
Two killed, baby among nine injured in five-vehicle crash in Kota Tinggi
KOTA TINGGI: Two people were killed and nine others, including a seven-month-old baby, were injured in a road crash involving five vehicles near Felda Pasak along Jalan Desaru-Kota Tinggi here today.
According to the Johor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre, an emergency call was received at 4.17pm and six firemen in an engine arrived at the scene 11 minutes later.
"The accident involved five vehicles: four cars — a Toyota Corolla, Perodua Axia, Proton Saga and Perodua Bezza — and a Hino lorry.
"Eleven victims were involved in the incident, including two men, aged 69 and 74, who were travelling in the Toyota Corolla. They were found trapped in the vehicle and were pronounced dead at the scene," it said in a statement.
Nine other victims, aged between seven months and 52 years, sustained minor injuries. All had exited their vehicles before the arrival of the firemen and received initial treatment from Ministry of Health personnel. – BERNAMA

KOTA TINGGI: A man died when the Proton Saga he was driving crashed into two other vehicles, which were parked on Jalan Teratai, Felda Bukit Aping Barat, last night. The 46-year-old victim, Sazali Mohd Razak, was confirmed dead at the scene due to severe body injuries. Kota Tinggi District Police Chief Superintendent Yusof Othman said information regarding the accident was received from the public at 10.25pm. He said preliminary investigations found that the accident was believed to have occurred when the victim lost control of his car and collided with two vehicles, a Proton Wira and a Toyota Hiace, which were parked in front of a house. "As a result of the collision, the 46-year-old Proton Saga driver sustained severe internal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene," he said in a statement yesterday. Yusof added that the victim's body was sent to the Kota Tinggi Hospital Forensic Unit. "The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
