KUALA LUMPUR: A Form Four student was killed and his pillion rider injured in a motorcycle accident at Persiaran Sukan, Section 13, Shah Alam, last night. The incident occurred at around 9.45pm when the victim, who was riding a Honda EX5 with another male student, was heading from Bulatan Sukan towards a hypermarket in Section 13. Shah Alam district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the motorcycle is believed to have lost control near the Ramly Halal Mart before crashing into the road divider. "The impact caused both the rider and pillion rider to be flung onto the road. "The rider suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene," he said in a statement today. The pillion rider sustained neck injuries and multiple lacerations on his legs. He was taken to Shah Alam Hospital for treatment. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving. Police are urging witnesses or anyone with information on the incident to contact Investigating Officer Inspector Abdul Nasser Peping from the Shah Alam district police headquarters' traffic division at 012-2863875.

SHAH ALAM: Police are investigating an incident where seven cars parked near the Glenmarie Light Rail Transit (LRT) station were damaged, allegedly by a passing heavy vehicle. District police chief ACP Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim confirmed that the incident occurred around 2.10 pm yesterday. The affected motorists had parked their vehicles along the roadside before boarding the LRT for work. Upon their return, they discovered varying degrees of damage to their cars. 'As of 4 pm this afternoon (Thursday), the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (BSPT) of the Shah Alam police headquarters has received seven police reports related to the incident,' he said in a statement. Investigators are currently reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the responsible party. The case is being probed under Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959. Members of the public with relevant information are urged to contact BSPT investigating officer Insp Abdul Nasser Peping at 012-2863875.
