4 Steelers could take over Cordarrelle Patterson's kick return duties, per Mike Tomlin

Cordarrelle Patterson was officially released on Tuesday, leaving kick return duties up for grabs — but HC Mike Tomlin already has a few Steelers in mind. Following Tuesday's practice at training camp, Tomlin addressed the opening at kick returner, naming four Steelers on offense who could take over the role. "We're not devoid of candidates," Tomlin told reporters. "Really excited about [Kenneth Gainwell] in that area. Certain, Jaylen Warren's got some experience in that area. We're looking at Kaleb Johnson. We're looking at Roman Wilson. We're not devoid of candidates. I'm pretty comfortable with the pool of candidates, but it's still some work to sort out." The Steelers may have one of the league's best pools of potential returners — as Gainwell, Warren, Johnson, and Wilson are all explosive and dangerous with the ball in their hands. Earlier in the media availability, Tomlin mentioned that Wilson was catching kicks and punts during pre-practice — so it wouldn't be far-fetched to consider him the front-runner for kick return duties. It's certainly a situation to keep an eye on as camp progresses — and we at Steelers Wire will keep you updated on the positional battle in Latrobe. 'Still dirty': Tigers fans issue warning to Lachie Galvin for Bulldogs grudge match

Wests Tigers fans have promised to bring the heat when Lachie Galvin runs out for the first time against the club he ditched mid-season. But they risk being drowned out by the rabid Bulldogs Army. The 20-year-old playmaker will line-up against the Tigers at CommBank Stadium on Sunday afternoon and can expect a serve from the home crowd with every touch of the ball. David Craine is a lifelong Balmain/Wests Tigers fan and administers the 'Wests Tigers Will Never Die' Facebook page, which has more than 44,000 members. He predicts Galvin will cop a hostile reception from both fans and former teammates. "The fans are still dirty over him walking out and will let him know. They will boo him at every opportunity," Craine told Yahoo Sport Australia. "And I believe it won't just be the fans - the players will be filthy as well. "I've heard reports that the team want payback for what he said about Benji…basically saying he can't coach. These players are only there because they believe in Benji. They will want to send him (Galvin) a strong message." But for all the passion and anger Tigers fans will muster, Craine concedes they face a tough time being heard over the raucous Bulldogs Army. Canterbury's fan base is on the march and turning up in big numbers during the club's best season in a decade. "I expect Dogs fans to be bigger and louder than our sobbing fans," Craine predicted. "Their fans are the most passionate and noisy in the game and will try to drown the Tigers fans out. But we won't back down and they won't back down. We'll both be doing what we can to give our side an edge. It's all set up for a really feisty afternoon with plenty at stake for both teams." Canterbury has kept Galvin out of the firing line this week, refusing to offer him up to media outlets for fear of heightening tensions. It's been left to teammates to speculate on how the rookie half will handle playing against the club he rejected two months ago. Halves partner Matt Burton said: "He'll just go to another level and get better from that (scrutiny). That won't faze him at all. "There's going to be a lot of talk, but whatever's in these four walls, we just stick together and we don't worry about that. It's like he's a 26-year-old in a 20-year-old's body. He's got that maturity about him."

Seranthony Domínguez traded from the Baltimore Orioles to the Toronto Blue Jays in between their doubleheader

BALTIMORE — Baltimore swept a doubleheader against Toronto, but for Seranthony Domínguez it was a split. The Orioles traded the reliever to the Blue Jays between games. 'After the first game, I was in there with the guys, and they call me and they tell me, 'Hey we got you traded. Go to the next dugout,'' Domínguez said. Domínguez did not pitch in the opener, which the Orioles won 16-4. Then the trade — Domínguez for minor league right-hander Juaron Watts-Brown — was announced about an hour before the scheduled first pitch of the nightcap. Domínguez threw a scoreless seventh inning for Toronto, but Baltimore ultimately prevailed 3-2. 'He's been around, for one. He's got really, really good stuff,' Blue Jays manager John Schneider said. 'He can miss bats, great fastball, great splitter.' Domínguez is 2-3 with a 3.16 ERA in 44 relief appearances this season. The last-place Orioles have also traded away relievers Bryan Baker and Gregory Soto as part of what has been a mild sell-off so far. The AL East-leading Blue Jays have a bullpen ERA of 3.94, which ranks in the middle of the pack. Domínguez, who was in his sixth season with the Philadelphia Phillies when the right-hander was traded to Baltimore around this time last year, can help. The 23-year-old Watts-Brown was ranked as Toronto's No. 10 prospect by MLB Pipeline. He's 2-5 with a 3.54 ERA in 19 starts at Class A and Double-A this year. The Double-A affiliates for the Blue Jays and Orioles — New Hampshire and Chesapeake — were also playing each other Tuesday night, making this a convenient move for Watts-Brown, too. The Blue Jays designated veteran right-hander Chad Green for assignment. 'Had to have a terrible conversation with Chad Green, who's been so good not only for us but for his entire major league career,' Schneider said. 'First and foremost, wish him the best. He's the definition of a professional.'
