Benjamin Alves expresses pride for Andrea Torres ahead of 'Akusada' premiere
Benjamin Alves penned an appreciation post for his co-star, Andrea Torres, on Monday ahead of the premiere of their new series, "Akusada," on GMA Afternoon Prime on the same day. On Instagram, Ben shared recent photos of himself and Andrea, as well as photos of their old projects together. "Dre, before our soap and this journey begins, I just want to say how proud I am of you. To witness you go through the ups and downs of this business and come out as a stronger, more talented, and focused woman - it truly makes me happy," he wrote in the caption. According to Ben, he and Andrea have both attended the same acting workshops in the past as they attempted to "figure out who we are in this business." "I'm glad to see your goals, and who you really are, manifest - to the audience, but more so, to yourself," he said. He also thanked Andrea for letting him be her leading man in "Akusada." "I hope I'm giving you plenty to work with on set. Finally, after so many years of doing one-off specials - we finally get to do a full feature soap! As a cast and family of 'Akusada,' we are so excited and honored to have you lead us in this wonderful and engaging story," he said. "Akusada," directed by award-winning director Dominic Zapata, premieres on June 30 at 4 p.m. It follows the story of a woman named Carolina (Andrea) who changes her identity to Lorena Herrera and lives a new life after being accused of a crime she did not commit. Aside from Ben and Andrea, it also stars Lianne Valentin, Marco Masa, Aaron Villena, Ashley Sarmiento, Arnold Reyes, and more. Andrea Torres on learning to give herself credit: 'Lahat ng meron ako, na-earn ko 'yun, nilaban ko 'yun'
Andrea Torres turned emotional as she acknowledged that she sometimes forgets to give herself credit, noting that while she still has many dreams to fulfill, she has also already achieved a lot. In her GMA Integrated News interview with Nelson Canlas, which aired in "24 Oras" Tuesday, Andrea shared that there comes a point in life when she reflects about her goals and whether or not she's on the right path. "May time pa ba? Nasa tamang landas ba ako? Masyado na bang malaki 'yung dream ko na umaasa akong masyadong maaabot ko ito or kailangan ba maging realistic ka, medyo mag step back ka?" she said. The Sparkle actress then teared up when she shared that her mindset about appreciating herself has changed recently. "Medyo nagbago na rin 'yung mindset ko, syempre you have to help yourself. Na-realize ko na minsan nakakalimutan mo na oo, marami ka pang gustong gawin, pero marami ka na rin nagawa, na nakakalimutan mo bigyan ng credit 'yung sarili mo na na-achieve mo 'yun" she said, turning emotional. According to Andrea, she sometimes thinks to herself why things do not always go easily for her. "Minsan kasi ang iniisip ko, bakit ganun, bakit sa akin ang hirap? Ba't hindi nagkakaroon ng moments na parang ayan, binigay lang sa 'yo? Siguro mas dapat kong isipin at least masasabi ko na lahat ng meron ako, na -earn ko 'yun. Nilaban ko 'yun," she said. 'And nakatulong 'yun sa 'kin ngayon kasi iba 'yung appreciation mo sa work mo," she added. During her interview, Andrea also shared how she leans on her family for support. She also called her brother Kenneth who has autism and Down syndrome as her lucky charm. "Alam naming na binigay siya sa 'min kasi siguro capable kami na magmahal nang ganun kalaki, iba 'yung tanggal ng pagod once ngitian ka, once na i-hug ka, every birthday niya July 27, may big thing na nangyayari sa 'kin. Andrea Torres remains single, says she's open to meeting new people
Andrea Torres confirmed that she's still single, but she's not closing her doors on love, and she's open to meeting new people. On Tuesday's 'Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,' the Sparkle star shared insights into her dating philosophy and what she looks for in a partner. 'Hindi na bago sa akin po 'to ah, kasi usually talaga, in between ng boyfriends ko, two years, three years, matagal talaga,' Andrea said. She confirmed that her last relationship was with Derek Ramsay. 'Parang three years [ago] po ata kung tama ang bilang ko,' she said. When asked about her openness to new relationships, Andrea said that she prefers to just go with the flow. 'Pagka sinabi ng friends ko na, 'Uy, meet mo 'to, feel ko bagay kayo.' Sige, mi-meet ko 'yan. Tingnan natin,' she said. Per Andrea, she just waits for the presence of a 'spark,' a feeling of both connection and kilig, which she believes are crucial and cannot be forced, even if a person's personality is otherwise appealing. GMA Afternoon Prime is set to air three new shows later this June: "My Father's Wife," "Akusada," and "Cruz vs. Cruz." On Monday afternoon, GMA Afternoon Prime held a grand media conference attended by most of the cast members of the three upcoming Kapuso TV shows. 'My Father's Wife' "My Father's Wife" follows the story of two childhood friends, Gina Rodriguez (Kylie Padilla) and Betsy Morales (Kazel Kinouchi), who turned into enemies due to financial and lifestyle differences while growing up. Their stories will forever be intertwined when Betsy marries Gina's father, Robert Rodriguez (Gabby Concepcion). Present during the media conference were the main cast, Kylie, Kazel, and Gabby, as well as Arlene Muhlach, Snooky Serna, and Andre Paras. "My Father's Wife" is directed by Aya Topacio and Dominic Zapata. It will premiere on June 23 on GMA Afternoon Prime. Andrea Torres gets surprise birthday party from fans
Andrea Torres was in for a sweet surprise from her fans, who held a 35th birthday party for her. As seen in Sparkle's Instagram Reel, the actress was shocked when she entered the venue. The venue was decorated with had a balloon arch and butterfly-themed elements, anik-anik, and flowers. There was also a photobooth and food stations. Holding a bouquet, Andrea told her fans during the party, 'Maraming salamat kasi sa lahat ng bersyon ko, nandiyan kayo, tinatanggap niyo 'ko.' 'Lagi niyo 'ko binabantayan, lagi kayo nakasuporta. Masayang masaya ako kasi at least ngayon, meron na 'kong masasabi sa inyo maabangan niyo soon diba. Meron nang mapapanood soon,' she added. Andrea is one of the stars of the upcoming Dominic Zapata-directed series, 'Akusada.' It also stars Benjamin Alves, Lianne Valentin, and Marco Masa.
