The prime accused, Monojit Mishra, along with Pramit Mukherjee and Zaib Ahmed, even warned the college's security guard to stay silent before heading out for dinner.
'After committing the crime, the three consumed alcohol in the guard's room and then asked security guard Pinaki Banerjee to keep his mouth shut about the incident,' an investigating officer was quoted as saying to news agency PTI.
The trio later went to a dhaba along EM Bypass for dinner before returning to their respective homes the next morning, police said.
Investigators believe the gangrape was not a spontaneous act but a planned assault. According to the officer, Call Detail Records (CDRs) revealed multiple conversations among the accused in the days leading up to the incident.
The investigation further revealed that Monojit tried to seek help the next day. On June 26, he contacted an 'influential' person in Deshapriya Park, someone who had reportedly helped him in the past.
However, that individual refused to assist this time, sensing the gravity of the situation, the officer added.
After being turned down, Monojit reportedly tried reaching out to several of his so-called 'mentors' in different areas of the city. 'Monojit went to various parts of the city including Rashbehari, Deshapriya Park, Gariahat, Fern Road, and Ballygunge Station Road, trying to meet his mentors. Mobile tower data also indicated that he visited someone near Karaya police station,' the officer said.

Police say Monojit's movements after the crime suggest he was trying to get help to run away or hide the case.
Security guard Pinaki Banerjee has also been arrested, and the college has come under scrutiny for lapses in safety and oversight. The case is being probed by a
formed by Kolkata Police.
The incident sparked protests and outrage across the city.

Rameshwaram Cafe claims extortion bid: Case filed after group tries to blackmail Bengaluru airport outlet with insect-in-food video; demanded Rs 25 lakh
NEW DELHI: A case has been registered against a group of individuals accused of attempting to extort Rs 25 lakh from the popular Rameshwaram Cafe by allegedly staging a false incident of food contamination at its Kempegowda International Airport outlet in Bengaluru. According to police, the incident took place on the morning of 24 July. According to news agency PTI, a group of five to seven people reportedly caused a public disturbance by claiming that an insect had been found in the food served at the cafe. Soon after the scene, the team reportedly received a phone call demanding Rs 25 lakh in cash to avoid reputational damage to the brand. The cafe management has submitted call records, message screenshots, and other documents to support their claims and has urged police to take swift legal action. Police say a Zero FIR has been registered under sections 308(2) and 351(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the case will be transferred to the jurisdiction relevant to the complainant's address. A Zero FIR allows a complaint to be filed at any police station regardless of the location of the crime. In a statement, Divya Raghav, founder of The Rameshwaram Café, rejected the accusations. 'We categorically deny the baseless accusation that a worm or insect was found in our food,' she said. 'This is clearly a staged act with malicious intent to extort money and malign our brand.' Ms Raghav said the cafe operates under 'the strictest quality protocols' and that food safety, especially at sensitive locations like airports, is non-negotiable. She added that similar extortion attempts had been made in the past. 'We will not succumb to intimidation or blackmail,' she said, adding that the company is fully cooperating with authorities and plans to pursue legal action against the alleged perpetrators.

Hateful online posts: Dispute between sweet shop owner, customer resolved, says Nuh police
According to police sources, this incident occurred after Prasad refused to accept a payment through UPI from a customer. Ten people were booked after Girraj Prasad, owner of Lala Chandiram Sweets in Anaj Mandi, complained that false propaganda was being run online against his shop on Facebook. Gurugram, Jul 24 (PTI) Nuh Police said that the matter stemming from the hateful online posts against a sweet shop was resolved on Thursday after its owner and a customer resolved the issue amicably. Prasad, in his complaint, alleged that on July 21, some people made false accusations on Facebook against his outlet and his Muslim employees. 'Ten to 12 Muslim employees work at my shop. For the last 30 years, milk has been supplied by suppliers from the Muslim community…It is a well-planned conspiracy and an attempt to spoil the brotherhood and incite communal riots,' Prasad mentioned in the complaint. After the FIR, the social activists and local political leaders went to meet DC Vishram Kumar Meena, where Nuh SP Rajesh Kumar was also present. 'The matter was not related to a particular community but only between a shop owner and a customer, and the matter is resolved now', said Meena. Girraj and his customer both expressed regret over the matter, with the former also agreeing to put a board outside the shop about the payment mode. Nishad Party to mark Phoolan Devi's death anniversary across UP: Sanjay Nishad
He alleged that the Samajwadi Party had illegally occupied her property and demanded that it be vacated and handed over to her mother. Speaking to reporters in Lucknow, Nishad praised Phoolan Devi for 'standing up against injustice' during a different era. 'The time and circumstances were different when she picked up the gun,' he said. Lucknow, Jul 24 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Fisheries Minister and Nishad Party chief Sanjay Nishad on Thursday said that his party would observe Phoolan Devi's death anniversary on Friday by honouring women activists and holding discussions on her 'contribution to the fight for social justice'. 'Today, Nishad Party is observing Phoolan Devi's 'city day' across every district in the state and in other states where we have a unit. We take inspiration from her journey – from a village by the riverside to becoming a symbol of resistance against injustice,' Nishad said. He added, 'The world came to know her as an iron lady, as the 'Bandit Queen'. Our party has always raised her issues and I have also raised this matter in the House today. Programmes will be held across the state tomorrow as well.' Taking a swipe at those who allegedly continue to disrespect Phoolan Devi, Nishad said, 'Some people make disrespectful comments about her even today. But if one analyses the issue in depth, it becomes clear that for centuries, women have faced injustice. Earlier, the number of people doing injustice was more, and those showing respect were fewer. But under our government, the respect for women has increased.' Phoolan Devi was a bandit-turned-politician from Uttar Pradesh, known as the 'Bandit Queen.' Born in a poor 'mallah' (boatman) family, she was jailed for leading a gang and the 1981 Behmai massacre. After her release, she entered politics and became a Member of Parliament. She was shot dead on July 25, 2001, outside her residence in New Delhi by three masked gunmen, allegedly in revenge for the 1981 Behmai massacre.
