Coronation Street lines up dramatic exit for character
As James packs his bags and prepares to leave for America, will he take baby Laila with him for good this time?
Whilst looking after baby Laila, James is forced to make a huge decision about his future when his phone rings with news about a job back in America.
Confirming that he's still interested in the role, James packs his bags and gets ready to leave.
"James' return to Weatherfield hasn't quite been as smooth as he'd hoped," our Corrie insider says.
"With so much drama and bad blood now between him and his sister, and the rest of the Bailey family stuck in the middle, he's eager to get away and back to his life in the States. The question is, will he take baby Laila with him and rip her away from her family and birth mother?"
Leading up to James' decision to leave, there's conflict among the Baileys after Dee-Dee and James meet with a family facilitator.
"After Dee-Dee had Laila christened behind James' back, he's gunning for legal custody," Digital Spy reports.
"At the meeting for the Special Guardianship Order, James is nervous, despite the fact that Dee-Dee has been adamant that she doesn't want to be a mum to Laila.
"It remains to be seen whether James' conflicted sister will actually turn up to their meeting or not – but Ed has to plead with his kids to clear the air at breakfast the following morning."
It's not all doom and gloom for Dee-Dee, though, as later in the week she takes on a new client at work, only to discover that it is in fact, Ollie.

In scenes set it air on Wednesday, August 6, as the big day dawns Dev and Bernie's dream wedding goes from bad to worse when the quads fall ill and have to watch with Joseph on live stream. As she gets ready to walk down the aisle in her unconventional wedding dress, Bernie forgets her lucky charm locket containing the photo of Paul, and when she runs home to get it she disturbs a burglar. Speaking about the chaotic build-up to the big day, actress Jane Hazlegrove, who plays Bernie, said: 'The day goes from bad to worse! 'That's what is so brilliant about Coronation Street, you don't know what you're going to get until you open the page of the script and that's what is so fantastic about how it plays out – we've got this woman raving down the aisle and the next minute she's collapsed and an ambulance is on its way!' Jane also revealed that she had a hand in the design of Bernie's unconventional wedding dress. She said: 'I knew that Bernie wouldn't go down the road of wearing a traditional dress. I had seen some old footage of Elkie Brookes on TV and she was wearing a kaftan. 'I am a big fan of Elkie so that was the initial inspiration, but this is for Bernie so it needed to be a bit extra. 'Our fantastic talented costume department came up with the 1970s style white dress that is a bit Elkie Brookes, a bit Demis Roussos and very Bernie Winter.' It comes after it was reported on Sunday that Corrie and its rival Emmerdale could be hit by a massive cast cull, with proposals to 'cut one in ten cast members' as part of sweeping cost-cutting measures. The broadcaster has announced plans to slash £15million from its budget, after revealing profits have plunged by 44 per cent to £99million for the first half of the year. Now, both soaps are reportedly being targeted in a bid to bring spiralling production costs under control. It has been reported that around 10 per cent of the current cast lists - which include 84 regulars on Corrie and 70 on Emmerdale - are expected to be dropped. Scripts and episode structures are also under review, with producers being told to reduce the number of scenes per episode and tighten shooting schedules. A source told The Sun: 'It's brutal. We've known it was on the cards for a while, but they're really cranking it up now and it's across the soaps. 'They're looking to save millions and Corrie and Emmerdale are the obvious places. They're very expensive shows.' Most actors are contracted per episode and guaranteed a set number annually - a system which is thought to have become unsustainable. Some long-serving cast members are reportedly concerned about their job security, particularly those who rely on a steady income from the soaps. The source added: 'Many who have been there for a long time are reliant on their income staying as it is. 'The amount of cast has spiralled out of control and focusing on dialogue, not action, could also save money.' The proposed cuts come as ITV undergoes a wider restructuring across its daytime programming, with major job losses already hitting shows including Good Morning Britain, Lorraine, This Morning and Loose Women.

Jack P. Shepherd and Hanni Treweek were surrounded by friends, family and colleagues as they tied the knot at Manchester Cathedral this weekend. The newlyweds - who met while Hanni worked as a storyline writer and researcher on Coronation Street - shared a passionate kiss as white confetti fell on them after the romantic ceremony. Several of Jack's soap co-stars were among the guests - and actor Andy Whyment even took to the stage to sing a few songs as the celebrations went on into the night. In a series of clips shared on guests' Instagram Stories, Andy could be seen accompanied by a band as he sang Half The World Away by Oasis. Meanwhile Lucy Fallon posted an adorable clip of the sweet gesture Jack did for his new wife after their ceremony. Heading outside to be covered in white confetti, Jack ran out in front of Hanni to pick up the train on her dress and lay it out for photos. Elsewhere pictures showed the utterly stunning interior of the cathedral for the ceremony, as well as a small orchestra playing music for arrivals. After the cathedral ceremony, guests got into a vintage red double-decker bus to travel to the venue for the evening celebrations - where everyone partied until 1am. Channel 4's 'nerve-shedding' thriller is to take viewers on a rollercoaster
Buckle up, because Channel 4 is about to drop a 'heart-pounding' new thriller with a national treasure of a lead star. From the makers of Slow Horses, In Flight will hit screens in a matter of weeks, with none other than Katherine Kelly taking the lead. The former Coronation Street actress is a failsafe when it comes to TV dramas these days, having played huge roles in The Long Shadow, Happy Valley, and the highly decorated Mr Bates vs the Post Office, to name just a few. But now, her work sees her take to the skies for a crime drama that will, quite literally, have you gasping for breath. In the series directed by Chris Baugh, Kelly plays a flight attendant named Jo Conran whose son has been arrested and locked up in Bulgaria. The teenager is sentenced to 15 years behind bars, catapulting Jo into a terrifying criminal underworld as she entangles herself with a gang that has inside knowledge of his case. As her mundane life very quickly starts to spiral, the single mother is blackmailed into drug smuggling, while her son maintains his innocence after being accused of murder. With fast-paced storytelling and a high-pressure backdrop, the six-parter is guaranteed to get your mind racing and chest tightening, as Jo goes to extremes to protect her boy, making impossible choices along the way. Speaking ahead of the show's summer release, as shooting took place last November, Innocent actress Kelly, 45, said: 'I am really excited to be taking on the role of Jo, and I can't wait to tell her compelling story. 'I am delighted to be working with Buccaneer Media again, and it's a joy to be filming in Belfast.' And when the former soap star announced her latest role on social media and shared a preview pic of herself in character aboard the aircraft, fans were quick to express their own excitement. In a teasy statement, the pair called In Flight '[their] spin on the noir genre, a high-stakes, stylish, romantic thriller with iconic characters and nerve-shredding action.' They added: 'Jo is a character close to our hearts. She is an ordinary woman facing extraordinary odds. We can't wait for audiences to meet her.'
