New Delhi: Union home secretary Govind Mohan on Wednesday outlined five key outcomes of the two-day counterterrorism seminar organised by the National Security Guard (NSG) in the national capital. Citing the recent Pahalgam attack and the retaliatory Operation Sindoor , he emphasised the need to enhance domestic capabilities and global cooperation From drawing lessons from international experiences to discussing evolving threats, response mechanisms and counter strategies, Mohan highlighted the increasing use of social media, drones, and encrypted apps by terrorists and their handlers to evade law enforcement.He stressed the importance of leveraging technology in counterterror operations and conducting tech-enabled counter-IED (improvised explosive device) operations."Terrorism is a global threat-one that endangers not just India but the entire world. It has jeopardised national security across continents and inflicted deep wounds on the fundamental values of humanity. According to the Institute for Economics and Peace's 2024 Report, the number of countries impacted by terrorism has risen from 58 to 66 in 2024. The entire world is grappling with the devastation caused by terrorism," Mohan said.On April 22 this year, 26 Indians lost their lives in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir."Whoever attempts such acts must pay the price. That is precisely why, through Operation Sindoor, we neutralised cross-border terrorism at its source. With precise military strikes on terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, we successfully destroyed key operational bases of terrorist organisations. This stands as a testament to the military skill and professional strength of our armed forces," Mohan said.Speaking at the valedictory session, he added: "Unfortunately, some countries and communities are associating terrorism with their identity or faith-and in doing so, are tarnishing the very idea of humanity. This problem needs to be eradicated from its roots. Whether or not a country is directly impacted by terrorism, it is essential for all nations-including India-to come together on a united platform. We must strengthen global cooperation, share technological solutions, and above all, raise public awareness against this menace."

Describing Nag's work as rich in philosophy and deeply rooted in cultural wisdom, Pradhan stressed the need for broader efforts to preserve and promote his writings at all levels. 'Literature is a tool that activates the consciousness of an individual. It constantly stirs intellectual waves and builds new emotions. While not everyone becomes a writer, literature resides in everyone. Its need is universal,' said Pradhan while addressing the gathering. He further emphasised the importance of imparting education in mother tongues to nurture original thinking and creativity among students. On the occasion, several books, anthologies, and collections based on Haldhar Nag's life and literary works were unveiled. Higher Education and Culture minister Suraj Suryabanshi, local MPs, MLAs, and public representatives were also present at the inaugural session.

Congress will pay price for neglecting SES-2015, claims Union Minister Bhupender Yadav
BENGALURU: Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav on Saturday predicted that the Congress in Karnataka will meet the same fate as its national counterpart as it has ignored the Socio-Economic Educational Survey-2015 (caste census report). Delivering the keynote address at the seminar 'Caste Census: Retrospective-Prospective' organised by the Social Justice Awareness Forum at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Yadav said that Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his government and LoP in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi were anti-backward classes. The Karnataka government had recently shelved the caste census of 2015 and opted for a fresh survey. Yadav said that the Congress lost power at the Centre because it ignored the Kaka Kalelkar Commission report recommending the upliftment of backward classes socially and educationally. He expressed confidence that when the backward classes become aware that the Congress is averse to their upliftment in Karnataka, it will not be able to return to power. 'Why did those who (Rahul Gandhi) keep the Constitution in their pockets not implement the Kaka Kalelkar Commission report? After the country became independent from the Emergency and from family rule, the Janata Party came to power at the Centre. It also formed the Mandal Commission. The Congress was out of power when the issue of justice for OBCs came to the fore. But when it came to power a few years later, it had ignored the Mandal Commission report as it did it with the Kaka Kalelkar report,' Yadav said, adding that the BJP-backed VP Singh government implemented the Mandal Commission report and got reservation for OBCs.

Pakistan Army Chief Backs Terror Under Guise of ‘Legitimate Struggle', Rakes Up Kashmir Again
Last Updated: Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir blamed India for escalating tensions in the region and claimed that Islamabad was a "net regional stabiliser". Pakistan's Army Chief Asim Munir once again threatened India and took a hardline stance on Kashmir, blaming New Delhi – without any evidence – for the recent tensions in the region in the aftermath of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. Notably, India and Pakistan exchanged cross-border hostilities for four days after India launched Operation Sindoor against terror camps in the neighbouring country. India struck several air bases and dealt a crushing blow to Pakistan Army's capabilities, while also effectively repelling missile and drone attacks. Despite this, Munir claimed India had twice undertaken acts of unprovoked aggression, marked by a 'troubling absence of strategic foresight", and vowed a decisive response to any future Indian aggression. Speaking at the Pakistan Naval Academy in Karachi on Saturday, Munir claimed Pakistan gave a 'resolute response" to India, despite reaching out to New Delhi after sustaining heavy losses during Operation Sindoor. Munir appeared to endorse acts of terrorism under the pretext of what he described as a 'legitimate struggle". 'Pakistan, despite grave provocations, acted with restraint and maturity, and demonstrated its commitment to regional peace and stability, which has led to Pakistan's role as a net regional stabiliser," he said. Munir also assured that Pakistan would respond with a swift and befitting response to any future aggression. Munir also raked up the Kashmir issue, saying, 'Pakistan is a strong advocate for a just resolution of the Kashmir issue in accordance with United Nations resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people." He also called for a 'just and peaceful resolution" to the Kashmir issue for lasting peace in the region. Days before the Pahalgam terror attack, Munir had reignited the issue by claiming that Kashmir was Pakistan's 'jugular vein". Over 100 terrorists, including top commanders like JeM leader Abdul Rauf Azhar and family members of Masood Azhar, were killed in India's Operation Sindoor. The conflict lasted till May 10 afternoon when the Pakistan side requested a ceasefire in view of the heavy losses suffered by it in the attacks by the Indian Air Force. First Published:
