Police say a Denver woman was arrested Friday night after driving through 6 backyards and crashing into some trees and shrubs next to a ditch.

According to the Sterling Police Department, Denver resident Savannah Jones allegedly stole a car while drunk, then drove through six backyards starting at 315 Hays Ave. She reportedly crashed through multiple fences, power transformers and a large transformer box between 1300-1500 Platte Street.

The vehicle finally came to a stop in some trees and shrubs lining the irrigation ditch between Walmart and 1415 Platte St.
Authorities said Jones fled the scene but was later arrested. She is facing charges for the stolen vehicle and traffic violations.
The police department said the incident is a stark reminder not to drink and drive and urged the public to plan a sober ride home.

1 seriously injured after drive-by shooting in Napier area, Metro police say
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — An investigation is underway after a person was shot in the eye socket Sunday afternoon in Nashville's Napier area, according to law enforcement. Metro Nashville dispatch said the incident was reported in the 80 block of Fain Street just before 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 29. A member of the Metro Nashville Police Department told News 2 the gunfire came from a black sedan as it drove through the area. The officer said one individual was brought to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries after being shot in the eye socket. Two killed after suspect shot at firefighters in Idaho, authorities say
Two people have been killed after a suspect shot at firefighters responding to a fire in the US state of Idaho, authorities have said. Police were still "taking sniper fire" near the city of Coeur d'Alene on Sunday afternoon, the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office said. Crews were responding to a fire at Canfield Mountain around 1.30pm and gunshots were reported around half an hour later, the force said. Sheriff Bob Norris said officials believe the two killed were firefighters, and he did not know if anyone else was shot. "We don't know how many suspects are up there, and we don't know how many casualties there are," he said. "We are actively taking fire sniper as we speak." Mr Norris said the sniper appeared to be hiding in the rugged terrain and using a high-powered rifle, adding he had instructed his deputies to fire back. "I'm hoping that somebody has a clear shot and is able to neutralise, because they're not at this point in time showing any evidence of wanting to surrender," the sheriff said. Governor Brad Little said "multiple" firefighters were attacked. "This is a heinous direct assault on our brave firefighters," he said on X. "I ask all Idahoans to pray for them and their families as we wait to learn more." The sheriff's office in neighbouring Shoshone County said authorities were "dealing with an active shooter situation where the shooter is still at large". The fire was still raging, Mr Norris said. "It's going to keep burning," he added. "Can't put any resources on it right now." Canfield Mountain is a popular hiking and biking spot on the outskirts of Coeur d'Alene, a city of around 55,000 people in northern Idaho. Gang member convicted in the murder of Lesandro "Junior" Guzman-Feliz found dead in upstate N.Y. prison
A gang member convicted in the killing of Lesandro "Junior" Guzman-Feliz was found dead in prison on Friday. According to the New York State Department of Corrections, Jonaiki Martinez-Estrella, 31, was found unresponsive Friday afternoon inside of his cell at the upstate Coxsackie Correctional Facility. DOC officials said the medical examiner will determine his cause of death. A member of the Trinitarios gang, Martinez-Estrella delivered the machete blow that killed 15-year-old Guzman-Feliz in June of 2018 after he was dragged out of a Bronx bodega by gang members who had mistaken him for someone else. Martinez-Estrella was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced on Oct. 11, 2019 to life in prison without the possibility of parole. However, that conviction was thrown out by an appeals court back in 2023. Martinez-Estrella was resentenced in May on a second-degree murder, conspiracy and gang assault conviction to 25 years to life with the possibility of parole. At least 13 members of the gang have been convicted and sentenced in the case.
