Agniveer recruitment rally: Army official inspects CEE centres
Defence PRO, Wing Commander Debartho Dhar, said as part of the Indian Army's ongoing commitment to fair and technology-driven recruitment, the senior officer visited TCS iON Digital Zone, Sallahapur, and iTech Zone, Jhunsi, to assess the conduct and administration of the online CEE being held for the Agniveer Recruitment Rally 2025. The online CEE is being conducted pan-India from June 30 to July 10, under the aegis of the Recruiting Directorate, Indian Army.
Introduced two years ago as a major reform initiative, the digital examination process represents a paradigm shift in the Army's approach to recruitment, aimed at ensuring transparency, fairness and ease of access for candidates from all backgrounds.
Singh undertook a comprehensive review of the operational setup at both examination centres. Key aspects such as biometric authentication, CCTV monitoring, examination room environment, candidate handling and digital invigilation systems were thoroughly examined.

Kolhapur: Over 27 lakh devotees turned up in Pandharpur for Ashadi Ekadashi, a centuries-old pilgrimage, since Sunday, showed an analysis conducted by extrapolating the number of devotees per minute, observed via drone footage, across different time phases. The Solapur district administration deployed six AI-powered cameras mounted on drones to estimate the crowd size in Pandharpur. The drones, equipped with night vision and heat meters, flew in shifts from 4am to midnight, covering several kilometers and staying aloft for 15-30 minutes at a time. Based on the footage, the administration estimated that about 27.40 lakh devotees visited the town. We got hanger-type pandals at two places where the warkaris could comfortably wait for their turn for darshan. The hanger pandals helped us reduce the darshan time significantly. We also used heat-sensor cameras to ensure the crowded areas were controlled to the limits. Prayagraj: Starting from the holy month of Shrawan, devotees visiting Shri Mankameshwar Mahadev and Rinmukteshwar Mahadev in Prayagraj will no longer be allowed to offer milk in polythene packages or plastic bottles. The temple management has issued a strict directive requiring devotees to bring milk in traditional containers such as brass, copper, silver, or earthen pots. This decision was taken not only to uphold religious beliefs but also to safeguard the environment. Shri Mankameshwar Mahadev Temple, located in Kydganj Mohalla on the banks of the Yamuna, holds historical and spiritual significance. The temple is mentioned in ancient scriptures like the Shiva, Padma and Skanda Puranas as 'Kameshwar Teerth,' where Lord Shiva is believed to have resided after burning Kamadeva, the God of Love. The temple also houses the Shivling of Rinmukteshwar Mahadev, said to be established by Lord Suryadev in Treta Yug. The temple management earlier banned devotees from performing Rudrabhishek while wearing torn jeans, T-shirts, or pants, insisting that men wear dhotis and women wear ghotis or sarees. Mahant Shridharanand Brahmachari of Shri Mankameshwar Mahadev Temple explained the spiritual and scriptural basis for these bans. "According to the scriptures, water offerings should be made using gold, silver, brass, or copper vessels, commonly known as lotas, while milk offerings are ideally made in silver vessels or earthen pots if silver is unavailable. Steel, aluminium, iron, or polythene containers are considered inauspicious or impure," said the priest. He emphasised that bringing packaged milk is a convenience-driven practice, but it leads to sin when devotees discard polythene in the temple, thus disrespecting the sanctity of the place. In a similar eco-friendly stance, the management of the famous Padila Mahadev temple has banned offering of flowers wrapped in polythene. According to the temple authorities, devotees often leave these flower packets near the deity or scatter it around the temple grounds, contributing to garbage buildup and clogging of drainage systems.

High admissions, five sets of twins bring double delight to Sullia school
Mangaluru: The Government High School, Yenmoor, in Murulya village, Sullia, is now home to five pairs of twins, four in class eight and one in Class 10, creating an unusual and delightful sight of identical faces and shared milestones in the school. The school currently has two pairs of twin girls and three pairs of twin boys. In class eight, the twins include Chayan and Chayank, Hiba Fathima and Shifa Fathima, Yashwin and Yashwith, and Fathimath Asna and Aminath Husna. In class 10, Bhavan and Bhavin complete the lineup of lookalike batchmates. Headmaster Titus Varghese, who is also an award winning teacher, told TOI that the school recorded its highest-ever admissions this year, with 90 students joining class eight. Among them are four sets of twins. "To ensure individual attention and minimise confusion, we have placed each twin in separate sections. Twins often wear similar clothes and carry identical belongings, which can confuse teachers or lead to playful pranks. Separating them allows us to focus better on each student," he explained. Amid this, the school is in need of more development, including better playground and a toilet block.
