Channel Seven is continuing to plunder the Channel Nine talent pool, poaching a popular senior reporter.
Long-serving Nine reporter and former US correspondent Laura Turner will move to Seven's Melbourne newsroom as one of six new appointments, according to the Herald Sun.
In an internal email seen by the publication, Seven's Melbourne news director Chris Salter revealed that fellow Nine reporter Phoebe Worthley would also be making the move to Melbourne.
Jordan Quinn from 7News Brisbane, and Sheri Smith from 7News Toowoomba will also make the move to Melbourne.
'Laura is a natural leader in our industry — she's got a strong news sense and a passion for breaking and telling compelling stories,' Salter said.

'Her experience will be an enormous asset for us.'
Turner began her career in Nine's Melbourne newsroom back in 2010, before taking on a two-year stint as US correspondent in 2015.
She recently took to Instagram to mark her 15 years with Nine by sharing a montage of some of her memorable moments with the network.
'I recently marked 15 years with Channel 9 and 20 years as a tv reporter,' she wrote.
'It's been a wild ride of natural disasters, US Presidential campaigns, missing aeroplanes, Quill awards, crime scenes, NFL games, Oscars red carpets, mass shootings, typhoons, pregnancies, personal highs and crushing lows.'
Back in December, it was revealed that rising Nine star Xander McGuire, the son of veteran broadcaster Eddie McGuire, had also been poached by Seven to take on an expanded role in its sport and news divisions.
McGuire established himself as one of Nine's most promising talents after joining the network in 2022, with sports presenter Tony Jones describing him as 'the best young reporter I've seen in almost 40 years'.
It comes after Daily Mail Australia exclusively revealed last week that Seven had poached the executive producer from Nine's nightly bulletin, Tanya Weingarth.
Back in December, it was revealed that rising Nine star Xander McGuire, the son of veteran broadcaster Eddie McGuire, had also been poached by Seven to take on an expanded role in its sport and news divisions
In an internal email, the network announced the one-time A Current Affair senior producer would be appointed executive producer of the broadcaster's 6pm Sydney news bulletin.
Seven's acting news director Geoff Dunn welcomed the appointment in the internal email.
'Tanya started her career with Seven Queensland, so she really is coming home,' the message read.
'We will confirm her start date in due course,' he said.
'We're thrilled she is making the switch to Sydney's most dedicated news team.'
Weingarth's career has spanned two decades in Australia after she started as a reporter at Seven News Queensland in 2003.
A Nine spokesman told Daily Mail Australia the network wished Weingarth 'all the best for her next career move'.
'Tanya continues to fulfil her current role as EP, including tonight at 6pm,' he said.
It was also recently revealed that Seven News bosses were secretly planning to sack some of their most popular and best-paid stars.
Former top news boss Anthony De Ceglie had a plan to axe every Channel Seven personality earning more than $300,000 per year in favour of upcoming TV stars, according to The Australian's Media Diary column.
It was planned that Spotlight chief correspondent Liam Bartlett, Seven News chief reporter Chris Reason and Seven News Sydney anchor Michael Usher were going to be quietly dismissed as part of a 'drastic cost-cutting operation'.
Sunrise and Morning Show presenters Natalie Barr, Matt Shirvington, Kylie Gillies and Larry Emdur were the only high-paid stars not at risk of losing their jobs.

BREAKING NEWS Channel Nine confirms veteran will make a sensational return to TV after quitting radio gig

Channel Nine has confirmed Deborah Knight will be stepping away from her role on 2GB's Money News and returning to a full-time television role at the network. The seasoned journalist is set to take on the role of presenter for the national 9News Morning bulletin at 11:30am each weekday from July 21. The 52-year-old will also present 9News Afternoon each weekday in Sydney and will continue to host A Current Affair on Saturday night. 'I'm incredibly excited to be stepping back into a full-time television role with 9News and Current Affairs,' Deb said. 'It's a fantastic opportunity to be part of the daily news cycle and connect with viewers during these important bulletins. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'I've thoroughly enjoyed my time in radio, particularly hosting Money News, and I'm grateful for the wonderful listeners who tuned in. I'm also very pleased to continue hosting A Current Affair on Saturday nights.' Deb's final show on 2GB will be on Thursday, with a new host set to be announced in the coming weeks. National Content Manager of Nine Radio Greg Byrnes acknowledged her contribution to radio. 'Deb has been an integral part of the 2GB on-air team since 2020, but her ties to talk radio stretch back much further,' he said. 'Nationally, the Money News program with Deb as host, has recorded some of its best ratings on record and she finishes up as No. 1 overall in Sydney. We'll miss Deb on and off the air but as she's remaining in the Nine family she'll never be too far away.' Deb's exit from 2GB will leave the Sydney station without any female presenters during the weekday daytime lineup. She first joined 2GB's afternoon program in 2020, reportedly on a $600,000 salary, before being moved off the role in late 2023 due to disappointing ratings. At the time, the broadcaster was said to be 'shattered' by the decision. Despite the shake-up, Knight quickly bounced back, taking over Money News in November 2023 in a revamped 7pm-8pm slot. And it didn't take long for her to prove the doubters wrong. Knight helped drive Money News to a 13.3 per cent share in the latest ratings survey -ranking her number one in the country for the timeslot, and more than doubling the show's audience in Queensland, where it's also broadcast on Brisbane's 4BC. The program also recorded a 0.6 point increase in the latest survey, contributing to 2GB's strongest ratings result of the year.

John Farnham's son Rob pays moving tribute to his father on his 76th birthday following cancer scare

John Farnham 's son Robert has shared a sweet tribute to the Aussie music icon to mark his 76th birthday on Tuesday. The actor, 45, posted a photo to Instagram of his iconic father alongside a sweet message. 'Massive happy birthday to my dad. You're my idol and my hero. Love you heaps,' he wrote. John recently underwent jaw reconstruction surgery, which lasted 12 hours and required 26 doctors, after he was diagnosed with oral cancer in 2022. After a long recovery out of the spotlight, the hitmaker is back to enjoying life with his loved ones. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. John's son James revealed in February that his famous father was recovering well after having a cancerous growth removed from his mouth in 2022. 'He's doing great,' James said on Sunrise at the time. 'He's walking around, kicking goals, and annoying mum as normal.' 'As long as he's annoying someone, you know he's on the mend,' host Natalie Barr said. John spent long months in recovery during a harrowing cancer battle. He discovered he had the cancerous growth in his mouth after his wife Jill insisted he get a persistent mouth ulcer checked out. Having found a malignant tumour, the resulting operation saw parts of his mouth and jaw removed, and lasted nearly 12 hours. John then underwent eight gruelling weeks of radiation and, 12 months later, was declared cancer-free. In his memoir The Voice Inside, John detailed his cancer ordeal and how it robbed him of his life's passion. 'My facial disfigurement from the surgery means I can't open my mouth wide enough for a strip of spaghetti, let alone to sing,' he wrote. 'I can't get the movement to make the sounds I want to make, that's where the vibrations and my voice come from. It's a very disconcerting thing. And trying hurts.' While he has temporarily been robbed of what was regarded as one of the great voices of popular music, he still has hopes that one day he will perform again. 'I was given a gift and to be able to get out there and affect people in some way was special, I would like to continue doing that,' he shared. John also said he believes the tumour came about as a result of his long-term smoking habit, which he eventually managed to kick. 'Cancer doesn't discriminate, but as soon as I was told the results, I couldn't help thinking it was my own fault, I smoked very heavily all my life,' he said. He said he started smoking at the age of 14 and would do so in secret after his disapproving parents once caught him.

Footy star Lachlan Galvin rubs salt into fans' wounds with two cheeky emojis as he celebrates another huge loss for his old club

Lachlan Galvin has rubbed salt into the wounds of long-suffering Tigers fans by applauding his mate Tallyn Da Silva's defection from his former club. Hours before the mid-season deadline closed, Da Silva formally had a three-and-a-half year deal with the Eels registered. The move will allow him to begin training with the Eels immediately and line up for them in a fortnight against Penrith. Da Silva was considered a leading part of the next generation of talent the Tigers were building themselves around, alongside Lachlan Galvin. But he has now followed his close childhood friend out the door, after being stuck behind Apisai Koroisau at dummy-half. Galvin took to social media on Monday night to applaud Da Silva on his move to the Eels by reposting the announcement and adding a 'perfect' emoji alongside a cheeky wink. The cheeky post from Galvin (pictured) is sure to infuriate long-suffering Tigers fans Jarome Luai says he can understand why Da Silva left Wests Tigers. 'It's a bit disappointing for the club and us as a playing group,' co-captain Luai said. 'We see the potential he has and the biggest thing for him was more opportunity. 'It's understandable for a guy that is behind Api. It's a tricky one. Everyone is entitled to that opinion, what they want and what they are chasing. 'All the best to him. I think he will get more opportunity at Parramatta anyway. He's going to be a very good player for a very long time.' Da Silva's move to Parramatta gives the Eels a genuine talent at No.9, after they have struggled to find a top-tier replacement for Reed Mahoney since his exit after 2022. Koroisau is off contract at the end of next year, but the Tigers have decided to prioritise keeping the 32-year-old over Da Silva. 'I still think Api has a lot more years left in his legs,' Luai said.
