Priscilla Kelly, known to WWE fans as Gigi Dolin, made her first in-ring appearance since being released by the company. Her return match unfortunately ended early due to an injury scare.
The former NXT Women's Tag Team Champion has since clarified the situation for her concerned fans. She explained that it was a recurring issue and not a new, serious injury.
A String Of Recent WWE Releases
Kelly became a free agent as part of a recent wave of talent releases from WWE. The releases included main roster stars such as Braun Strowman, Dakota Kai, and Shayna Baszler.
Several NXT talents were also let go, including Kelly, her former rival Cora Jade, the Gallus faction, and Dani Palmer. Following her departure, Kelly quickly booked her first match on the independent circuit.
Post-WWE Match Ends In Injury Scare
Kelly's first match since her release took place at Wrestling REVOLVER's "Cage of Horrors" show on June 14. She faced off against her real-life fiancé, current TNA star Zachary Wentz.
The highly anticipated match had to be stopped prematurely. Kelly appeared to suffer a knee injury, bringing the bout to an unexpected and concerning halt.

Priscilla Kelly Clarifies The Situation
Shortly after the match, Kelly took to social media to address the incident. She explained that what happened was not a new injury but a pre-existing anatomical issue.

"My patella came out of place. It does that from time to time," Kelly wrote. "It's an anatomy issue I've had my whole life, and I've managed to always work through it, even sometimes continuing matches after it happens."
She wanted to reassure fans that the condition is manageable.
"It's not an "injury", it just hurts a good bit and I have to "pop" it back in place. Now ya know. Sorry, guys."

It will be interesting to see where Dolin ends up. Her ex-husband Darby Allin works for AEW and they've remained friends since the split. She would be a welcomed addition to the roster, and the women's division should she opt to sign with the promotion. There have been no recent reports about whether AEW is interested in bringing her in or not.

Kittle To Let Wife And WWE Guide His Retirement Plan from 49ers

Kittle To Let Wife And WWE Guide His Retirement Plan from 49ers originally appeared on Athlon Sports. George Kittle is arguably the top all-around tight ends in the NFL, with some San Francisco 49ers numbers that prove it. Advertisement In 2024, he finished with 78 catches for 1,106 yards and eight touchdowns despite a major down year for the team. ... and at age 31, the Kittle arrow remains pointing up. But when that's done? He has a retirement plan ... to move into a different "sport.'' Kittle's status as one of the most productive offensive players in the league is what helped him earn a four-year $76.4 million deal this offseason ... making him the highest-paid tight end in NFL history. But as he revealed on the "Bussin with the Boys" podcast, the length of that extension may be the final window of his career in the NFL. 'I don't know, I think if I get to 35 and it hurts to put pants on in the morning, I think I'll be like, 'Ah, this isn't that much fun anymore,' and I'll have a conversation with myself. But I'm feeling great right now.' Advertisement But when he doesn't feel great about getting beaten up in the NFL ... He's thinking of throwing his hat into the ring ... in the ring of WWE. 'I haven't daydreamed about it or anything like that, but I'm definitely aware that there are potential opportunities and doors that could be open.... I would love to do WWE. I think there's definitely opportunity within that world.'' Yes, George is a fan of pro wrestling. And he is a character in his own right, so it is easy to envision the jump ... 'My only question mark with that is I so much love being a fan of WWE. I would only do WWE if I bought a ring and practiced my ass off for a long time so I wouldn't look like an idiot out there,'' he said. "I've been in a WWE ring like three times. I don't know what I'm doing out there. I have an understanding of how it works ..." Advertisement WWE stardom would be quite the retirement plan for Kittle. Kittle often makes appearances at notable WWE events, so the transition from fan to wrestler would be quite the site, even if for occasional contests. Oh, and yes, his wife Claire will get a vote here. 'Literally, (I'll play) until I don't have fun anymore,' Kittle said. 'Or if Claire looks at me and goes, 'You kinda look like (expletive) out there, you should retire. I'll be like, 'All right.' Jake Paul faces unusual call out from former boxing champion

The former boxing champion known as Butterbean announced on Sunday he was back for "one more fight" as part of a campaign with Lucky Energy, and he called out Jake Paul. Butterbean, whose real name is Eric Esch, is 58 years old, but that didn't appear to be a problem in the ad he was in. The clip showed the former boxer get up from his wheelchair to call out Paul. "There's only one fighter out there who wants to fight retired bald guys. Jake Paul, I'm coming for you," he said in the commercial posted to Instagram. "… I want to fight Jake Paul because he runs his damn mouth too much." The commercial also took a shot at the Paul brothers' energy drink, Prime, which is a major sponsor in WWE as Logan Paul competes as a wrestler there. Butterbean, 58, was the IBA world super heavyweight champion during his career and won the Elite-1 MMA super heavyweight championship when he tried his hand at mixed martial arts. He was 77-10 as a boxer and 17-10 as an MMA fighter. After he hung up the gloves, Butterbean dealt with chronic pain that hampered his mobility and put him in a wheelchair for about nine years. He worked with WWE legend "Diamond" Dallas Page's yoga program to regain his ability to stand up and walk. Paul has taken the boxing world by storm since he began his foray into the sport. He defeated Julio Cesar Chavez via unanimous decision. It was his first bout since the spectacle with Mike Tyson. Is this the beginning of the end for WWE's John Cena heel run?

Are we looking at the end of the John Cena heel run? Given what a surprise the big turn was in the first place (I still don't think a single person saw it coming), it's interesting how many people are now confidently predicting exactly how and when it will end. And to be honest, they probably have good reason to be confident. One thing is for sure: After yesterday's WWE Night of Champions event, we are heading for a John Cena vs. Cody Rhodes rematch at this year's SummerSlam. That was effectively confirmed the second that Rhodes defeated Randy Orton to become King of the Ring, before taking to the mic to make his intentions clear: 'At SummerSlam,' Rhodes declared, 'I will get my ball back.' Expect an official match graphic to appear on the weekly shows any minute now. Advertisement Will 'The Quarterback' triumph in New Jersey? Given the current status of play, he has to be a serious favorite this time around. If nothing else, the fact that the clock is ticking down on John Cena's retirement tour — according to the man himself, he has 15 dates left — makes a Rhodes victory more likely. Assuming, that is, the whole thing about Cena retiring as champion is a ploy to get heat rather than the genuine creative plan all along… There are other things in Cody's favor. As he's the one who is sticking around to carry the company, a defeat would likely inflict serious damage on his brand — particularly after he went through the effort of winning King of the Ring to earn the title shot. Then there's the fact that Cena has been presented as very much beatable. We saw Saturday night how CM Punk had the champion pinned to rights — albeit after a ref bump — suggesting, once again, that it's the dirty tricks that keep Cena on top. Advertisement Combine all of those factors and you can see why the widespread expectation is this year's SummerSlam will culminate in a reversal of what happened at WrestleMania 41. — i.e. 'The American Nightmare' getting his revenge over the dastardly trio of Cena, Travis Scott and The Rock, who conspired to screw him over in Las Vegas. (Who knows, perhaps the final member of that alliance will actually show up this time…) So where does that leave the Cena heel turn? In normal times, you'd assume it would be the moment to call time on the project. After all, if a babyface is at their most powerful during the chase, the heel is never weaker than when they finally get their just desserts. Whatever you might think of his work ethic, there's a reason that Roman Reigns took a break after losing his title at WrestleMania XL, for example. If this dark Cena had succeeded in getting some genuine heat from the fans in the first place, there might be some merit in having him sticking around to carry on the act. That way, the crowds could get some cathartic relief by jeering the downfall of his whole 'ruin wrestling' shtick. But we've seen time and again how the heel act has struggled to land in the first place: The crowds just don't buy it. Then there's the fact that WWE has seemingly been teasing that Cena might be regretting his heel turn (in kayfabe at least) for a while now. We saw that again last night when 'The Champ' thought twice about clobbering CM Punk with the WWE Universal Championship last night — suggesting, not for the first time, that he feels conflicted about some of these underhand tactics. Advertisement If it was a one-off, you could write it off as a coincidence. But given we had similar teases at WWE Backlash and Money in the Bank, too, you have to assume it's deliberate. As for how you actually execute the big change, your guess is as good as mine. Although given that the audiences have never really believed Cena as the soulless heel, WWE will presumably face much less resistance in turning him face than they did with more established bad guys like Roman Reigns or Brock Lesnar. Don't be surprised if Cena flips as quickly as he did back at Elimination Chamber. No matter how they get there, though, you sense they have to do it. With just 13 scheduled Cena appearances after SummerSlam — including three PLEs and a rumored Saturday Night's Main Event in Boston — WWE is running out of time to create those magic moments when you have a whole arena cheering their man to the rafters. In other words, the thing we all expected to see from the moment that Cena announced his retirement tour in the first place. After a tricky few months, you have to assume that remains the end-game. Forget about 'ruining wrestling' and retiring with the belt as 'the last true champion': The far bigger prize is to walk out with those crowds behind you. Surely even "The Final Boss" can see the wisdom in that?
