Gen Z shun 'patronising' pet names like 'darling' and 'love' - is YOUR favourite on the list?
Dismissing the terms of endearment as outdated, up to 38 per cent of youngsters named 'treacle' the most annoying nickname, closely followed by 'chick', 'sugar' and 'hon'.
In new findings undertaken by soft drink manufacturer Coca-Cola, almost a third (28 per cent) said they would never use the terms 'muffin' or 'bubba', while up to 25 per cent were critical of the term 'duck'.
Meanwhile, other much-loved traditional pet names such as 'darling' and 'love' were also deemed to be the most patronising by a respective 21 per cent and 13 per cent of the surveyed under-30s.
Instead, Gen Z are opting for more 'modern terms of affection', with their new vocabulary including unique terms such as 'bro' (favoured by 53 per cent), 'mate' (44 per cent), and 'bestie' (at 35 per cent).
Others that rank in the top 20 Gen-Z nickname list include 'queen', 'day one', 'bae' and 'squad'.
Alongside being highly critical of the old-fashioned nature of traditional pet names, the research revealed that up to 20 per cent of Gen Z believe that having an individual nickname, rather than being described by a generic pet name, allows them to feel more valued within their friendship group.
Likewise, one in ten (12 per cent) of the under-30s also admitted that being given a nickname allows them to feel more secure.
Up to 15 per cent indicated that they had been called their pet names in front of their boss, with 93 per cent of young Brits stating that they deem nicknames to be a unique way of showing affection.
The findings come as Coca-Cola are set to relaunch their 'Share a Coke' campaign, allowing customers to create a can with any name of their choice from May 15.
However, in a unique twist, for the first time Brits will now be able to select a can personalised with a range of Gen Z-friendly nicknames and phrases such as 'My Bestie', 'My Bae', 'My Mate', 'My Fam' and 'My Day One'.
Reflecting on the changing nature of nicknames amongst Gen Z, Charlotte Butt, Senior Marketing Manager at Coca Cola, said: 'Nicknames reflect the unique relationships between individuals and the evolution of language within friendship groups.'

Wimbledon fan swaps traditional strawberries and cream for Domino's dip, sparking debate
A Wimbledon spectator sparked a lively debate at the prestigious London tournament by forgoing the traditional cream with their strawberries in favour of Domino's Garlic and Herb Dip instead. The tennis fan caused quite a stir in the Wimbledon queue, boldly dipping the cherished strawberries into a pot of Domino's dip. Clara Jennings, 29, from Guildford, turned heads among fellow spectators as she tucked into her unusual snack while waiting to enter the globally renowned tennis event. Defending her unconventional choice, she explained: "Everyone does cream - I wanted something different. Sweet, savoury, and a little bit weird... but it works!" "I brought it as a bit of a laugh, but honestly, people loved it. I think I've started something." Her unique combination elicited various responses from onlookers. One tennis fan remarked: "I had to double take when I saw it, but I think it's pretty gross. Strawberries and cream are a match made in heaven - this dip should be reserved for pizza, and only pizza." Yet others were curious enough to give it a go. Jennifer Holmes, hailing from London, said: "I'm all for the sweet and savoury mix. Someone has to start the trend. "Take peanut butter and jelly for example, that started with confusion but then went on to take the world by storm." At Wimbledon, it is estimated that fans consume over 1.9 million strawberries each year, which translates to a staggering 200,000 servings enjoyed throughout the Championships. Yet Wimbledon's classic strawberries and cream could be facing fierce competition from this new unexpected contender: strawberries paired with Garlic and Herb Dip, sparking a quirky new trend. The unconventional combination could potentially put a dent in the 7,000 litres of cream traditionally used to accompany the strawberries. Notably, the price of a serving of strawberries and cream has remained a steady £2.50 since 2010, making it a sweet deal for tennis fans. However, in recent years, Wimbledon has introduced a plant-based cream option for vegan spectators, available at select outlets around the grounds. A spokesperson for Domino's, said: "When this popped up on our Instagram, it was the first time we've seen someone enjoying our dip with strawberries! "How people enjoy our Garlic and Herb Dip is up to them - after all, lots of strange combinations were only strange until someone tried them. "Perhaps next year we'll see raspberries dipped into BBQ Sauce, or bananas drizzled with Honey and Mustard. Brits are renowned for their sense of individualism, and there's nothing more British than Wimbledon, so keep your eyes peeled."

Brits predict Oasis tour fallout as almost half think Liam and Noel won't see it through
The famously feuding brothers have called a truce - but for how long? Oasis are kicking off their reunion tour tomorrow, Friday, July 4, in Cardiff. It is the first of 19 shows that will see roughly 1,543,889 fans rejoice at the chance to see Noel and Liam Gallagher perform live. This tour marks the first time in 15 years when the brothers' break-up shook the music world way back in 2009. The musicians will grace Edinburgh's Murrayfield stadium for three shows in August, where around 80,000 bucket hats worth of beer is expected to be drunk. But as fans rejoice at the Gallaghers' reunion, many are sceptical of whether or not their rocky relationship will last the length of the summer tour. In fact, almost half of Brits polled don't think the pair's relationship will last until the end of the shows. According to a new survey from Betfair Slots, 55 per cent of Brits believe the once-feuding siblings will see the concert tour through without the start of another feud, but 45 per cent think the brothers are headed for another huge falling out. However, when it comes to the reunion itself, 55 per cent of respondents expressed their excitement, saying they're happy to see the brothers back together, but less than half (48%) believe the tour will live up to the hype. With rumours swirling about the possible tour setlist, it seems that Don't Look Back In Anger is the song most fans want to hear from the Gallagher brothers, topping the list as people's favourite. Over half of respondents (56%) named the track - written by Noel and released in 1996 - as their all-time favourite Oasis hit. It was followed by one of the band's best-known songs, Wonderwall (40%), with Morning Glory coming in third (26%). Meanwhile, (What's the Story) Morning Glory? took the top spot for favourite Oasis album, with 37 per cent of the vote. Released in October 1995, the album was Oasis 's second studio record and featured some of their standout tracks, including Don't Look Back In Anger, Wonderwall, Roll With It, and She's Electric. A leaked version of the possible setlist was posted on Twitter earlier this week, as fans anticipate the Gallaghers' return. One fan took to X, formally known as Twitter, to share the songs they overheard outside the stadium. Posing a video of the Gallagher brothers rehearsing, the message read: "SPOILER ALERT. SETLIST SO FAR PER REHEARSAL LEAKS..." The post continued to list: Rock n Roll Star Bring it on Down Hello, Fade Away Whatever The Masterplan Slide Away Cast No Shadow Some Might Say Don't Look Back in Anger Live Forever Roll With It Cigs and Alcohol Champagne Supernova However not everyone in the replies were happy with the setlist, as one fan stated: "No Lyla? No Acquiesce? Everything is from the first two albums WTF." Another showed their disappointment, writing: "Massively disappointing if that's the set. They have so many great tunes outside of Definitely Maybe & (What's the Story) Morning Glory." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community!
