EastEnders fans left in tears as Linda Carter says goodbye in 'end of an era'
Linda chose to put the boozer up for auction as she became ready to start a new chapter in her life. The Carter family has lived in the pub since 2013 and have faced a multitude of dramatic ordeals since then.
In recent years, Linda has dealt with Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) getting lost at sea, murdering Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters), covering up his death with The Six and earlier this year, the pub exploded as a result of Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman) crashing his car into the side of the building.
And that's not even the half of it!
It's no surprise that Linda wants to start again. In the instalment that aired last night, she handed the keys over to Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace), who became the new owner as a result of Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) gaining access to Martin Fowler's (James Bye) life insurance.
To get her head around the change, Linda decided to temporarily leave Walford.
Having been handed tickets for a cruise from mum Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe), she packed her belongings and waved goodbye to Albert Square.
The scenes marked a massive end of an era, and fans of the BBC One soap were incredibly moved watching Linda depart.
Taking to social media platform X, this fan said: 'Truly the end of an era, just glad that this time it's a decision that's been made on her terms and she's been allowed to say a proper goodbye to the old place and that next chapter of linda carter is going to be sublime, i can feel it #eastenders.'
This audience member reflected on the 12 years Linda lived in the pub and wrote: 'Twelve PHENOMENAL years of having Linda Carter as landlady has come to an end. Kellie has been a powerhouse since joining the show and embodied the landlady role to perfection.
'Going to miss Linda front and centre in the Vic but excited to see what she moves onto next.'
Another wrote: 'Still blows my mind that Linda first took over the pub nearly 12 (!!!) years ago, where has the time gone #EastEnders.' More Trending
In upcoming episodes, as the Slaters get settled into the Queen Vic, Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) will join them.

The character has been away for a while in search of Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan).
When Alfie gets back, Kat wastes no time in confronting him, aware he's been lying to her.
But how long will it be until she learns of Stacey and Alfie's secret?

The new lamp certainly makes a statement - and shoppers love the not-so-subtle reference to a TV icon Dunelm shoppers have been quick to comment on the latest piece of homeware that seems to have connections to a British soap star. The £30 lamp would likely be on their shopping list - and fans of the soap and style were just as interested in the new piece that claims to "make a stylish statement for any space." One of the new quirky lighting options to be added to the homeware store's catalogue, the £30 Kat Leopard Print Table Lamp certainly stands out from the ordinary. Standing at 41cm tall, this table lamp claims to "bring a touch of the wild indoors" with its "bold" design of complete leopard print. On Facebook, members of the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group pointed out the name could be paying tribute to EastEnders icon Kat Slater (played by Jessie Wallace). The person who wrote the post put: "Dunelm calling their new leopard print light Kat!" One said: "Omg that's amazing!" Another person added: "I bloody need this!" And, a third put: "I love it. Bring out my inner Kat Slater!" Someone else commented: "Well, what else would you call your leopard print range!" And, one more tagged a friend and wrote: "This has you written all over it!" Jessie Wallace has played Kat Slater, known for her love of all things leopard print, on the BBC soap on and off since 2000. Her character has been known for some high-profile storylines such as revealing she was the mother (not sister) of Zoe Slater, having her baby son swapped at birth, running the local pub, family feuds, and various romantic relationships - including Alfie Moon, Phil Mitchell and Kush Kazemi. Kat remains a major character in the soap, having been on screen for a third stint since 2018. Fans of the soap are eagerly awaiting the shake-up that will see the mum-of-three back behind the bar at the Queen Victoria pub as landlady. At the time of writing, the £30 lamp has no reviews online. It's available for free click and collect at a Dunelm store or can be delivered to your door for an added £3.95. The homeware store has recently put lots of new and unique-looking lights for sale on the website, sure to add some personality and character to a space. Shoppers could opt for this £28 Flower-Shaped Table Light, a colourful £35 Disco Ball Easy Fit Pendant Shade or an interesting-looking £45 Triceratops Skull Table Lamp. People who are in need of a home refresh, Dunelm has lots of new items available for almost every room in the house. The full range of items added to the ever-growing catalogue can be found here.

EastEnders horror in early iPlayer release as a knife is pulled on major local
This article contains spoilers for tonight's episode of EastEnders, which airs on BBC One at 7.30pm or can be streamed now on iPlayer. Oscar Branning (Pierre Moullier) has turned on one of his own with a knife. As viewers of the soap know, the newbie is in hot water with some vicious thugs, after he tipped off the police about their involvement in the car robbery. The group's ringleader Mike (Tai Hilferink) had tried to petrol bomb Oscar's home, mistakenly targeting the neighbours instead. As a result he was kicked out by mum Tanya (Jo Joyner) and has settled in Albert Square since being released from a youth detention centre. So far he's proved himself to be quite the troublemaker; trying to scam Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt), flirting with just about every man or woman he's crossed, and causing undue stress for his sister Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) and her fiancé Peter Beale (Thomas Law). After discovering that his nephew Jimmy is visually impaired, fans saw a softer side to Oscar, who later volunteered to babysit his two nephews. Disaster struck when Mike let himself into the house, leaving a large kitchen knife jammed in the chopping board as a warning of what he was capable of. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video In today's episode, Lauren found out about the altercation. Louie, who had spotted Mike chatting with Oscar, asked if he was going to return again soon. A troubled Oscar was then forced to explain what had happened, and promised his sister that her sons weren't in danger. Later, after heading to the market for a shift, he spotted Mike and his mate Harrison lurking in the shadows. Knowing that it was high time this stopped, he pulled the lads to one side and tried to find a solution. Harrison swooped in from behind and punched him in the stomach, with Mike lifting a brick over Oscar's head. Luckily, Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) rushed to his defence, but the violence didn't end there. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Who's leaving Coronation Street? Netflix now streaming ‘truly entertaining' British thriller with a ‘mind-blowing' twist ending
An iconic actor teams up with a Peaky Blinders star in this gripping British thriller that's just been added to Netflix Netflix is now streaming an underrated thriller from two years ago that's guaranteed to keep you on your toes. Starring Richard E Grant and Daryl McCormack, fans and critics alike agree this psychological drama is 'mesmerising'. Unfortunately, it didn't quite light the box office on fire upon its original release, though the streaming service has now given the film a well-deserved second chance at success. Penned by Alex MacKeith and directed by Alice Troughton, in her feature film debut after working on iconic shows like EastEnders and Doctor Who, The Lesson deserves the top spot on your watchlist this week. It follows aspiring writer Liam Summers (played by McCormack) who seemingly lands the perfect job, tutoring at the estate of one of his literary heroes, JM Sinclair (Grant). However, his tenure soon takes a dark turn when his idol's family secrets start to bubble to the surface and Liam becomes trapped in a web of deceit. Awards Daily described the thriller as "meticulously crafted" and "mesmerising', while The Spectator was particularly impressed by Grant's "deliciously, marvellously, full-on monstrous" performance. A fan writing on Google reviews also had nothing but praise for Grant's co-star: 'I can't get over how incredible Daryl McCormack is in The Lesson! 'The plot twists had me on the edge of my seat, and the ending was absolutely mind-blowing - I never saw it coming!' Another five-star review gushed: 'The Lesson is a cinematic gem that is so refreshing, witty and entertaining till the very last musical note and cut to end credits. 'The stellar cast's chemistry brings layers of brilliance to the script and to the screen. The editing, score and cinematography simply yet intentionally further elevate the storytelling, creating an unexpected well crafted masterpiece.' 'It completely kept me riveted from the very beginning to the end and through the epilogue. 'An elegant, intelligent, writerly and artful example of a truly entertaining masterpiece. Loved it. I wish there were more like it.' And a final fan summed up The Lesson as 'simply brilliant' in yet another five-star write-up. 'Delightfully quirky, superbly filmed visually, nicely sinister in an almost tongue in cheek manner, brilliantly acted by all the actors.'
