Lewis Capaldi marks return to scene with new single Survive
Released today, the powerful track is the Glasgow-born singer's first since his emotional exit from the stage at Glastonbury 2023, where the crowd famously helped him complete his set.
The experience prompted the singer to take an extended break from the limelight — a move he later described to his 1.5 million followers on X as 'the most difficult decision of his life.'

The track offers a deeply personal glimpse into Lewis's mental and emotional journey over the past year.
It also sees him reunite with close collaborator Romans, who co-wrote his global smash hit Someone You Loved, now certified 10x platinum.
The song remains the UK's most-streamed track of all time and the fourth most-streamed globally.
The 28-year-old's reemergence follows a string of intimate, low-pressure performances across Scotland in May, held in partnership with mental health charity CALM during Mental Health Awareness Week.
These low-pressure performances were designed to help him test his comfort and readiness to return to music full-time, and were hailed by fans as a 'triumph.'

The film soared to the top of Netflix's global charts, becoming the platform's most-watched release at the time.
With eight UK Top 10 singles, five number ones, and over 30 billion streams worldwide, the global popstar has solidified his status as one of Britain's most successful and beloved artists.
Fans have been buzzing with speculation that the beloved singer may be planning a surprise return to Glastonbury this weekend.

The Glasgow Times reported that festival goers believe they've uncovered clues pointing to a secret set at the legendary festival.
A mysterious billboard appeared in St Enoch Square, Glasgow, displaying the cryptic message: 'I refuse to spend my best years rotting in the sun.'
The red text on a white background also included a phone number for fans to sign up for updates, prompting widespread speculation that Capaldi is the unnamed "TBA" artist set to perform on the Pyramid Stage.

The 1975 at Glastonbury 2025 review — hard to take seriously
The first headliner of the weekend was a strange choice. The 1975 certainly made a big splash about ten years ago, combining rock, pop and everything in between as a reflection of the new genre-free era of music, but more recently they have been working on an album yet to be released and singer Matty Healy has become known for being immortalised by his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift in her song The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived. Still, they were determined to make an impact, from the blinding lights of the multi screen setup to Healy arriving on stage with a pint of Guinness (a real glass one — where did he get that from? Did he bring it with him?) and a cigarette before leaping about in imagined rock star fashion. It was all very flash, but with their uptight white funk sound, and Healy coming across like a drunken George Michael, it was frankly hard to take seriously. • Glastonbury 2025 live: the 1975, Lewis Capaldi and Lorde kick off festival 'Love me if that's what you wanna do,' sang Healy on Love Me, strutting from one side of the stage to the other, and you did feel that he really would like you to love him. Sometimes that desire reaped dividends. She's American was a nice bit of 80s pop funk, Paris was a sweet love song featuring the line 'I think my boyfriend's a narcissist', and there was a certain charm to Healy and his mix of arrogance and insecurity. But then he had to ruin it all. Looking like he was about to cry, he announced, 'This moment has made me realise … that I probably am the best songwriter of my generation.' There followed a nonsense novelty pop song after which he announced, 'Only joking. I'm an idiot.' It was also hard to equate Healy's dissolute rocker image, complete with ever-present cigarette and tendency to wobble about like he was really out of it, with the word-perfect delivery, the way he knew exactly where the cameras were at all times, and the precise, clean, rather soppy pop coming out of the band. There were some good songs here, especially the state of the world address Love It If We Made It, although showing horrific current affairs scenes to accompany it was gratuitous. But this Glastonbury headline set was unconvincing, like Healy would love nothing more than to be cast in a film about a troubled rock star and this was his audition. The Glasgow-born star joined fellow presenter Dan Snow in a race up the 25-metre mast of the RSS Discovery in Dundee on Friday, with Snow reaching the top first by a few minutes. Lorraine Kelly said she was 'shaking like a leaf' as she scaled the mast of a historic ship that previously ventured to Antarctica, before abseiling to the ground. The feat aimed to emulate the working conditions the ship's original crew faced when it voyaged to Antarctica 124 years ago, albeit they endured harsh weather conditions and no modern safety precautions. The final season has been hailed as 'harrowing and heartbreaking' by critics - with an ending 'so jaw-dropping it beggars belief'. And now rumours of a US spin-off of the global phenomenon have kicked into high gear as an Australian A-lister makes a shock cameo in the highly-anticipated finale. Cate Blanchett appeared in the final seconds of the last episode, stunning viewers in a mic-drop moment and adding fuel to speculation of an English language spin-off. The Oscar winning actor, 56, was garbed in a black suit as she played the paper-flipping game ddakji with a down-on-his luck man in a Los Angeles back alley. While no confirmation has yet to emerge of a spin-off series set in America, rumours suggest it may be helmed by legendary director David Fincher. Squid Game writer and director Hwang Dong-hyuk recently told the Guardian he has heard no confirmation of the spin-off, but would welcome Fincher's involvement. Squid Game quickly became a global phenomenon after the very first season premiered on Netflix back in 2021. While fans had to wait three years for the second season, the third and final hit screens on Friday, June 27 as they were filmed back-to-back. Squid Game season three has been praised by critics and received some raving reviews for its thrilling tale, which scores a whopping 88% on Rotten Tomatoes. Metro rated the show 4.5 out of five stars and gushed how the ending made their 'jaw drop' and described the season as 'darn near-perfect'. While the Guardian rated a more average three out of five stars but raved the ending was so surprising it is 'entirely beggars belief'. Gizmodo dubbed the season 'harrowing' and 'heartbreaking' noting Squid Game ends 'this vicious final chapter in a memorable, very terminal way'. However, it notes there also seems to be a 'tease for more to come' at the end. Meanwhile, Indie Wire praised director Dong-hyuk's 'unflinching vision that carries Squid Game over the finish line'. However, not everyone was so impressed as the Hollywood Reporter dubbed the ending 'unsatisfying'. Fans have already shared their verdicts online and one penned on Rotten Tomatoes: 'So far so good, just watched the first episode! 'I'm still deeply connected to all the characters and can't wait to see what happens next. Will update my review as I keep watching.' Another added: 'The suspenseful directing, story, music, and emotional acting by the actors were all great, and the ending was also excellent. 'It was so fun that I regret not seeing it again.' 'Had me on edge throughout. Final game was epic, couldn't guess what was gonna happen. Love! Heartbreaking but an apt ending,' someone else said. Though it didn't escape criticism and one viewer penned: 'Rushed season, lackluster writing, horrible ending. 'This season was so anticipated and the tools were there for a really good season, but went completely off the rails. 'The character building, suspense, and drama brought people back. All you're left with at the end of season 3 is people who you don't recognise. Do better Netflix.' Squid Game writer and director Dong-hyuk previously revealed the real reason why the season has been split into two parts. Speaking exclusively to MailOnline at the Squid Game season three premiere, Dong-hyuk, 54, said: 'I originally didn't plan for it to be split into two seasons. 'I was thinking that it'd be a single one, but in the process of writing it, it came out to about 13 episodes, which I thought was too long to put out as a single season. 'And I also thought it was too long when you look at current trends. 'So I thought that we wanted to split it, and if we were to split it, at the end of episode seven, when Seong Gi-hun hits rock bottom after his rebellion failed...
