Telugu actor Vishnu Manchu has accused his brother
Manoj Manchu
of being involved in the theft of a crucial hard disk containing footage from their upcoming mythological film 'Kannappa'.
As per an India Today report, during a media interaction in Chennai, where Vishnu, who was promoting the film along with the cast, he claimed that a hard disk containing vital VFX work and pivotal scenes from 'Kannappa' was stolen.
According to the report, the disk was sent from Hive Studios in Mumbai to their father
Mohan Babu
's residence in Film Nagar, Hyderabad, which is the usual delivery point for packages meant for the Manchu siblings. The disk was handed over to two individuals named Raghu and Charitha, who have since gone missing. Vishnu alleged that the two are reportedly connected to Manoj Manchu, with Raghu acting as his personal assistant and Charitha linked to his office.
The theft reportedly took place about four weeks ago, but the production team only filed a police complaint after multiple unsuccessful attempts to contact Manoj and his associates. Vishnu expressed concern over the potential leak of the footage but reassured that the hard disk is password-protected, making unauthorised access highly unlikely. He urged the public not to watch any leaked content, as immense effort had gone into making the film.

"You all know what happened within our family. We tried to reach Manoj through our friends, but to no avail. We don't know if they stole it or acted upon someone's orders. It was after these attempts we filed a police complaint," he said.
He addressed the controversy while requesting the media to refrain from probing into family matters during the promotional event.
'Kannappa' is a much-anticipated pan-Indian mythological drama directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh. The film tells the story of Bhakta Kannappa, a devoted follower of Lord Shiva, with Vishnu Manchu playing the titular role. The star-studded cast includes Mohan Babu, Sarathkumar, Madhoo, and cameo appearances by Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, Mohanlal, and Kajal Aggarwal.
The film will hit the big screens on June 27.

17 arrests, 11 FIRs daily: Haryana drug fight hits new high

Chandigarh: With an average of 17 arrests and 11 FIRs daily in the first six months of the year, Haryana's drug fight is at a new high. From Jan to June, police registered 1,858 FIRs under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, a 10.81% increase compared to the same period last year, according to data from the Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau (HSNCB). Arrests also climbed nearly 28%, with 3,051 people taken into custody. Drug seizures have surged as well. Heroin confiscations rose by 62.28%, cocaine by 93.15%, and MDMA by 86.21%. Meanwhile, seizures of tablets, opium mixer camper, opium plants, and injections have seen declines. The data also showed a 28.75% increase in serious drug-related cases compared to the same period last year. Arrests of suspects from outside Haryana increased by 34.5%, highlighting efforts to dismantle interstate smuggling networks. Cases involving multiple accused also nearly doubled, from 471 last year to 850 this year. O P Singh, DGP, HSNCB, informed that what stands out this year is the state's sharper focus on large-scale cases. "In 2025 so far, Haryana registered 233 commercial quantity cases, up from 166 last year —a nearly 29% jump. These cases involved larger amounts of drugs, often linked to organised networks. We are now working with a "top-down and bottom-up" approach — trying to track both the street-level suppliers and the big players behind the scenes, including financiers and logistics operators," Singh said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Investire è più facile che mai BG SAXO Scopri di più Undo Preventive detentions under the PIT-NDPS Act rose from 8 to 39 this year, and property seizures linked to drug profits have grown to Rs 87.19 lakh from Rs 23.40 lakh last year. Autorikshaw drivers demand action against unauthorised autos in city

Kalaburagi: The proliferation of unauthorised autorickshaws and bike taxis in Kalaburagi has significantly impacted the livelihood of permitted autorickshaw drivers. The Autorickshaw Drivers' Association has highlighted that there are approximately 1,000 electric autos operating without proper permits, while another 1,500 to 2,000 autos with taluk licenses are plying within city limits. The situation has been further compounded by the govt's guarantee power scheme, which has resulted in a 50% reduction in the earnings of legitimate auto drivers. Licensed drivers are struggling to meet their financial obligations, including house rent, children's education fees, and vehicle loan repayments. The association's president, Laxmikant Malipatil, has urged immediate action from authorities to address this growing concern. He emphasised the need for stricter enforcement measures and the confiscation of unauthorised vehicles operating within the city limits. The challenges faced by auto drivers are exemplified by drivers like Mallikarjun, who previously earned between Rs 13,000 to Rs 15,000 monthly by transporting school children. Recent traffic police regulations regarding safety measures have restricted the number of school children that can be transported, reducing his monthly earnings to approximately Rs 8,000. They suggest implementing stricter monitoring systems, regular enforcement drives, and measures to protect the interests of authorised auto drivers who have invested in obtaining proper permits and licenses. Local authorities are being urged to take swift action to regulate the transport sector effectively, while ensuring the livelihood of legitimate auto drivers is protected. If authorities control the operation of illegal autorickshaws in Kalaburagi city, the licensed rickshaw operators would experience increased passenger demand for their services. Speaking to TOI, Kalaburagi city police commissioner Sharanappa SD stated that the police department and RTO are jointly seizing autorickshaws, and around 300 non-permit autorickshaws have already been seized. This process will continue throughout the year. If anyone can provide information about specific unauthorised autorickshaws, those too will be seized, he assured.

CBI books city man for encashing fraudulent TDS refunds using PAN loophole

Nagpur: After a probe by the income tax department revealed that fraudulent refunds on tax deducted at source (TDS) were availed by a former bank staffer, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has booked a Nagpur resident, Rattandeep Borkar. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now He allegedly misused his login credentials from the time he was working for Canara Bank, which later discontinued him, but the credentials were left active. Borkar identified cases where the TDS was deducted but the permanent account number (PAN) was not available. Taking advantage of the gap, he filed revised returns claiming refunds in such cases. However, this time he inserted PANs of persons known to him, and tweaked the system so that he got the tax refunds in their names. Borkar inserted PANs of 92 persons in entries where the PAN was not available in the bank records. Total refunds of over Rs1.26 crore were availed, and the persons whose PAN was used also got a cut, says the FIR. The CBI first information report also covers unknown officials of the PSU bank, noting that the fraud could not have happened without insider connivance. TOI had reported that tax sleuths are probing a TDS refund claim in a PSU bank in April. Based on the probe, the CBI registered an offence now. Borkar is alleged to have misused the original conso file and the unique token numbers in the systems. He then identified the cases from the financial year 2011-12 to 2018-19 and downloaded the latest TDS returns for revision. He also modified the files using the file validation utility and return preparation utility, as well as forging Canara Bank officials' signatures. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Even Form 27A was generated, finally enabling the refund amounts to go into his accomplices' accounts, according to the CBI FIR. The income tax department too has sent notices to the beneficiaries. The refunds were revised from July 2023 to September 2024. The allegedly fraudulent returns were filed in Gandhi Nagar, Sitabuldi, Ramdaspeth, and Sadar branches of the bank. Meanwhile, sources said mainly senior citizens who get interest on their accounts generally don't have PAN. Such accounts were particularly identified and exploited.
