Paderu (ASR District): On the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day, 20-Point Programme Implementation Committee Chairman Lanka Dinakar visited Painampadu and Similiguda village panchayats in Araku Valley to participate in Grama Sabhas and conduct field inspections under the Prime Minister's Janman Housing Scheme.
Dinakar said that true development is achieved when welfare schemes reach the last-mile beneficiaries in remote tribal regions.
During the visit, he interacted with beneficiaries, inspected houses under construction, and handed over fresh sanction letters at Similiguda.
He said the joint efforts of the Central and State governments, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, in implementing innovative schemes aimed at uplifting tribal communities.

AP witnessing rapid growth under ‘double engine sarkar'
Vijayawada: Union minister of culture and tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision and Naidu's strategic planning are propelling Andhra Pradesh toward progress in all sectors. Speaking at a press conference here on Thursday, he highlighted the rapid growth in the state under the 'Double engine government' of the Centre and state. After discussions with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Shekhawat said the Central government is fully supporting irrigation and tourism projects, with works being executed in a planned and prioritised manner. Speaking of tourism in Kashmir, the minister stated that the situation in Pahalgam is now stable, encouraging tourists to visit. He added that tourism in Kashmir has seen significant growth and is expected to surge further within two weeks. Commenting on the Emergency imposed on June 25, 1975, by the Congress government, Shekhawat condemned former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi for violating fundamental rights and imposing severe restrictions on the press to suppress dissent. He said that over one lakh people were arbitrarily arrested, and the democratic system was transformed into a dictatorial regime. He accused Sanjay Gandhi of acting as a tyrant, carrying out atrocities. Shekhawat praised the united struggle of millions, led by leaders like Jayaprakash Narayan and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, which restored democracy. He expressed regret that the Congress has neither condemned nor apologised for the Emergency. The nation, he said, continues to honour the sacrifices of those who opposed the dictatorship. BJP state general secretary S Dayakar Reddy, 20-Point Programme chairman Lanka Dinakar, NTR district BJP president Adduri Sri Ram, state official spokesperson Sadineni Yamini Sharma, and Kalyan Chakravarthi attended the press meet.

Addressing IAF's fighter aircraft conundrum
Jun 26, 2025 09:00 AM IST The Indian Air Force (IAF) plays a critical role in securing India amidst a world in flux. For this massive task, India must possess indigenously produced fighter aircraft engines to power its fighter aircraft variants over the next 50 years without falling into undue dependency on foreign suppliers. As the timely delivery of fighter aircraft to the IAF is linked to the security of supply chains, this brief underlines the need for both the development of indigenous capabilities and technological collaboration to proceed simultaneously. Equally important is the creation of indigenous testing and certification facilities, as well as the transfer of technology. FILE PHOTO: Indian Air Force's Rafale fighter jets fly past during the "Aero India 2021" air show at Yelahanka air base in Bengaluru, India, February 3, 2021. REUTERS/Samuel Rajkumar/File Photo(REUTERS) India's neighbourhood is fraught with military challenges and the strategic collaboration between China and Pakistan is deepening. Additionally, China is producing large numbers of the fifth-generation J-20 stealth fighter aircraft, as reports are emerging of Pakistan acquiring fifth-generation fighter aircraft from China. These developments have lent increased urgency to meeting the needs of the IAF, especially since several of its existing frontline fighter aircraft will be due for replacement soon. At the Aero India 2025 show in Bengaluru in February this year, Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh lamented the delays in the delivery of the Tejas Mk-1 Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) to the IAF by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). The issues that have had an adverse impact on the IAF's operational needs should be viewed against the backdrop of evolving threats and challenges. This paper can be accessed here.
