July 9 (UPI) -- HBO Max announced Wednesday that it has ordered the series Stuart Fails to Save the Universe. It is the first Big Bang Theory spinoff exclusively for the streaming service.
Kevin Sussman returns as Stuart, a comic book shop owner from the original show. Lauren Lapkus, Brian Posehn and John Ross Bowie also reprise their roles.
In the series, Stuart breaks one of physicists Sheldon and Leonard's devices opening a multiverse. Sheldon and Leonard are the characters played by Jim Parsons and Johnny Galecki on The Big Bang Theory.
Stuart and girlfriend Denise (Lapkus), geologist Bert (Posehn) and quantum physicist Barry Kripke (Bowie) have to save our original reality. Along the way, the show promises to introduce multiverse incarnation of Big Bang favorites.
The spinoff was first announced in 2023. Zak Penn and joins Big Bang creators Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady writing Stuart. Penn wrote the film adaptation of Ready Player One, Free Guy and two X-Men movies. He is also one of the original writers of Last Action Hero and the 2012 Marvel team-up The Avengers.
Big Bang spinoff Young Sheldon aired on CBS. Its own spinoff Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage currently airs on CBS.

Julie Chen Moonves names the top 25 'Big Brother 'moments from the first 25 years

On July 5, 2000 — exactly 25 years ago today — a cultural oddity was unleashed onto the public at large. Coming hot off the heels of the instant pop-culture phenomenon that was Survivor, which premiered just a month prior, Big Brother was expected to be CBS' next big reality competition franchise. Instead, the first season of the series that locked strangers in a house together until only one was left to claim the $500,000 prize was an almost instant disaster plagued by drama-adverse public voting, yawn-worthy studio segments with guests such as AOL Online Advisor Regina Lewis, and random time-fillers like forcing contestants to write and perform lyrics to the show's theme song. (I highly recommend you relive those baffling decisions and more right here.) But instead of canceling the series after a regrettable first season, the network surprised everybody by completely retooling the show and bringing it back for a make-or-break season 2. And the rest is history. Granted, a history filled with a showtune-loving clam named Otev and a sassy, wisecracking robot called the Zingbot… but a history nonetheless. In honor of Big Brother's 25th anniversary, and to celebrate the incredible staying power of everyone's favorite summer guilty pleasure — season 27 kicks off July 10 — we asked master of ceremonies Julie Chen Moonves to pick out the top 25 moments from the past 25 years, and let's just say you should expect the… well, you know. Big Brother went from America voting out the houseguests to the housemates voting out their own with weekly competitions to have ultimate power as Head of Household. Amazing! The Cookout makes it to final 6 in season 23. The season 5 twin twist revealed Adria and Natalie both entering the house to play individual games. Dan holding his own funeral in season 14 saved his game. Marcellas doesn't use the Golden Power of Veto (a brand-new power introduced this season) to save himself and gets evicted in season 3. Taylor winning Big Brother season 24 after being the underdog all summer. She became the first Black female to win the game in a normal season. (Tamar Braxton won season 2 of Celebrity Big Brother.) Angela calling out Matt as 'crazy eyes' in season 26 and damaging her standing with others in front of the whole house. Dr. Will and Mike Boogie's Diary Room sessions from season 7 (All-Stars), calling each other on the phone while seated next to one another (wearing the eye masks, in particular). Every time Janelle won a competition in season 7. She is the original Big Brother competition beast. Nakomis and Cowboy finding out they are siblings in season 5. Britney and Matt getting caught with Rachel's hair extensions in season 12. Oooops! When Dan voted out Shane in season 14, completing one of the biggest blindsides ever. After nominee Chicken George wins the veto on season 7, assuring his safety, Will knows he's going to be stuck on the block for eviction and devises one of the best speeches ever witnessed on Big Brother. He promises to throw every competition for the rest of the summer if they keep him around, and you know what? It worked. The Friendship vs Sovereign alliance divide. Janelle, Howie, Kaysar, and James vs. Maggie, Eric, Ivette, Beau, Jennifer, and April as power shifted every week. Father and estranged daughter Dick and Danielle reunite in the Big Brother house for season 8 and end up taking first and second place despite their differences. What started as a birthday celebration for Keesha in season 10 escalated into a massive house argument. The tension-filled evening ended with a half-hearted "Happy Birthday" and the memorable line, 'Anyone want cake?' Jeff Schroeder made one of the show's most iconic moves in season 11 by using the fan-voted Coup d'État power to overthrow the Head of Household's nominations moments before a live eviction. He shocked the house by removing Lydia and Russell from the block and nominating Jessie and Natalie instead, targeting the dominant alliance that had controlled the game for weeks. Jessie was evicted in a blindside, flipping the season's power dynamic and cementing Jeff's place as a fan favorite. Though some questioned whether the move was emotional or strategic, it changed the course of the game and remains one of the most memorable twists in Big Brother history. The season 26 veto meeting when Tucker chooses not to save himself and instead saves a shocked Angela. Head of Household Cedric then nominates Makensy in her place. Tucker then declares the veto meeting is adjourned, but Makensy stands up and says 'actually it's not' and shocks her housemates by saving herself with her secret power… America's veto! The gobsmacked house then gets more shocking news: that America will choose the replacement nominee and it won't be revealed until live show night right before the nominees will compete in the BBAI arena for safety. This scene was one for the history books! Janelle's iconic 'Bye bye, bitches!' moment happened in season 6 right after Kaysar was evicted for the second time. Furious at the betrayal, she won the next HOH competition, grabbed the key, and declared, 'Give me that key, bitches! Bye bye, bitches!' — instantly cementing her legend status. After pretending to stay loyal to the Chilltown legacy, Ian blindsided Mike Boogie — who had mentored him during season 14 —in one of the most satisfying betrayals in Big Brother history. Though she didn't win, Cirie (a Survivor legend) entered Big Brother season 25 secretly alongside her son Jared and manipulated alliances, relationships, and house targets without anyone knowing her true game résumé — until it was too late. Nakomis backdooring Jase with the 'Six-Finger Plan' in season 5 was the first true backdoor in Big Brother history. Nakomis and her alliance orchestrated a flawless plan to get rid of competition beast Jase — and he never saw it coming. Britney was convinced she was going to final three with Lane and Enzo in season 12 — until they cut her at final four. Her exit interview was full of disbelief and crushed hope. After winning HOH for the second time in season 12, Rachel Reilly says, 'Floaters, you better grab a life vest.' Pause. 'Kristen.' She coined one of Big Brother's most quoted and famous sayings. She called out and criticized housemates that she saw as cowards who weren't actively playing the game and were instead floating along with dominant alliances. Frankie Grande was forced to compete alone in a two person Battle of the Block Competition when his teammate Caleb abandoned him and sat out. The whole house turned on Frankie and was against him. Despite his slim chances of claiming victory, he miraculously won against Donny and Zach. This saved his game! Read the original article on Entertainment Weekly

Why Isn't Tracy Ifeachor Returning for ‘The Pitt' Season 2?

If you're a fan of The Pitt, then you're no stranger to being emotionally destroyed by your television. And while it may come as a shock seeing as how the HBO Max hit isn't currently on the air, the show's most recent plot twist has fans reeling: Tracy Ifeachor isn't returning to The Pitt for season 2. Not only that, but reports suggest she didn't even choose to leave. Tracy played Dr. Heather Collins, a hard-working senior resident, in season 1 of the medical drama. News of her departure from the show was confirmed earlier this week, with sources telling TVLine that not bringing back Tracy for season 2 was a creative decision, not the result of a scheduling conflict or anything personal. Tracy hasn't directly commented on the news, but a day before it was confirmed that she wouldn't be returning to the show, she posted a message of gratitude on her Instagram alongside a video of a For Your Consideration event supporting the show. 'What a blessing to be a part of this first and foundational season of #ThePitt on @hbomax,' she wrote in part. 'It was an absolute privilege to play Dr. Heather Collins in such a groundbreaking season and piece.' Dr. Collins brought a lot to The Pitt—which takes place over the course of one day in an emergency room—as a doctor working while going through a miscarriage. She also had a romantic past with The Pitt protagonist, Dr. Robby, played by Noah Wyle, and fans had hoped to see their relationship continue to evolve in the show's second season. That said, just because Dr. Collins won't be in season 2 of The Pitt doesn't mean she won't pop up on the series in the future. According to a report from Us Weekly, the original plan was to have Tracy return to the show for season 2, and a source told the magazine that, as far as the actor knows, there weren't 'any doors being closed' on a possible return in the future. For now, I'll choose to believe we'll see Dr. Collins in the ER again. And in the meantime, fans can get their fix by rewatching The Pitt season 1 on HBO Max.
