Emmerdale star rules out major fan theory about what's wrong with Bear
Viewers of the ITV soap have seen the character display a number of worrying behaviour patterns of late.
He's lashed out at son Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt), and has suffered a number of angry outbursts. His general demeanour just seems a little… off.
The rift between father and son has been devastating, so much so that Bear has decided to leave Tenant's Cottage and indeed the village.
Planning to visit Ireland, his trip falls through – but still decides to go. But where to?
'I think the dynamic in Tenants Cottage has changed because Mandy has moved in,' Joshua told us.
'Bear's probably thinking, 'Hang on a minute, this is my son trying to get a life together with his new bride and I'm in the way.'
'That's in his mind. I don't think it's in Paddy's or Mandy's minds but it's something he introduces as a sort of ghost at the feast.'
Upon his return, he'll be launched into a huge new storyline, with fans already speculating what that might be. Some have questioned whether he could be suffering from a medical condition.
'I think he's too humiliated to go back. It's more than just humiliation, it's the confusion of''Who am I? What's my purpose in life and what do I do?',' he explained.
'To have a revelation at that age – because he's 78 – is a big thing.
'Luckily there's no dementia, but he's like somebody with dementia stumbling off into the countryside, not knowing who they are or where they're going or what their purpose in life is.'

Whatever it is, Joshua is excited to work on the plot.
'I do love to work,' he tells us.
'I'm not mad on inactivity for long periods of time, as any actor is if one could be there doing something and having the great fun of taking on a major storyline.

Ant and Dec teen drama Byker Grove to return to screens in ITV streaming deal
The teen drama, which ran between 1989 and 2006 on BBC One, is currently available to watch for free on STV Player and will be made available on ITVX later this year. Craig Morris, managing editor of ITV Channels and ITVX, said: 'We are so excited to bring this iconic coming-of-age series to ITVX, marking the first TV appearances of two ITV stalwarts. 'Relive all the great moments with us later this year.' The show also launched the careers of actors Jill Halfpenny and Donna Air, and followed the lives and relationships of young people at a youth club called the Grove in the Byker area of Newcastle. Byker Grove was known for tackling social issues, such as drug addiction, child abuse, homophobia and abortion, and in 1994, the series featured what is thought to be the first gay kiss on UK children's TV, when character Noddy Fishwick kissed Gary Hendrix at the back of a cinema. McPartlin and Donnelly played PJ and Duncan respectively in the series, and went on to enjoy chart success under their characters' names with eight UK top 20 singles, including the number one Let's Get Ready To Rhumble. The show was also the starting point for former writer Catherine Johnson, who went on to pen hit musical Mamma Mia!, and Tom Hooper, who directed episodes of the show in 1997 and went on to win an Oscar for best director for his work on The King's Speech. The show being made available for streaming comes as part of a deal with McPartlin and Donnelly's production company Mitre Studios, which owns the rights to the series. As well as hosting ITV talent show Britain's Got Talent, the pair have also presented I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and Ant And Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway since leaving Byker Grove.

Son of multi-millionaire ‘Car boot King' SUES step-mum for dad's £43M fortune after he was cut out of will
The dispute could affect the millionaire's 19 children GIVEN THE BOOT Son of multi-millionaire 'Car boot King' SUES step-mum for dad's £43M fortune after he was cut out of will Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) THE son of a multi-millionaire "car boot king" is embroiled in an inheritance dispute as he goes after his father's £43 million fortune. Richard Scott died in 2018 at the age of 81, leaving his fortune to his second wife and former cleaner, Jennifer Scott. Adam Scott, 62, the eldest of Richard's 19 sons is now suing his step-mother after he claims he was promised the farm. He says he spent 40 years working on the farm, starting at the age of nine, with the inheritance promised as a reward. After marrying Jennifer, who is 28 years his junior, in 2016, Richard proceeded to write Adam out of the will. Read more News CROC TEARS Moment 'selfish' Constance sobs over baby she's guilty of killing while on run Instead he left his new wife in charge of his "huge quantity of land" which is officially valued at £7 million, although Jennifer believes it to be worth around £43 million based on offers. The pair began dating in 1994. In a High Court legal battle, Adam is suing his stepmother over her inheritance of his father's land. He argues that his father was not in his right mind when he amended and signed his final two wills. Adam had previously tried to prevent Richard's wedding to Jennifer, claiming his dementia had incapacitated him. It led to Richard being interviewed by four registrars and a lawyer from the local council, who confirmed he did have the capacity to marry. Richard's other children all "had expectations of inheritance" according to The Telegraph. He fathered six children with his first wife, six illegitimate children during that relationship, and a further seven children with Jennifer. Once Adam paid the probate value of the land, he believed his other siblings would be "provided for either by rental income or a lump sum paid", as per the original inheritance plan. Through the court proceedings, Adam hopes to restore his father's 1995 will which granted him "a 40-year tenancy of his father's farm and an option to purchase the farm at its pprobate value". When Richard amended the will in 2016, Jennifer's two sons, Gordon and William Redgrave-Scott, and Adam's sister Rebecca Horley also became beneficiaries. The dementia that Richard was diagnosed with in 2011 had reportedly left him almost "incapable of speaking" by 2016. Jennifer's lawyers claim that Richard had cut his son out of the will after he tried to have him sectioned by social services in September 2013. A further complaint by Adam in July 2025 that Richard was abusing Jennifer and his children led to an investigation that was later closed. Alex Troup KC, representing Jennifer, said: 'Richard was angry with Adam for reporting him to social services and their relationship deteriorated as a result.' The lawyer also claimed that Adam had already been awarded land and property worth more than £10 million while his father was still alive. The trial is ongoing.

Emmerdale reveals new co-owner of the cafe leaving Nicola stunned
Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) has been left taken aback after meeting her new co-owner of the café in Emmerdale. Ever since Brenda Walker (Lesley Dunlop) departed the village to go on a cruise, Nicola has been left running the café practically on her own. She gained a little bit of help a few days ago courtesy of Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches), who could see Nicola was struggling and wanted to assist. Lewis' shift at the café in this evening's episode featured a lot of residents arriving to try out the new menu. His bright personality and creative new ideas were already impressing Nicola, but she was also bothered about something. Because Brenda was still technically co-owner, Lewis' revamp of the menu and increase in sales meant she was reaping some of the benefits. With Brenda showing no sign of returning to the Dales, Nicola didn't think this was very fair, but couldn't get hold of her friend to sort things out. As his day at the café continued, Lewis was paid a visit by brother Ross Barton (Michael Parr). Lewis opened up to Ross about his business dreams and how he doesn't intend to stay in the village forever. This left Ross feeling deflated, as he admitted to Lewis that he likes having him around. More Trending It was perhaps this conversation that impacted Lewis' next decision. With help from Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw), Lewis later revealed that he had been on the phone to Brenda – who has now sold her shares in the café.
