Persona 4 remake is happening as actor reveals he was rejected by Atlus
A voice actor from Persona 4 has confirmed a remake is in development, after he 'begged' developer Atlus to be a part of it.
The success of Persona 3 Reload has made another remake in the series practically inevitable, but several rumours in recent months have suggested an announcement could be around the corner.
Earlier this year, singer Shihoko Hirata, who is best known for tracks in Persona 4, appeared to drop a hint she was recording for a new game. Since then, developer Atlus has filed a domain name with a Persona 4 reference, which mirrors the domain name for Persona 3 Reload.
While this evidence already strongly suggested a Persona 4 remake is in development, a voice actor on the original game, Yuri Lowenthal, has now basically confirmed it.
In a post on Bluesky, Lowenthal, who provided the English voice for Yosuke Hanamura in the original game, said he wouldn't be reprising the role in the Persona 4 remake after Atlus turned him down.
'And for those who keep asking, no, I will not be returning as Yosuke for the Persona 4 remake,' Lowenthal wrote. 'I asked. Maybe I even begged, but they don't want me to come back.'
Persona 3 Reload featured an entirely new English voice cast from the original game, so it's possible Atlus is simply committing to the same clean slate for the next remake.
Lowenthal, who voiced the protagonist in the original Persona 3, similarly didn't reprise his role in Persona 3 Reload. However, he did voice another character, Eiichiro Takeba, in the remake – so it's possible the actor could make a guest appearance in the revamped version of Persona 4. More Trending
Along with Yosuke, Lowenthal has voiced a variety of characters in video games, including Peter Parker in Marvel's Spider-Man and the Prince in Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time.
Atlus has not officially announced a Persona 4 remake, but a reliable insider recently teased that a 'few Japanese games' will be revealed during Summer Game Fest on Friday, June 6, so it's possible we could see an announcement there.
Along with a Persona 4 remake, fans are waiting on news of the similarly inevitable Persona 6. The game's predecessor, Persona 5, launched over eight years ago and has spawned a multitude of spin-offs since.

For those who are hiding out from the heat, there's plenty to stream on the big screen. Arriving in August, there's FX's Alien: Earth which sees a space research vessel crash-land on Earth. It leads to a group of tactical soldiers making a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet's greatest threat. It's the year 2120, and humans are living beside cyborgs and synthetics - but a new technological advancement changes everything as hybrids are created, marking a new dawn in the race for immortality. As the series goes on, the hybrids encounter mysterious life forms more terrifying than anyone could have ever imagined. The workplace comedy following a group of dedicated, passionate teachers in a public school in Philadelphia, and a slightly tone-deaf principal, continues with seven new episodes on July 2. As ever there's drama and comedy and plenty to keep you watching. On July 1, fans of the hit show The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives will get to watch the reunion special. After a shocking end to the second series, secrets and scandals will apparently come to the forefront of the special episode when it drops next week. With new footage that has yet to air, a surprise announcement and the usual drama, there's plenty of twists and turns ahead no doubt, hosted by Nick Viall and starring some of the show favourites. Also coming very soon, July 23, is limited new series Washington Black. Based on the bestselling novel with the same name, the series, according to Disney Plus' synopsis, "follows the 19th-century odyssey of George Washington 'Wash' Black, an eleven-year-old boy born on a Barbados sugar plantation, whose prodigious scientific mind sets him on a path of unexpected destiny." The youngster is thrust into a globe-spanning adventure that "challenges and reshapes his understanding of family, freedom and love" after a harrowing incident at the start of the series. The synopsis continues: "As he navigates uncharted lands and impossible odds, Wash finds the courage to imagine a future beyond the confines of the society he was born into." Its cast includes Sterling K. Brown, Ernest Kingsley Jr., Eddie Karanja, Tom Ellis and Sharon Duncan-Brewster. Also coming soon is National Geographic series JAWS @ 50, arriving on July 11. A documentary celebrating the hit film 50 years after it launched in Hollywood, featuring director Steven Spielberg. The inside story will "chart the extraordinary journey from Peter Benchley's bestselling novel to one of the most iconic films ever made". There's behind-the-scenes footage, rare archival footage and interviews, as well as comment from top shark scientists. This is certainly one for Jaws fans, or anyone interested in film... or even sharks. Chris Hemsworth's Limitless series is returning with another instalment soon too, with a date not yet revealed. Titled Limitless: Live Better Now, the series will "will delve into a series of physical and mental obstacles that people across the world face daily". Chris will apparently be pushed to "explore and grow" like never before, travelling to the ends of the Earth to check out some of the world's best-kept secrets to a better life, while checking out the latest science too. The final upcoming series, arriving on 11 July, is ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires. The fourth instalment of the movie series sees Zed and Addison take an unexpected detour on a road trip, landing them amid a monster rivalry. This time tensions will flare as it's Daywalkers vs Vampires, with the characters having to do what they can to convince sworn enemies to unite to take down an even bigger threat. There's plenty of summer content already up on the streaming platform too, including Spanish original series I, Addict, National Geographic series Underdogs and David Attenborough's latest series, Ocean. If that isn't enough, Disney's live action remake of Snow White is ready to stream, as well as new action and science fiction series Predator: Killer of Killers, while Marvel's latest show Ironheart is ready to watch too. In this series, set after the events of the movie Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, a young, genius inventor named Riri Williams is ready to make her mark on the world, only to get caught up with the mysterious yet charming Parker Robbins, known as 'The Hood'. There's also a new season of hit animation Phineas & Ferb, which sees the crew tackle another 104 days of summer and are set for exciting new adventures featuring some unforgettable milestones. The synopsis read: "The boys will break several world records, Candace will take her driver's license test, and Perry will finally make a trip to the vet!" Finally, fans waiting for the latest season of hit series The Bear are in luck too as this is now on the platform. As it kicks off, the characters are "pushing forward, determined not only to survive, but also to take The Bear to the next level." The synopsis reads: "With new challenges around every corner, the team must adapt, adjust and overcome. This season, the pursuit of excellence isn't just about getting better – it's about deciding what's worth holding on to."

Watch: Glastonbury crowd chant ‘death to the IDF'
Is this year's Glastonbury line-up the worst ever? There's Kneecap, of course: those tough-talking IRA cheerleaders who simply LOVE revelling in the imagery of terrorist violence, right up until the point it risks costing a British state grant – or actually serving some jail time. But it seems they now have some fierce competition in the moron stakes from Bob Vylan, an English punk duo. Their music (predictably) focuses on being black in the UK and how terribly tough it is to live in one of the most prosperous, peaceful and established democracies on Earth. So with all their penetrating insight and profoundly original thought, it is no surprise that they brought their Socratic wit to the Glastonbury stage today when they entertained the crowd with their musings on the Middle East. 'Death, death to the IDF' and 'From the river to the sea' were just some of the duo's chants as they gyrated around the stage. Already it has got Tory MPs asking why the BBC chose to broadcast the performance, while others are citing it as proof of Glasto's problems with Jews. Lisa Nandy has certainly come out blazing, with her spokesman telling the Telegraph: The Culture Secretary has spoken to the BBC director-general to seek an urgent explanation about what due diligence it carried out ahead of the Bob Vylan performance, and welcomes the decision not to re-broadcast it on BBC iPlayer. So much for all that talk about love eh?

The footage, from May, showed boarded up shops and less appealing parts of the town, including the Grand Burstin Hotel and dilapidated former Debenhams building in Sandgate Road. It comes after Folkestone was last year crowned Best Place to Live in South East England by the Sunday Times. Many of the almost 500 comments on Olivia's post disagree with her bashing of the town, with one saying: "Folkestone's actually a really lovely place." Another said: "Why did you go to all the horrible parts instead of the nice parts?" One person added: "Who told you to come to Folkestone for the bank holiday though realistically." However, others supported Olivia, writing: "People keep trying to romanticise Folkestone and it's literally a s***hole." Another described it as "b******s". The Sun decided to pay a visit to see what locals and visitors really think. Rebecca Greenway, 29, is among the disgruntled residents that disagree with the video. 'It is their first impression but when you get to know Folkestone you can fall in love with it when you find all the niche little places and meet the people.' Rebecca manages the Folkestone branch of Flo's Pie & Mash, a popular spot among locals. Flo's has been in Folkestone for two years, but Rebecca has lived in the area since she was eight years old, and it is now where she is raising a family of her own. She said: 'I love Folkestone. I like the community feel of it. 'Everything is so locally based and everyone gets on as a community - I really enjoy it.' They have just picked the bad areas to nitpick. You judge a book by its cover. It is their first impression but when you get to know Folkestone you can fall in love with it when you find all the niche little places and meet the people. Rebecca Greenway Rebecca also insists that it isn't just locals who love the area but visitors also sing its praises. She added: 'I just had a customer in who has come from Ramsgate and never been to Folkestone before and he was like 'I love it'.' In reference to the controversial TikTok post, she concluded: 'They just pick the areas and just show the bad and not the good. 'When you come at the right time it is brilliant.' Local residents Melissa and Leon Reed share Rebecca's disapproval of this latest dig. Melissa, 29, has lived in Folkestone her whole life and said: 'I 100% disagree with the TikTok.' Along with her husband Leon, 24, and Tiana thir French Bulldog, the majority of Melissa's extended family also live in the area. She added: 'Nearly all my family live here, my dad is a fisherman on one of the boats down there. 'We have a little bit of everything here - sandy beaches, pebble beaches, lots of new bars. It couldn't be a more amazing site.' Another also added: 'There are lots of things to do with the kids. They love it here.' Owner of Captain's Table cafe, Yasar Dalkilic, has lived in Folkestone for over 20 years. In response to the damning TikTok he said: 'I really strongly disagree. Back in the day it was not a very nice place to live. 'But now, I almost feel like I'm on holiday here in the summer. Everywhere has got good places and bad places - everywhere. 'The people who made the TikTok need to come and see it for themselves with their own eyes.' Down the road from Mr Dalkilic's cafe is Sandy's Fish and Chip shop. A member of Sandy's staff, Sam, 27, said: "Everywhere has got good places and bad places but it depends on what you make of it. "The town is quite run down now but obviously a lot of town centres are not getting the attention they deserve and need at the moment. "But this a really nice little harbour." Local shopowners also urge people to ignore the TikTok video and come see Folkestone for themselves. Kory Redmond, owner of South East Emporium, and mother to toddler, Darwin, moved from London two years ago for a slower pace of life. Adrian Harrison owns a family camera business which has been in Folkestone since 1920. In response to the video, he said: 'I wouldn't say it's a dump, I'd say newcomers rather like Folkestone. It's a nice place, there are far worse.' But one local doesn't share the views of fellow residents, as she told The Sun: 'I don't think Folkestone has a lot to offer. Look at the state of the hotel.
