amazing,' he said. 'Kobe asked for me. It was an honor I'll never forget.' More Than a Job — A Purpose Today, Coach Mack continues to hold down the visiting hallway at Paycom Center. He's approaching 80, yet still shows up to every Thunder game with energy and enthusiasm. He sees his job as more than security, it's about connection. Advertisement 'I know somebody might be walking through that door who needs to hear something kind,' he said. 'Especially young Black men. Life's not easy out there.' And it's not just the guests who benefit. Thunder forward Jaylin Williams said Coach Mack 'gives me tips about the game all the time.' Head coach Mark Daigneault called him a key part of the team's culture, saying, 'He treats everybody with respect and dignity.' Mack also shares a bond with other Thunder staffers. From ushers to operations, everyone knows Coach Mack. Everyone respects him. OKC businesses see historic crowds for Thunder parade
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – Some Oklahoma City businesses say they're recovering after Tuesday's Champions parade for the Oklahoma City Thunder after seeing historic turnouts. The two-mile route started at NW 10th Street and N. Harvey Avenue and headed south on Harvey, west on NW 5th Street, south on N. Walker Avenue, east on Oklahoma City Boulevard, south on S. Robinson Avenue, and ended at Scissortail Park. Thunder fans swarm downtown to celebrate during the Champions parade Cross streets and other surrounding streets were closed, but some businesses decided to welcome the large crowds instead of closing their doors. News 4 spoke with Hobby's Hoagies owner, Kim Nixon, on Thursday, still coming off of Tuesday's celebration. 'We got here around eight o'clock, opened the doors, and it was a madhouse,' said Nixon. 'We've been in business for 34 years, and that was the biggest day we ever had.' City leaders estimate that at least half a million people attended the parade, but the exact numbers and economic impact are still being determined. Nixon said, on Tuesday, she and her staff were basically limping at the end of the day due to how packed they were. She didn't go into specifics on numbers, but said she plans to reward her employees for their hard work. 'We got a little bonuses coming in for them,' said Nixon. 'So they don't know about yet, but I guess they will find out now, though.' It's a similar story of success for Nazo, a Japanese restaurant in Midtown, near NW 10th Street and N. Harvey Avenue, if you ask the staff there. News 4 visited the business on Monday before the parade and were told it had only been open for less than a month. 'We were pretty packed that day,' said Eason Liu, an employee at Nazo. 'You know, that is great.' Liu said typically the restaurant opens after noon, but he and the staff came in around 10 a.m. Tuesday morning to welcome in customers and bring water to the crowds facing the heat. Both businesses say they hope to have a chance to do it all over again next year. 'We will have another championship parade next year,' said Nixon. Langeliers and Butler lead Athletics past Rays
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Shea Langeliers smashed a three-run homer in his first plate appearance since coming off the injured list, and Lawrence Butler broke a ninth-inning tie with a two-run triple that lifted the Athletics over the Tampa Bay Rays 6-4 on Monday night. The Athletics made two key defensive plays in the bottom of the eighth to keep it tied at 4. The Rays had runners on first and second with no outs when Junior Caminero hit a hard grounder to third, but Max Muncy stepped on the bag and threw to first for a double play. Josh Lowe then singled to left field but Colby Thomas threw a dart to home plate to get Brandon Lowe. Butler sent a shot to the wall in left-center field to score runners from second and third on his second triple of the season. Sean Newcomb (2-4) got the final out in the eighth, and Mason Miller worked a scoreless ninth to earn his 16th save. Brent Rooker had an RBI single for the Athletics, who had lost six of eight.
