Bluey episode unexpectedly pulled from screens for 'tough' reason
An episode of Bluey has been unexpectedly pulled from screens for a "tough" reason.
The series, which has been a worldwide success, first ventured onto Australian screens in 2020. It follows a family of dogs and its main titular, Bluey Heeler, a young pup navigating life with her family—Dad Bandit, Mum Chilli, and younger sister Bingo.
After its success Down Under, the now children's favourite ventured over to the UK, where it is available to download on BBC iPlayer and Disney.
The friction over the episode in question follows a recent promotion between BBC Studios and Australian hardware store Bunnings, meaning that the decision was reached to remove one episode from the network as a result.
In the season 2 episode, Bluey's father, Bandit, hopes to build his own pizza oven and heads to a local hardware store to purchase supplies.
Bandit is shown in Hammerbarn fetching supplies. The issue was fuelled after Bunnings rolled out its own products connected with the show, including garden gnomes, rugs, hats, socks, and tote bags.
The store also hosts their very own Bluey-themed scavenger hunts and events associated with the programme.
Due to the advertising crossover, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation—a government-funded organisation—has had to disassociate itself from the episode. They operate under a strict rule of no advertising and taking part in commercial partnerships.
"This campaign is a BBC Studios and Bunnings partnership," stated an ABC representative to Channel Nine. They further added: "As the ABC cannot align with a commercial brand or partnership, the Bluey episode Hammerbarn will temporarily be unavailable on ABC iView while the Bunnings Hammerbarn campaign is live."
However, it's not all bad news for fans, as ABC confirmed that it would return that very episode to its network iView "at a later date".
A Bunnings spokesperson was also disappointed by the decision, with representative Melissa O'Neill telling Kidspot the company was disappointed by the outcome.
She said, "It's sad to think that they can't enjoy the episode. And particularly given Bluey fans can buy merchandise from a range of retailers and sites both in Australia and overseas."
The missing episode has caused great upset, with Kate McMahon, host of the Bluey podcast Gotta Be Done, stating it was "really tough".
She explained: "Hammerbarn is one of the most iconic Bluey episodes, and so to have it removed from the platform is a shame. A lot of parents rely on an episode of Bluey to get them through the day, so to lose one like this is really tough."
Bluey is streaming on BBC iPlayer and Disney Plus in the UK.

While a fourth posted: "Omg congrats Vick and Calvin!!!! So lovely". Pregnant Vick Hope shows off her baby bump in sparkling mini dress as she parties at husband Calvin Harris's Ibiza club gig And a fifth chimed in: "Congrats to the both of you!" The post also includes snaps showing new mum Vick in a large birthing pool in Ibiza. It appears to show the moment Vick brought little Micah into the world during a water birth on the Spanish island. Vick first revealed she was pregnant live on Radio 1 back in May, and said their little boy would arrive in the next eight weeks. The delighted couple, who tied the knot in 2023, prefer to keep their home life private. However, they have made an exception to share the happy news of the pregnancy and birth. Annoucing the pregnancy, Vick told Jamie Laing: "I should probably also say this is my final week before I go on maternity leave." Jamie told her: "You're an amazing friend, an amazing person, and you're just going to be an amazing mum." She replied: "Oh, thank you." TOT THE CHARTS CALVIN Harris and Vick Hope's baby revelation was previously dubbed "one of the worst-kept secrets in showbiz". Here are all the signs Calvin Harris was secretly preparing to welcome first child with Vick Hope. Cryptic song title - Calvin's latest banger- titled Blessings - was potentially a cryptic nod to his little bundle of joy. What the Cluck? - Calvin and Vick will be raising the tot at their Ibiza farmhouse. And weeks before revealing that he is set to become a dad, the DJ posted a cryptic picture from his White Isle smallholding with a chicken. The bird is often associated with maternal care and fertility as Calvin subtly hinted at fatherhood. Spilling the tea - Calvin always keeps his loyal army of followers informed about his packed summer gigs, pool parties and banging tunes. Commenting on his Ibiza residency, he said: 'A massive summer incoming.' But was he referring to the music or was it a secret nod to Vick's bun in the oven? Daddy Cool - Calvin recently unveiled a striking new look – worlds away from his early DJ days. It came as Calvin kitted himself out with a new dad-style wardrobe in preparation for walks in the park with a pushchair. Doting Hubby - Calvin flanked his beaming wife at a recent red carpet appearance and glanced at her growing bump. An onlooker said: "They were all over each other, it was so cute to watch." Dumfries-born Harris, 41, married presenter Vick in September 2023 in a lavish Glastonbury-themed wedding held at Alnwick in Northumberland. Harris popped the question to Vick, 35, during a romantic moment under a tree at his Ibiza finca after a secret whirlwind romance lasting just a month. We told previously how Harris is preparing to settle into a sprawling country mansion after constructing his dream home from scratch in the picturesque Cotswolds. The couple appear to be embracing the quiet life as they put the finishing touches on their stunning new property. Builders have been working tirelessly to complete the remote, three-storey property, which is situated on the outskirts of a popular Gloucestershire village. The couple is expected to move in this summer, trading the rave scene for the tranquillity of village life.

Outlander star lands role with Death in Paradise's Kris Marshall and fans are thrilled
Beyond Paradise has started filming and a familiar face has joined the star-studded cast Outlander sensation Colin McFarlane has been captured on the set of Beyond Paradise, much to the delight of fans. A snapshot was eagerly shared on a Facebook fan page dedicated to the show. Grinning broadly, the actor was snapped in the company of an admirer. His attire consisted of dark brown trousers and a white vest top, layered with a checked shirt. Notably, a microphone was attached to Colin's vest, hinting at his work in progress. In another image, Colin is seen alongside Kris Marshall, who portrays the lead detective, Humphrey Goodman. This time, Colin seems to be in costume, sporting a green gilet atop his checked shirt and holding what looks like gardening gloves. Kris, for his part, was casually dressed in a white vest top, navy blue trousers, and brown footwear as they ambled around the set. The fan who posted the photo playfully noted: "Kris in his best togs," reports the Express. While the behind-the-scenes glimpses sparked excitement among fans, some were quick to spot an intriguing crossover – Colin had previously graced the screen in Death in Paradise. Colin featured in the sixth episode of the fourth series of Death in Paradise, taking on the role of Anton Burrage. In that particular episode, Kris's character, DI Goodman and his team faced the daunting task of solving a volleyball player's murder. Fans on the page couldn't help but comment on the reunion. One remarked, "Looks like Selwyn's volleyball friend from Death in Paradise with him. "Mr Barrage," another chimed in. A different fan expressed their fondness for the actor accompanying Kris, saying, "Oh, I like the actor with him. He's usually really posh or very bad. "The guy with Kris was with him in DIP, too. In the volleyball episode," pointed out another. In other news, Colin has been bestowed with an honorary degree from Loughborough University. The 63-year-old British thespian, scribe, and producer, famed for his portrayal of Gillian B. Loeb in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Trilogy, was honoured by his alma mater for his "outstanding contributions to the arts and his role in championing men's health issues." Fans can catch episodes of Death in Paradise on BBC iPlayer.
