'Mayele does not want to come to Kaizer Chiefs anymore'
After months of speculation, it seems Fiston Mayele might not join Kaizer Chiefs after all. The 30-year-old is set to leave Pyramids for Saudi Arabia in the coming weeks. Mayele's 'brother' and fellow Congolese Christian Bukasa told KickOff that the striker is no longer interested in playing in South Africa after winning the Caf Champions League. 'He doesn't want South Africa anymore, so I'm surprised that Mayele is still being linked to Chiefs up to now,' he told KickOff. 'When Mayele wanted to come to South Africa, Chiefs turned us down and we moved on. The truth is that while at Yanga, he wanted to come to South Africa, but he was told about age, money, and so felt discouraged. 'He will not even come to Mamelodi Sundowns because the PSL chapter is gone. He now needs to make money and will move to Saudi Arabia, where his salary will be tripled before all other bonuses. We are talking proper money,' Bukasa continued. 'At his age, he needs to make money for himself and his family, and the best destination for him next is Saudi Arabia, where talks are already ongoing with clubs there. 'What is the reason for coming to South Africa for less money now, when there is so much more for him in Saudi Arabia. He told me that he will only come here during the holidays to listen to 'Amapiano' and not to play soccer. For soccer, all the teams must forget, and this is the truth. 'In Africa, besides Pyramids, he can only play for Al Ahly,' he said. With Mayele set to leave for Saudi, Chiefs should start looking for a striker. Can Kaizer Chiefs cough up R53m for Africa's most feared striker?
Kaizer Chiefs could very well lose out on Pyramids striker Fiston Mayele. The 30-year-old Congolese goal poacher has been linked with the Soweto giants for nearly two months now. He finished the season with 18 goals across all competitions, helping secure Pyramids' first-ever CAF Champions League title after defeating Mamelodi Sundowns in the final. Last week, the striker posted a cryptic message on social media, which led many to believe he was leaving Pyramids. Two seasons with Pyramids, 41 goals in all competitions. Thank you very much to the whole team and thanks to all these people for their help in everything, Alhamdulillah,' Mayele shared on Instagram. According to Soccer Laduma , Pyramids are looking to offer Mayele a two-year contract offer which is reportedly close to US$3 million (approximately R53 million). 'The only way Mayele can join Kaizer Chiefs is if the player himself wants to reunite with coach Nasreddine Nabi,' a source told the publication. 'It won't be because of money. Pyramids FC are offering him enough money to stay at the club or sell him to a club that can offer more money than Kaizer Chiefs. Chiefs are believed to be offering around a R5 million signing on fee to be spread in three seasons and a monthly salary of between R1 million and up to R1.5 million. So it's kind of difficult for Chiefs to sign him if it's all about money only. Unless the player himself loves to come and play for the club,' the insider said.
