Delhi mega cleanliness drive: Over 3,500 km of MCD roads cleaned, encroachments removed
All 12 zones of the corporation were covered under the drive that comprised cleaning, encroachment removal, and issuing of challans.
As part of the drive, the MCD has cleaned over 3,500 kilometers of roads — the highest amount of cleaning was done in the Rohini Zone, followed by Najafgarh, Karol Bagh, and South Zone, Gupta said in a statement.
'The 'Swachh Delhi' initiative by the Delhi government is receiving tremendous support from the citizens of the capital. The latest figures released by the MCD shows that this comprehensive cleanliness campaign is delivering remarkable results on the ground,' Gupta had said in a statement.
A total of 11,131 challans were issued against encroachments, with West Zone recording the highest number of 2,994 challans. Additionally, 5,932 illegal materials were seized, and 186.5 kilometers of roads were cleared of encroachments.
Gupta said that to address water-logging issues during monsoon, comprehensive cleaning of the MCD drains was carried out — 19,892.38 metric tonnes of silt has been removed so far.
As of May 21, the Irrigation and Flood Control Department removed 13,72,276 metric tonnes of silt from 27 drains in Delhi, with instructions to complete the removal of the remaining silt by May 31.
Gupta shared that several stray animals have been transferred to various gaushalas and stray dogs vaccinated against rabies, while unauthorised dairies were sealed in Najafgarh and Keshav Puram.
The CM shared that, on an average, 33,809 sanitation workers and other related personnel participated actively in the campaign daily.
The government has also identified 4,139 dark spots and rectified them, repaired 4,140 streetlights and installed 285 new lamps to ensure proper lighting.
Additionally, 283 Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) were engaged through interactive meetings aimed at empowering citizens' participation in cleanliness.
In busy commercial areas, a night-time cleanliness drive was conducted in 418 major markets and removed 37,628 illegal posters, 8,399 banners and 3,917 hoardings from public walls, poles, and hoardings. Besides, 30 walls have been beautified with cleanliness based artwork and cultural themes.
Efforts such as grass cutting, removal of unauthorized encroachments, elimination of illegal posters, and repair of damaged roads, management of construction and demolition (C&D) waste were amongst the tasks carried out in a similar cleanliness drive that was carried out in all 14 circles of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).

The party took to X to pull a jab at Rekha Gupta, alleging that crores were being spent to turn the residence into a 'Mayamahal'. Congress, too, alleged that a 'Rangmahal' is being constructed for them while accusing others of making a 'Sheeshmahal'. According to the PWD tender issued on June 28, the proposed additions at Delhi chief minister's house will include 14 air conditioners, five 4k ultra HD LED smart television sets – four 55 inch units and one 65 inch unit – 10 flood lights, chandeliers, wall illumination fixtures and an electric chimney. Other fixtures include, 14 CCTV cameras, an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system, 23 remote-controlled ceiling fans, 16 wall fans and six geysers. According to the tender, the bungalow will be fitted with 115 lighting fixtures, including wall lights, hanging lamps, and three large chandeliers. A brass frame glass chandelier with six LED bulbs and two smaller units will be used in drawing room. Additionally, the common hall areas will feature 16 large round flush-ceiling lights with a nickel finish, seven brass ceiling lanterns, and eight brass-and-glass lantern wall lights. 'This [brass and glass lantern wall lights] unit is the epitome of timeless elegance,' the PWD official said. In the kitchen, an electric chimney, a gas hop with electromagnetic burners, a 20 litre microwave, and a water purifier will be included.

Rs 59 lakh-renovation for Delhi CM Rekha Gupta's bungalow
The Public Works Department (PWD) will carry out upgradation work worth over Rs 59.40 lakh at Bungalow Number 1, Raj Niwas Marg, which has been allotted to Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta , according to an order. The work will be taken up to fix electrical and civil work, and will involve the installation of 14 split air conditioners worth Rs 7.7 lakh, five LED TVs worth Rs 9.9 lakh, and 23 ceiling fans with a remote control costing Rs 1.8 lakh. Fourteen CCTV cameras worth Rs 5.74 lakh will be installed, and the residence will also have a UPS system for power backup. Other appliances include six geysers for Rs 91,000, one automatic washing machine for Rs 77,000, a toast grill for Rs 85,000, and one dishwasher for Rs 60,000. A total of 23 ceiling fans worth Rs 1.8 lakh and, as part of illumination work, 115 lamps, hanging lights, and three big chandeliers will be put up in the house at the cost of Rs 6 lakh. The overall cost of renovation is Rs 59,40,170. Gupta, who has been living in her private home since taking office in February, will soon move into one of the two bungalows allotted to her on Raj Niwas Marg The Delhi Public Works Department (PWD) has floated a ₹60 lakh tender to upgrade Chief Minister Rekha Gupta's official residence with premium appliances and fittings, including 23 silent ceiling remote-controlled fans, 14 split air-conditioners, five 4K Ultra HD Smart TVs, and a 16-place setting dishwasher. Gupta, who has been living in her private home since taking office in February, will soon move into one of the two bungalows allotted to her on Raj Niwas Marg. The tender also includes the installation of one unit each of a microwave, oven, toaster grill, RO water purifier, 10 kg fully automatic washing machine, water cooler, and a five-burner gas hob. Gupta has been allotted two bungalows on Raj Niwas Marg. While the current tender is for the first bungalow, which she will use as her residence, another tender will be issued for renovating the second one into her office. The document – titled Renovation and Upgradation of Bungalow No. 1, including replacement of electrical wiring, fittings & fixtures, and execution of various miscellaneous electrical works – states that the bids will be opened at 3:30 PM on July 04, and the work must be completed within 60 days. The tender issued last week lists the cost of 14 split ACs at ₹7.7 lakh, with each priced at around ₹55,440. Six geysers are priced at ₹91,596, and one washing machine at ₹77,750. The ceiling fans, each priced at ₹8,000, will cost ₹1.81 lakh in total. The CM's residence will also be equipped with two 3 HP horizontal openwell submersible pumps, each costing ₹38,743. The house will feature three chandeliers costing ₹90,294 collectively. The Chief Minister's new residence will also feature an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system worth ₹2.08 lakh. The kitchen will be fitted with a 90 cm wall-mounted electric chimney featuring auto-clean curved glass, baffle filters, touch control, and a motion sensor, priced at ₹27,309. The five-burner auto-ignition gas top will cost ₹63,104. The 20-litre microwave is priced at ₹32,579, while the 71-litre OTG will cost ₹85,828. Other kitchen appliances include a nine-litre storage capacity RO unit (₹22,263), a dishwasher (₹60,809), another RO system with a capacity of 50 litres per hour (₹48,353), and a water cooler (₹54,536). PWD will also procure four 55-inch TVs, each priced at ₹68,129, and one 65-inch TV costing over ₹97,000. The renovation is part of the standard provision for a chief minister's official residence, with the PWD overseeing execution as per government norms. Arvind Kejriwal, the former chief minister, was allotted 6, Flagstaff Road—a residence that later came under fire for its reported ₹33 crore renovation, earning it the moniker 'Sheesh Mahal." Gupta had earlier announced that she would not occupy that bungalow, and instead plans to convert it into a museum—calling it a 'symbol of corruption" under the previous Aam Aadmi Party government. The Delhi BJP has refused to comment on the tender. A statement from the city government is also awaited.
