Hyderabad: A total of over 12.48 lakh cases were settled, including 4,63,038 pre-litigation and 7,85,011 pending court cases during the National Lok Adalat conducted by Telangana State Legal Services Authority (TSLSA) across the state on Saturday.
Around 935 crore was paid as monetary compensation to the beneficiaries.
The compensation includes a motor accident compensation claim of 1.40 crore awarded to the family of a deceased police constable in Kamareddy district, one of the highest in the district's history.
For the Lok Adalat, 319 Lok Adalat benches were formed — 315 in judicial districts, two at the High Court, and two at the Debt Recovery Tribunals in Hyderabad.
Acting Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court and Executive Chairman of TSLSA Justice Sujoy Paul oversaw the event, which saw widespread participation and significant outcomes statewide.
Justice Sujoy Paul highlighted the importance of Lok Adalats in reducing court burdens and promoting goodwill. "Lok Adalat ensures a win-win outcome for both parties. It not only saves judicial time but also prevents prolonged litigation," he stated.

Yogi govt ensured punishment for 15k criminals in a year

Lucknow: In a strong assertion of its zero-tolerance policy towards crime, Yogi govt ensured convictions of over 15,000 criminals in one year through its 'Operation Conviction' campaign. The initiative, aimed at fast-tracking justice in heinous crimes, resulted in punishments for offenders involved in murder, rape, dacoity, loot, kidnapping and crimes under Pocso Act. Launched a year ago on the CM's directive, the campaign identified 47,149 serious criminal cases across the state. Of these, 19,584 were disposed of in courts, resulting in 15,641 convictions. According to director general of prosecution, Deepesh Juneja, the highest number of convictions was recorded under the Pocso Act and rape cases, where 6,075 criminals were sentenced out of 9,140 decided cases, achieving a conviction rate of 66.46%. In murder cases, 3,411 convicts were punished out of 4,137 trials, with a conviction rate of 82.45%. Similarly, 174 convicts were punished in dacoity cases (out of 203 trials) – an 85.71% conviction rate. 740 criminals were convicted in loot cases (out of 780 trials) – a 94.87% conviction rate. 5,175 convicts were sentenced in theft and burglary cases (out of 5,246 trials) – a 98.64% conviction rate. 66 offenders were punished in kidnapping cases (out of 78 trials) – an 84.61% conviction rate. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Want Smarter Apps? To expedite trials, govt deployed advanced technological tools, including the e-prosecution portal, case tracking system, and virtual court hearings. Prosecution officers at the district level were trained to review cases swiftly, ensuring that criminals do not escape conviction due to technical lapses.

3 held for stoking communal hatred

Lucknow: With the arrest of three people, Uttar Pradesh Police on Monday claimed to have foiled an alleged Pakistan-linked digital conspiracy to incite communal riots and possible terror attacks during the Kanwar Yatra in western UP. The miscreants were arrested for allegedly circulating morphed and inflammatory videos and audios designed to provoke communal hatred, police said. Police confirmed the footage was from Muzaffargarh in Pakistan and was related to an incident involving the murder of a woman and her seven children by her husband in April last year. The conspirators misrepresented this incident to spark communal violence. A special police team arrested Mohammed Nadeem (25), Mansher (45), and Rahees alias Furkan (35) from Kakrauli. Three mobile phones used for spreading the content were seized, and a case under relevant BNS sections and the UAPA Act has been registered. Investigations are underway to identify other collaborators, with possible links to radical outfits and Pakistani agencies, said police officers in the DGP headquarters. "The digital diagnostics revealed that the morphed message originated from Pakistan," said Bhanu Bhaskar, additional DG, Meerut zone. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Nikoo Homes: Luxury Starts @ ₹1.2 Cr* Nikoo Homes Sadahalli Learn More Undo Given Muzaffarnagar's sensitive law-and-order environment, the security was intensified with the deployment of the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Rapid Action Force and rigorous social media monitoring. The police identified a WhatsApp group, 'Kakrauli Yuva Ekta', where fake videos and audios were being circulated to inflame tensions. "This was not just an attempt to spread communal hatred but a premeditated plan to provoke riots and possibly orchestrate a lone-wolf terror attack," said a senior officer. On the directions of DGP Rajeev Krishna, the police are continuously monitoring social media, said Bhanu Bhaskar.

ISKCON's Govinda's reports social media influencer eating KFC inside Soho restaurant to police

Man eats chicken in an ISKCON restaurant LONDON: Police are investigating after a young black male YouTuber waltzed into the famous Govinda's vegan and vegetarian restaurant in Soho on Saturday, pulled out a tub of KFC and started eating chicken in front of horrified staff and guests. The restaurant is run by ISKCON UK's Radha-Krishna Temple in Soho. Temple president Dayal Mora Dasa has branded the video made by the man, since identified as a TikTok personality, as 'childish' and blamed the incident on the lack of spiritual content in Britain's education system. 'If the truth of the Gita could be taught at schools and universities then such wanton acts of aggression against innocent persons would cease,' he said. The man went into the canteen-style restaurant — often frequented by Indian students — at lunch-time and asked the Krishna devotees working there if it was a vegan restaurant. They replied 'Yes. It's a temple.' He asked, 'Are you sure there is no meat' and then opened up a bucket of KFC and ate the chicken fillets, offering them around, shouting 'Free the chicken'. A video of the incident went viral, offending Hindus worldwide, with some offering to pay to privately prosecute the man if police don't. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Villas For Sale in Dubai Might Surprise You Villas in Dubai | Search Ads Get Info Undo Govinda's has reported the incident to the police. Dasa said: 'Srila Prabhupada established temple communities in many major world cities, often in some of the most degraded and dilapidated areas, because that is where the people needed his message the most. Soho street was and still is a red-light district in London and unmentionable deplorable acts are unfortunately visible every evening. Once on a British TV show the reporter asked Swamiji, 'Do you have a concept of hell in your religion?' 'Yes,' Prabhupada replied. 'London is hell.'' 'Religious leaders and govt heads have as yet failed to come up with a solution for the degradation of society, particularly amongst the youth. Due to insufficient spiritual content in their education and poor role models in society, young people are now deriving happiness from other people's misery…The incident in Govinda's was one of countless incidents… filmed and posted on social media for the morbid enjoyment of viewers and followers…,' he said. Restaurant manager Thirupati Gauranga Dasa said it was a 'clear act of provocation'. 'Since 1969, Govinda's has served as a spiritual sanctuary within the ISKCON tradition, offering karma-free meals. Bringing and consuming meat inside the premises was fundamentally misaligned with the sacred purpose of the space.'
