'Missing' Coronation Street character returns next week after fans left concerned

Yahoo23-04-2025
This article contains spoilers for Coronation Street.
Coronation Street fans have been left concerned about the whereabouts of Gary Windass recently (played by Mikey North), but fear not, he's back in Weatherfield.
It comes as the Corrie favourite was last spotted on the cobbles back in January, around the time Mason Radcliffe's death storyline aired on the longest-running UK soap.
Yet after weeks of ITV viewers asking where he is, as he's 'not been on screen for months', and fans not recalling any mentions of the star since, it appears a new plot is on the horizon for Gary and wife Maria Connor.
Next week: Carl makes a move on Abi, Maria fears Mick is bad news and Daisy says goodbye to Weatherfield. Read more here: https://t.co/jsY0meBaLI#Corrie pic.twitter.com/mCv1xYP012

Over the past few days, Corrie fans have been asking on X where the character has disappeared to, as someone questioned: '@itvcorrie where's Gary Windass he's not been on screen for mths has he left?'
Another also wondered: 'Has Gary Windass left the show?'
This person posted: 'Where is Gary Windass? Really need his storyline in #Corrie #Coronationstreet.'
One ITV viewer said: 'Gary Windass would knock Mick into next week. Where is Gary btw? He hasn't been on screen for ages? #Corrie.'
A confused X user shared: 'Right where have cast members disappeared to -for example where the hell is Gary Windass and we barely see Mariah either? And while we are at it, what happend to the Trim Up North barbers? Have I missed something?'
This person also asked the Corrie account on social media: 'any chance we see gary windass appear in the near future? cheers.'
However, spoilers for the soap next week have revealed Gary 'shocks' his wife Maria when he announces his plans to buy another local business.
While in Roy's Rolls, he confesses to Maria that sales are slow at the furniture shop and he's thinking of selling up and using the money to buy the builder's yard, Digital Spy reports.
A Coronation Street insider told the publisher: 'While Gary is wrapped up in his dream, Maria is thinking more sensibly.
'She knows they have Liam to think about and can't afford to make silly decisions that could destroy their financial stability.
"Yet, Gary's got itchy feet and misses the builder's yard he used to manage, so he won't let an opportunity to own it for himself slide.'
But soon after, villain Mick Michaelis urges Gary to go ahead with the plans – Maria then comes across the pair having a 'celebratory drink' in the Bistro – but what are they toasting to?

The Corrie insider also told Digital Spy: 'Maria couldn't be clearer in telling Mick he's not welcome.
"After the trouble she's had with his feisty other half, Lou, the couple aren't in her good books, and she thinks it's a mistake for Gary to trust him."
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV1 and ITVX.

HBO Max Hires ITV's Sasha Breslau and Amazon's Alessandro Volpato to Lead Acquisitions in U.K., Italy

Warner Bros. Discovery has appointed Sasha Breslau and Alessandro Volpato to lead content acquisitions for HBO Max in the U.K. & Ireland and Italy, respectively, as the company prepares for the streamer's early 2026 rollout across multiple European markets. Breslau will join as Vice President, Content Acquisitions for the UK and Ireland in October 2025. Reporting to Ragnhild Thorbech, SVP of Programming & Acquisitions, EMEA, she will oversee content sourcing, rights negotiations, and strategic programming partnerships. Her remit includes helping shape HBO Max's regional strategy and curating a diverse lineup of HBO Originals, Max Originals, Warner Bros. She was a key architect of ITVX and ITVX Premium, overseeing the licensing of more than 8,000 hours of content. Among her acquisitions were Love & Death, The Twelve, One Tree Hill and The Originals — all top-performing titles for the platform — as well as the Oprah with Meghan & Harry special, ITV's most-watched non-sport broadcast since 2018. She also brokered multi-year deals with Disney for Family Guy and American Dad. Volpato joins from Prime Video & Amazon Studios, where he was Senior Manager, Content Acquisition. His portfolio included original Italian series such as Pesci Piccoli, Sconfort Zone, and Sono Lillo, alongside international fare like Those About to Die. A former executive at Warner Bros. International TV Distribution in London, he has also held strategic roles at Discovery Italia and co-founded the cultural non-profit CinemaItaliaUK. The appointments come as HBO Max accelerates its international expansion. Following a July 2025 relaunch that brought the platform to 12 new markets, HBO Max is now available in over 90 countries. Its U.K. and Irish debut in early 2026 will coincide with the expiration of WBD's output deal with Comcast-owned pay-TV group Sky, positioning the platform as the exclusive regional home for its flagship programming. I Fought the Law: Release date speculation, cast and plot details – Everything we know so far

By Aman Shukla Published on August 1, 2025, 19:30 IST Last updated August 1, 2025, 14:22 IST The upcoming ITV drama I Fought the Law is shaping up to be a real tear-jerker, diving into the true story of Ann Ming's fight to change a centuries-old law after her daughter's murder. With Sheridan Smith leading the charge, this four-part series has everyone talking. Here's the lowdown on when it might hit screens, who's in the cast, and what the story's all about. I Fought the Law Potential Release Date No official word on the release date yet, but the buzz points to late 2025. Filming kicked off in August 2024 across Teesside, Hartlepool, and Newcastle upon Tyne, wrapping up not long after. Given how ITV dramas usually roll, post-production could take a bit, so expect I Fought the Law to land on ITV1 and ITVX around late autumn or early winter 2025. Some whispers hint at a mid-2025 premiere, but that feels ambitious. As soon as ITV drops a confirmed date, this page will be updated, so check back! I Fought the Law Expected Cast Sheridan Smith stars as Ann Ming, the determined mom at the heart of the story. Known for stealing hearts in Four Lives and The Moorside , Smith's a perfect fit to bring Ann's grit and grief to life. Ann herself called it 'mind-blowing' to have such a star play her, which says a lot about the passion behind this project. The rest of the cast is just as impressive: Daniel York Loh plays Charlie Ming, Ann's rock-solid husband. Enzo Cilenti steps in as DS Mark Braithwaite, a detective tied to the case. Victoria Wyant portrays Julie Hogg, Ann's daughter, whose tragic death sets everything in motion. Rounding out the lineup are Marlowe Chan-Reeves, Olivia Ng, Jake Davies, Kent Riley, Jack James Ryan, Andrew Lancel, and Rufus Jones, all bringing their A-game. With Ann Ming herself consulting on the series, expect performances that feel raw and real. I Fought the Law Potential Plot Based on Ann Ming's 2008 book, For the Love of Julie , I Fought the Law tells a story that's equal parts heartbreaking and inspiring. It all starts in November 1989, when Julie Hogg, a 22-year-old mom working late at a pizza parlor in Billingham, County Durham, goes missing. Her mom, Ann, finds her body 80 days later, hidden behind a bath panel in Julie's home—after police searches missed it. The suspect, William Dunlop, went to trial twice in 1991, but both times, the jury couldn't decide, and he walked free. Years later, while in prison for another crime, Dunlop bragged about killing Julie, knowing the UK's 800-year-old double jeopardy law meant he couldn't be tried again. That's when Ann and her husband Charlie took matters into their own hands, pushing against the legal system, the Crown Prosecution Service, and even government bigwigs to get the law changed. Their 15-year fight paid off in 2006, when Dunlop became the first person retried under the new rules, landing a life sentence with a 17-year minimum. This four-part drama, penned by Jamie Crichton ( Grantchester ), weaves together Ann's personal loss and her relentless drive to make history. Each hour-long episode promises to pull at the heartstrings while showing how one woman's love for her daughter changed the UK's legal landscape.
