Man arrested after crashing stolen car into police vehicle in Langford, B.C.

A man has been arrested in connection to an incident in Langford, B.C., that involved an unsuccessful traffic stop, a brief escape and a collision with a police car.
According to a release by West Shore RCMP, a patrolling officer had come across a car with inactive insurance and a licence plate reported to be stolen just after midnight, June 22.
The officer attempted a traffic stop on the grey, 2002 Chevy Malibu, found in the area near Jacklin and Rex roads, but the driver didn't stop, police said.
Police installed a blockade near the 2600 block of Sooke Road, where the suspect's adventure was forced to a halt as he crashed into a police car.
'Fortunately, no one sustained any injuries as a result of this incident, particularly as the incident unfolded during the late-night hours,' said Cpl. Nancy Saggar.
Michael Bruce, 36, was arrested and charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited, resisting arrest and possession of stolen property under $5,000.
Bruce is due for a court appearance in July.

'Unfortunately, there is limited information available about the suspects at this time. It appears that the victim was specifically targeted in this incident,' police said in a news release. They are asking anyone with information, including dashcam footage of the area between 11 p.m. Friday and 1 a.m. Saturday, to call 905-825-4776 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

Over $200K in drugs, cash seized by Sarnia police

An investigation into suspected drug trafficking in Sarnia has ended in charges for one man. According to police, the Sarnia Police Major Case Action Team (MCAT) arrested a 23-year-old man from Scarborough on Thursday during a traffic stop. Police say a search of the man's vehicle yielded the following: 10.5 oz of cocaine 13 oz methamphetamine 8oz of fentanyl - half of that 8oz was uncut fentanyl The estimated street value of the seized drugs is approximately $222,069. Police also seized $7,900 in cash. Police also searched an Airbnb the man was staying in and seized $12,140 in currency, food coloring, Ziploc bags (packaging), 7.34grams of MDMA and functioning digital scale. The accused was charged with four counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

One killed in morning blaze in Saskatoon

A morning blaze in a Saskatoon home claimed the life of one person. Around 9:13 a.m. on Saturday, firefighters responded to a report of possible fire in the 600 block of Avenue N South, Saskatoon Fire Department (SFD) said in a news release. Multiple units including three fire engines, one rescue unit, one ladder truck and the Battalion Chief were dispatched to the scene where they reported smoke from the roof and visible inside the home. According to SFD, the fire was brought under control around 9:43 a.m.  The fire department says a lone occupant was found inside the home and was pronounced dead after being removed by firefighters. The cause and origin of the fire are currently under investigation by the SFD's fire investigator in collaboration with the Saskatoon Police Service.
