"Dreaming" about coming to power: BRS MLC K Kavitha lashes out at Congress, BJP

India Gazette7 hours ago
Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], July 6 (ANI): Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K Kavitha on Sunday hit out at the ruling Congress and the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Telangana, saying that both the parties were 'dreaming' about coming to power in the state.
She expressed confidence that her party will return to power in Telangana, as they have stood firmly with marginalised groups. She said that the Congress government in the state has 'utterly failed' while the BJP has 'sabotaged' the MLC membership of a leader belonging to the Yerukula community.
'Today, the Congress Govt has utterly failed in Telangana. In a short span of 18 months, they have failed every section and failed to address everybody. They are hoping to come back to power, which is really something that the people of Telangana are unable to understand. However, at the same time, the BJP has directly affected the MLC membership of Satyanarayana, who belongs to the Yerukula community. When KCR gave him an MLC seat, they sabotaged his nomination and rejected it at the Governor level. This is nothing but political. Therefore, we believe that when you sabotage communities like this, you cannot regain power in Telangana. The BJP is only dreaming that it will come back to power. Congress is also dreaming, but BRS is the only party that stood by these communities, and we are going to come back to power,' Kavitha told ANI.
Earlier, BRS Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR) accepted Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's public challenge to debate on what each government has done for Telangana's farmers. In a sharp rebuttal delivered at Telangana Bhavan, KTR invited Revanth to fix the date, time, and place of the discussion, declaring his readiness to face the debate 'anywhere, anytime.'
KTR took a jibe at the Chief Minister's preparedness, stating, 'Revanth Reddy doesn't even have basic knowledge of agriculture. I am generously giving him 72 hours to prepare. Otherwise, he'll show up and talk about 'basins' and 'okra', making a mockery of himself and the office he holds.'
He said even a bull next to a farmer could explain how agriculture thrived under the leadership of KCR. Accusing Revanth Reddy of acting as a covert ally of Chandrababu Naidu, KTR said Telangana's water resources were being diverted to Andhra Pradesh under the guise of projects like Banakacharla.
'Revanth is looting Telangana's water and funds, all to please his political mentor. This is not public governance, this is covert rule,' he alleged.
Drawing a sharp contrast between the BRS and the Congress administrations, KTR said that while BRS ushered in 'Raithu Rajyam' (Farmer's Rule), the Congress has brought back a version of 'Emergency Rule' reminiscent of Indira Gandhi's regime.
'From punishing farmers to pushing them into endless queues for fertilisers, Congress has only brought suffering,' he added. (ANI)

Harish's diktat to govt: Immediately start Kannepally pump house

Hyderabad: Senior BRS leader T Harish Rao on Sunday demanded the government to immediately start the Kannepally pump house motors or the BRS leaders led by KCR would visit the site with lakhs of farmers and switch on the motors. Addressing a press conference here at Telangana Bhavan, Harish Rao said that the government should switch on the Kannepalli pump house motors and water should be supplied to the farmers. 'We will not leave this government. We will show the strength of the people's power. If a leader who knows the value of water becomes the Chief Minister, he will use every opportunity to divert that water. Telangana is facing problems because leaders who do not know the value of water are rulers,' said Harish Rao. On an average, each motor lifts 2,100 cusecs of water. Regardless of the Medigadda barrage, even if all the gates are opened, there is a possibility of taking two tmcft of water per day, he added. The BRS leader said that even if the entire gates of the Medigadda Barrage are open, the Kannepalli pump house motors should be turned on and water should be supplied. There is a possibility of getting two tmcft of water per day from the Kannepalli pump house. If the Kaleshwaram motors are started today, there is a possibility of supplying water to 15 districts. The Chief Minister is repeatedly making big statements that he is 'Palamuru bidda' but the Palamuru farmers were being deceived. Rao said that there were floods in Srisailam on May 30 and even after 36 days, the Kalvakurthi motors have not been turned on. The Revanth Reddy government is the only government which used the least water in Krishna after the formation of Telangana state. Revanth Reddy gave away 65 tmcft to AP CM Chandrababu Naidu. The goal of this government is to release Krishna water to Andhra, said Harish Rao. 'They declared a crop holiday in Mahabubnagar district and released water for the third crop in Andhra. This time too, they are trying to release water to Andhra,' claimed Rao. The BRS leader said that if the Kalwakurthy project motors were not started in Mahabubnagar district, thousands of farmers would go to the project site and turn on the motors. He said that the states of Karnataka and Maharashtra are receiving good rains. Unfortunately, Telangana was experiencing a drought. Rainfall has been below average. Farmers in the state are in deep distress. Farmers are not able to sow seeds. The seeds they have sown are not able to germinate. The government's attitude of not caring when water is flowing in front of its eyes comes under criminal negligence, he alleged. In places where there is no river, reservoirs with a capacity of about 141 tmcft were built and made ready like Ranganayaka Sagar, Mallanna Sagar, Kondapochamma Sagar, Baswapur. There are pump houses. There are sub-stations. There are reservoirs. What is the problem faced by the Revanth Reddy government in lifting water? If these reservoirs are filled with water, there will be a possibility of growing two crops in lakhs of acres, he said.

Harish spreading canards, we know when to start motors: Uttam

Hyderabad: Ina sharp rebuttal to BRS leader T Harish Rao, Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Sunday accused the Revanth Reddy government's predecessor of conspiring to mislead Palamuru farmers. He asserted that while the Congress government's intention is to support farmers during harvest, BRS leaders harbour 'evil intentions' of terrorising and confusing them every season. Responding to the BRS leader's demand to start the motors of Kannepalli Pump House, Uttam Kumar Reddy stated that the BRS was 'constantly conspiring to cheat and worry farmers in the state,' and was 'spreading conspiratorial lies.' He claimed that 'Harish Rao has become accustomed to spreading lies more than Goebbels.' Uttam highlighted that last year, alongside the monsoon, Telangana farmers cultivated a record amount of paddy in the recent Yasangi season, an unprecedented achievement in India's history. 'Forgetting that fact, Harish Rao is speaking falsehood,' he said. Uttam reminded that BRS had spread similar lies even before the Rabi season, making 'devious attempts to create panic among the farmers.' He detailed the state's agricultural success, noting that in the last monsoon, farmers cultivated paddy on 66.7 lakh acres and harvested 153.5 lakh metric tonnes of paddy. In Rabi, Telangana farmers cultivated paddy on 60 lakh acres, achieving a yield of 130 lakh metric tonnes. 'The record of achieving 283 lakh metric tonnes of paddy in a single year in the history of the country was achieved under the leadership of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy during the Congress government,' Uttam Kumar Reddy asserted. The Irrigation Minister further stated that the Medigadda barrage had collapsed due to the 'incompetence, negligence, and mismanagement of the BRS.' He added that the Annaram and Sundilla barrages also remain in a dangerous condition. The National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) found fault with the construction of Medigadda using secant piles technology. 'Like Medigadda, the Annaram and Sundilla barrages have become dangerous because they were built using the same secant piles foundation technology. They are in an unusable condition,' he explained. Uttam questioned, 'Have you forgotten that out of the 160 TMCs of water lifted from Medigadda to Annaram, Sundilla, and to Yellampally in the past, about 57 TMCs of water was again released into the sea by lifting the gates and pouring public money into the river?' Uttam affirmed that the Congress government would take appropriate decisions on these projects as per the advice and suggestions of the NDSA, stating, 'We do not need to believe the words of Harish Rao.'

FIR Lodged Against 2 Individuals Over Rahul Gandhi's Morphed Image On Sanitary Pad

Last Updated: The case has been registered against Ratan Ranjan and Arun Kosil at the High Grounds Police Station in Bengaluru following a complaint by Priyanka Devi, a Youth Congress worker. The Congress on Sunday lodged an FIR against two individuals for allegedly creating and circulating a morphed and fake images of Lok Sabha leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi on a sanitary pad. The videos and images, which went viral on social media platforms, showed Rahul Gandhi's photo being pasted on a sanitary pad, and purportedly being distributed under the party's Priyadarshini Udaan Yojana in Bihar. Congress leader Supriya Shrinate confirmed that an FIR has been registered regarding the video. 'An FIR has been lodged against the misuse of Rahul Gandhi's image to create a fake video. Action is also being taken against others involved," Shrinate said on Sunday. राहुल गांधी जी की तस्वीर का गलत इस्तेमाल करके Fake वीडियो बनाने के खिलाफ FIR दर्ज करा दी गई हैअभी औरों के ख़िलाफ़ भी एक्शन लिया जा रहा है — Supriya Shrinate (@SupriyaShrinate) July 6, 2025 The case has been registered against Ratan Ranjan and Arun Kosil at the High Grounds Police Station in Bengaluru following a complaint by Priyanka Devi, a Youth Congress worker. The accused, reportedly Bihar-based, allegedly morphed Rahul Gandhi's picture and placed it on a sanitary pad. The complaint claimed that this act was intended to spread false information, defame, and promote misogynistic views. The complainant also sought action against those who have reposted the post. FIR has been registered under BNS 192 for provoking someone with the intent to cause a riot. Section 336(4) for forging an electronic record specifically to harm someone's reputation and BNS section 353 for spreading false statements, rumours, or reports likely to cause public mischief, fear, or animosity. The controversy emerged just days after Congress launched a menstrual hygiene initiative in Bihar. The party began distributing sanitary pads to women in the state, citing alarming survey data. Meanwhile, the Congress' decision to front Rahul Gandhi's face on the free sanitary pads it aims to distribute to women in Bihar has triggered a massive row. The rival parties have questioned the rationale of Gandhi's face on the product meant for women. The pads are being distributed under the party's Priyadarshini Udaan Yojana, aimed at raising menstrual hygiene awareness among women in Bihar. The initiative, says the party, is part of a larger campaign for women voters in the state. The boxes being distributed under the initiative feature photos of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, aiming to increase awareness and visibility of the drive. First Published:
