CM Stalin reviews party work from hospital, prepares petition to PM Modi
A statement said the representation would include demands related to various development projects to be taken up in the state.
The chief minister also announced that Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu would be submitting the petition to Modi.
Later in the evening, DMK's regional in-charges visited Stalin in the hospital to discuss party activities, especially the 'Oraniyil Tamil Nadu' campaign. Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, party treasurer TR Baalu, and organisation secretary RS Bharathi were also present.
Stalin reviewed the constituency-wise progress in enrolment under 'Oraniyil Tamil Nadu'.
He appreciated the functionaries of 150 Assembly constituencies that have crossed 30% enrolment in party membership. He also pointed out the districts and constituencies that were lagging and asked the respective regional in-charges to pay special attention to them.
The chief minister also pointed out discrepancies in enrolment at certain polling stations and directed the functionaries of those booths to conduct the process afresh. He also asked party leaders about the public response to the 'Ungaludan Stalin' scheme.
On X platform, Stalin posted, 'Although the doctors are insisting that I remain in the hospital, I do not feel like resting while my party cadres are tirelessly working on the field.'

'It is a 24x7 job. There is no time for anything else,' says one of the two managers who don't want to be named. 'Booth agents go to every house taking the message of the party and the leader to people and listen to their problems,' he says. They project Vijay as 'Makkal virumbum mudhalvar vetpalar' (The CM candidate people yearn for). 'We've completed training sessions for 120 party district secretaries,' says Aadhav. TVK recently launched the app 'MY TVK', for digital enrolment of members; it claims to have added 2.5 crore members. 'Our leader can directly access the 2.9 lakh office bearers,' he says. 'MGR started his party not based on alliance, but on his party cadre and people. People wanted change. It is a similar scenario now. Their only hope is Vijay, who is against family and corruption,' says Aadhav. Vijay's political strategist Jhon Arokiasamy calls TVK the largest party in the state. 'The party will either contest all the seats on its own or, after the conference and TN tour, consider alliances,' he says. Arokiasamy says TVK is not interested in AIADMK or BJP. 'When you oppose divisive politics and corruption, you have to be against DMK and AIADMK. And BJP is an ideological rival,' he says. TVK believes AIADMK, having lost 10 elections since 2017, cannot defeat DMK, and hence the battle is between DMK and TVK. 'Palaniswami is not a universally accepted leader within and outside the party. And TVK is the new force,' says Arokiasamy. During earlier interactions with AIDMK, the actor had demanded that he be projected as the CM face, and his party would contest half the seats. Party general secretary Anand says Vijay will take the final decision on alliance. 'Whatever be his decision, we will win the election, and he will be CM. TN sees Rs 32,500cr investments at first regional investment conclave
TUTICORIN: Big-ticket investments to the tune of Rs 32,554 crore were signed at Tamil Nadu's first regional investment conclave, TN Rising, at Tuticorin on Monday. The 41 MoUs were in multiple sectors including electronics, defence, ship building and non-leather footwear. Tuticorin topped in investments with Sakthi Group promising Rs 5,000 crore for ammunition and propellant manufacturing and April Fiber Resource (RGE) Rs 4,953 crore for a man-made fibre unit. Yeemak & Jeanuvs will invest Rs 3,400 crore to make advanced electronics and defence components, and Kaynes Circuits India Rs 4,995 crore to manufacture advanced electronic components in Tuticorin and other districts. Radha Engineering Works will invest Rs 1,500 crore in ship, allied vessels, tug component manufacturing in Tuticorin. Mobius Energy will invest Rs 1,000 crore in solar cell and module manufacturing in Theni district. Prathiksha Green Fuels will put in Rs 1,500 crore for bio-methanol and bio-char manufacturing Hwaseung Enterprise will invest Rs 1,720 crore in the non-leather footwear sector. Lifeguard union stages protest in front of Secretariat
Kerala Lifeguard Employees' Union marched to the Secretariat and staged a dharna on Monday demanding that the labour issues of lifeguards be resolved. Their demands included permanent employment for life guards who have been working for the Tourism department for over 30 years, implementation of social security schemes and ESI/EPF, pension benefits and gratuity for lifeguards, appointment of women life guards, appropriate hike in salary, reinstation of food, uniform allowances and supply of necessary rescue gear to life guards Inaugurating the march and dharna, the Leader of the Opposition V. D. Satheesan, said that it was deplorable that the government seemed disinterested in resolving the issues of those who risked their own safety on a daily basis to keep others safe. He criticised the government for neglecting the basic workforce in the tourism sector, one of the core sectors in the State which brought in substantial foreign revenue to the State Mr. Satheesan assured the life guards that their issues would be taken up in the upcoming Assembly session
