Jacksonville Jaguars' free agent addition continues to impress Liam Coen

Following the Jacksonville Jaguars' first OTA practice last Monday, wide receiver Dyami Brown was one of the players who caught the attention of head coach Liam Coen.
Now, over a week later and four practices in, Brown continues to impress Coen.

"He's been great, man," Coen said on Tuesday of Brown. "He's made a lot of plays. He's been really productive throughout this whole camp so far. Showing versatility to maybe do some things that he hadn't put on tape in the past or wasn't asked to do from his skill set standpoint. I thought obviously very productive towards the halfway point of last year, into the playoffs, and then you see that confidence continuing to grow throughout this camp and this offseason."
The Jaguars signed Brown to a one-year, $10 million deal during free agency. On paper, his overall production throughout his time in Washington isn't going to leap off the page.
His most productive regular season as a pass-catcher came in 2024 when he totaled 308 receiving yards. However, as GM James Gladstone described after the addition, the Jaguars see an ascending player in Brown, who totaled 229 yards during Washington's playoff run last season, and someone who can take another step with the opportunities he can earn in Jacksonville.
Brown adds another vertical presence to the Jaguars' offense, which will help free up Brian Thomas Jr. to impact other levels of the field more often. With Brown's speed, he can also get the ball on shorter area throws in space and create chunk plays with his YAC ability.

"He's been doing a nice job of being able to run vertically but also being the nuanced route runner with some of the daggers and in-cuts and things like that," Coen added. "He's been very locked in this entire time. I've been very impressed with the pro that he is."
Of course, the caveat here is that it is still early and the pads aren't on, but Brown is off to a quick start, and that is noteworthy.

Jaguars should put Travis Hunter to the test as he chases 2-way dreams, Super Bowl champ says

Travis Hunter will come into the 2025 season with heightened expectations around his first year because of his pursuit to play both sides of the ball for the Jacksonville Jaguars. As Hunter and the Jaguars get set for training camp, Super Bowl champion Willie Colon said on Friday that his teammates should put him through the wringer to prepare him for what's to come during the season. "I know how I would approach a guy like this. I'm going to test his armor," Colon said on FOX Sports' "Breakfast Ball." "I'm going to see how tough you really are. If you want to be a two-way player in the NFL, I'm going to see if you're strong enough to be a two-way player. So, when I'm pulling around that corner, I'm going to test that 12 on your chest. "And so, for me, if I'm the Jacksonville Jaguars, listen to what the players are saying. They're curious if he can finish an 18-week season going both ways. I promise you he won't. They'll move him to one side of the ball, and that's cornerback, and allow him to be the best cornerback he can be. Because not only will you have to make tackles, you're going to have to withstand getting hit, too." Colon won a Super Bowl with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2008. He played six seasons with the Steelers and three for the New York Jets. The Jaguars traded up to get Hunter in the draft — the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner who starred at Colorado as a wide receiver and cornerback. He was a two-time All-American at Colorado. He had 86 catches for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also had 36 tackles with four interceptions. New team floated as potential suitor for Boston Celtics' Jaylen Brown

Jaylen Brown and Derrick White have found themselves being floated in trade rumors to begin the NBA offseason. The Boston Celtics duo are two of the best players on the roster. However, with Brad Stevens already trading away Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis, it would appear everyone outside of Jayson Tatum is available for the right price. During a recent episode of "The Zach Lowe Show," the long-time NBA analyst floated the Sacramento Kings as a potential suitor for Brown. Lowe did, however, note how he doesn't expect the All-Star forward to be traded this summer. 'I get the sense there was real smoke, there was something going on,' Lowe said. 'That something maybe has subsided. I said last week that I would bet on (White and Brown) being on the Celtics next year but I'm not slamming the door shut on some team — the Kings come to mind — being like, we'll offer you everything, all the swaps, all the picks, whatever you want for Jaylen Brown and at least making the Celtics think about it. I don't think that's going to happen. I think they will both be on the team next year but they instantly could become the main characters of free agency.' The Kings have plenty of assets to piece together an enticing trade offer. The problem is, none of the incoming players are at the level of Brown. Therefore, Boston would be taking a step backward in terms of talent. Stevens is clearly in the early stages of retooling the roster, with an eye on contending in the 2026-27 season once Jayson Tatum returns from an Achilles tendon tear. As such, it's unlikely we see Brown or White moving to a new team this summer, unless, of course, a team produces a trade package similar or better than the one that sent Mikal Bridges to the New York Knicks last summer.
