Man shot while attempting to break into McKeesport apartment
Allegheny County Police say that detectives from their Homicide Unit were called to McKeesport after a man was critically injured in a shooting.
Police say the incident started around 1:30 a.m. on Monday when a domestic incident took place along Highland Avenue and a woman told police she was assaulted by her boyfriend.
When officers were to the home to take the man into custody related to the assault, police say he refused to leave the home. When officers forced entry into the home, the man fled through a back window, police said.
Police say the man then tried entering someone else's apartment by opening a window and when he climbed through that window, he was shot by someone in the apartment.
The man who was shot was taken to the hospital in critical condition and Allegheny County Police detectives are now investigating.
It's unclear what charges the man who was shot may face stemming from the assault or if the person who shot him will face any charges.

'He didn't say he made a plan, he just said he just can't take it anymore.' Tamura's mother placed the call from outside a Budget Suites Motel and reported that her son was threatening to hurt himself. 'He just started crying and slamming things and said I'm making him worse, so I said, 'I'll step outside,'' she said. 'I don't want you to be upset, but I'm afraid to leave.' She told dispatchers she would wait in the stairwell because she did not want Tamura to know she had called the police. Tamura was committed to a hospital again in 2024 after calling his mother and making statements about wanting to hurt himself, according to a first responder captured on body camera video released by Las Vegas police. Tamura, 27, worked at the Horseshoe Las Vegas until last week, when authorities say he drove his car to New York and carried out the shooting.

Large police and fire response at pond in Wood Dale, Illinois
