While reviewing the status of the mission during a meeting, the deputy CM said that out of the ₹ 6,300 crore sanctioned by the Centre, only ₹ 5,100 crore has been received so far and an amount of ₹ 1,200 crore was still pending with the central government.
'The state government will strongly take up the matter of releasing the pending amount with the Centre,' he said.
JJM is a flagship programme of the Union government being implemented in partnership with the states with the objective to provide tap water connection in every rural household.
'During the financial year 2024-25, out of ₹ 920 crore sanctioned, the state has received ₹ 137 crore and ₹ 783 crore was yet to be disbursed,' he said during the meeting. Progress of various developmental projects under the department were also reviewed.
The deputy chief minister directed departmental officials to prioritise and complete all pending works within the fixed time frame. He said that effective management of water resources and ensuring reliable water supply remains a key priority of the present state government. He instructed the concerned officers to visit the field to monitor ongoing projects and address public grievances promptly and to submit the detailed reports of ground visits to the senior officers so that necessary action could be taken to address the issues.
Agnihotri also asked the officials to prepare a detailed report regarding the Jal Rakshak who have completed 12 years of service in the department, so that the matter could be brought before the cabinet.

BARGARH: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday described eminent Koshali poet Haldhar Nag as 'a shining jewel of India and a symbol of Odisha's identity, emotion, and expression'. Addressing a two-day national seminar titled 'Haldhar - Sajan Aar Darshan,' he said the poet's contribution to enriching Sambalpuri language and literature is unparalleled and continues to inspire generations. Organised jointly by Abhimanyu Sahitya Sansad, Ghens, and Krishna Vikash Group of Institutions, Bargarh, the seminar marked a significant effort to take Sambalpuri literature to a pan-Indian platform. The multilingual event saw attendance by literary scholars from both within and outside Odisha. It brought together scholars, researchers, and literary enthusiasts from across the country to delve into the cultural and philosophical legacy of the iconic poet, often hailed as the pride and poetic spirit of Odisha. Describing Nag's work as rich in philosophy and deeply rooted in cultural wisdom, Pradhan stressed the need for broader efforts to preserve and promote his writings at all levels. 'Literature is a tool that activates the consciousness of an individual. It constantly stirs intellectual waves and builds new emotions. While not everyone becomes a writer, literature resides in everyone. Its need is universal,' said Pradhan while addressing the gathering. Congress will pay price for neglecting SES-2015, claims Union Minister Bhupender Yadav
BENGALURU: Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav on Saturday predicted that the Congress in Karnataka will meet the same fate as its national counterpart as it has ignored the Socio-Economic Educational Survey-2015 (caste census report). Delivering the keynote address at the seminar 'Caste Census: Retrospective-Prospective' organised by the Social Justice Awareness Forum at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Yadav said that Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his government and LoP in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi were anti-backward classes. The Karnataka government had recently shelved the caste census of 2015 and opted for a fresh survey. Yadav said that the Congress lost power at the Centre because it ignored the Kaka Kalelkar Commission report recommending the upliftment of backward classes socially and educationally. He expressed confidence that when the backward classes become aware that the Congress is averse to their upliftment in Karnataka, it will not be able to return to power. 'Why did those who (Rahul Gandhi) keep the Constitution in their pockets not implement the Kaka Kalelkar Commission report? After the country became independent from the Emergency and from family rule, the Janata Party came to power at the Centre. It also formed the Mandal Commission. The Congress was out of power when the issue of justice for OBCs came to the fore. But when it came to power a few years later, it had ignored the Mandal Commission report as it did it with the Kaka Kalelkar report,' Yadav said, adding that the BJP-backed VP Singh government implemented the Mandal Commission report and got reservation for OBCs.
