Noel Gallagher overcome with emotion as he halts Oasis' first performance
While singing Half The World Away, Noel stopped singing for a couple of bars and looked emotional as he took in the scenes in front of him. The group started off their long-awaited set with Hello before Liam told the crowd: "Hey beautiful people it's been too long,."
There was a Knebworth vibe to the show as it kicked off, with a football floating around in the crowd.
The second song performed was Acquiesce. Liam then delivered his address before the band belted out Morning Glory.
The hotly-anticipated tour is the culmination of months of speculation, a feverish ticket sale and a long 16 year wait from fans. A shock comeback was unveiled in August 2024, with the band declaring: 'The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised.'
A chaotic rush for tickets followed with 17 dates announced across London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Dublin before the band announced more concerts in North America, Mexico, South Korea, Japan, Australia, Chile and Argentina - giving fans around the world the chance to hear the hits live again.

Ricky Hatton to come out of retirement after 13 years to fight Gulf veteran
British legend Ricky Hatton is set to compete in professional boxing for the first time in over a decade this year, with the 46-year-old facing veteran Gulf fighter Eisa Al Dah. Hatton, a former welterweight and light-welterweight world champion, will take on Al Dah in Dubai on 2 December, 13 years after announcing his retirement after a loss to Vyacheslav Senchenko in Manchester in 2012. The Stockport-born fighter last fought in an exhibition against Marco Antonio Barrera in 2022, though his fight against Al Dah will be fully sanctioned as a professional bout. Al Dah, also 46, was the first professional boxer in the United Arab Emirates. The bout against Al Dah will be the 49th professional fight of a glittering career for Hatton, who boasts a 45-3 record having racked up 43 straight wins in a decade between 1997 and 2007, before suffering his first loss – to Floyd Mayweather Jr. He subsequently secured wins over Juan Lazcano and Paulie Malignaggi – the latter victory also becoming known for Hatton's walkout with Liam and Noel Gallagher of the band Oasis – before losing to another legend, Manny Pacquiao, in 2009. Hatton was due to fly to Dubai to take part in a press conference to launch the bout on Sunday evening, though he reportedly suffered an eye injury at the Oasis reunion gig in Cardiff on 4 July and was not cleared to travel. Nevertheless, Hatton joined the conference via video call, and said that he was 'very much looking forward to it myself, to be honest with you'. 'What you're trying to do there for boxing in Dubai is fantastic,' he added. Al Dah said that the bout "will be a true fight, true action'. 'Trust me, this fight will not be like the Jake Paul and Mike Tyson fight. And I will do my best, because everybody in the UAE and the Gulf, they will watch this fight. The place will be sold out and it will be watched around the world.'

Aldi has introduced a one-per-customer limit on 'world's best' £15 item
A limited edition version of Aldi's 'world's best champagne' has been such a hit with shoppers, that the budget retailer has introduced a one-bottle-per-customer limit on it. While you might picture Dom Perignon or Bollinger when you imagine world-class champagne, the World Drinks Awards 2025 revealed Veuve Monsigny Champagne Brut as the winner of the champagne category. At just £14.95, the fizz is a steal — and in honour of Oasis' much-anticipated reunion, Aldi also released a Supernova edition — the same champagne, but packaged in a limited edition design as a keepsake for Britpop fans heading to the band's gigs this summer. Also £14.95, the bottles are only available at Aldi's Bury New Road store, just a stone's throw from where the Oasis story began. And now, Aldi say that 'demand has been so high' that the one-bottle limit has been implemented to ensure 'as many fans as possible can raise a glass'. Shoppers have been sharing their love for Supernova Champagne on social media. Superfan Jack Blake wrote: 'I drove from London for the Champagne after I saw the post. I thought, I must try and get a bottle!' Another wrote: 'I got here for half six. My wife's a big Oasis fan so I came to grab her a bottle – I've just called my mates to come down too.' Fans outside of Manchester will be able to enter a prize draw online to be in with a chance of winning a bottle, which is available while stocks last. The regular version of the champagne isn't going anywhere though, so don't panic. At the World Drinks Awards 2025, Veuve Monsigny Champagne Brut beat out competition from champagnes that were more than three times the price. This included G.H. Martel Honoré de Balzac Edition Limitée Brut Champagne, which retails at £49.68 – making it over 70% more expensive. Aldi's bubbly drink is crafted from a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier and has ripe apple, soft red fruit and delicate floral notes. Balzac Honoré de Balzac Rosé Brut came in second place, while the limited edition Brut came in third. Speaking about the win, Julie Ashfield, chief commercial officer at Aldi UK, said: 'To have our £14.95 Veuve Monsigny Champagne Brut recognised as the best in the world is proof that exceptional quality doesn't have to come with an eye-watering price tag. It's a proud moment not just for Aldi, but for our customers who can enjoy world-class champagne without breaking the bank.' Metro's specialist food writer, Courtney Pochin, put the world's best champagne to the test, and she was very impressed. 'I love a glass of something bubbly to celebrate a special occasion, but I often find champagne is a bit too dry for my taste buds. 'Clearly, I just hadn't found the right champagne. 'The Veuve Monsigny is dry, but refreshingly light at the same time. I found myself pouring more into my flute before it was even empty – it was so delightfully drinkable. 'Each sip is vibrant, crisp and beautifully bubbly. If I'd been handed a glass of this as part of a blind taste test, I'd have bet all my money that it had a much higher price tag than it does, because it tastes expensive. 'This is by far the best champagne I've ever had.' And if bubbles aren't for you, the retailer recently launched the UK's first bubble-less prosecco. More Trending Priced at £5.99 the Still Prosecco proved a hit with Metro's drinks expert, Rob Buckhaven, who said it was 'bone dry and lively with flavours of lime, nectarine and tangerine.' View More » He added: 'Not only is it a brilliant talking point, I'm a huge fan of the flavour, the price and will be stocking up over the summer.' Do you have a story to share? Ricky Hatton misses shock comeback press conference due to Oasis injury
Ricky Hatton is making a shock return to the boxing ring, but missed the press conference to announce it due to an injury suffered at an Oasis gig. The 46-year-old has not fought professionally since 2012 when he was stopped by Vyacheslav Senchenko in what was a comeback fight at the time. That bout came over three years after his previous fight, a 2009 knockout defeat to Manny Pacquiao. Hatton's last win was in November 2008 when he stopped Paulie Malignaggi in Las Vegas. He will look to add another victory to his record in December, when he steps through the ropes again, taking on Eisa Al Dah in Dubai. Al Dah is the UAE's first professional fighter, also 46 years old, and holds a record of 8-3, with his last victory coming in 2012. Hatton posted confirmation of the December 2 fight on Sunday, but he did not fly to Dubai for the scheduled press conference due to a bizarre injury. The Sun report that Hatton was left with an eye injury caused by his sunglasses while attending the Oasis comeback gig in Cardiff on Friday night. The former world champion was advised not to fly due to the unexpected issue, so had to pull out of the press conference to announce his own return. Explaining the issue, he said: 'I wish I was there but I had a little bad injury on my eye. The main thing is the fight will take place and I can't wait, I'm really looking forward to it. 'It's just one of them freakish things, I caught one of my sunglasses in my eyes and I'm very fortunate it's not done any permanent damage. It's just scraped the surface, so fingers crossed we're good to go.' There was a video call to promote the fight, though, with Al Dah insisting that it will be an action-packed contest. 'Trust me, this fight will not be like the Jake Paul and Mike Tyson fight,' said the man known as the Arabian Warrior. 'It will be a true fight, true action. More Trending 'And I will do my best, because everybody in the UAE and the Gulf, they will watch this fight. 'The place will be sold out and it will be watched around the world.' Hatton's professional record stands at 45-3, with his only defeats coming against Senchenko, Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather. He won world titles at light-welterweight and welterweight, at one stage boasting a perfect 43-0 record.
