Siddaramaiah asks Gadkari to reschedule foundation laying ceremony for Shivamogga National Highway project
He said that he was not consulted before the finalisation of the project's dedication and foundation ceremony on July 14, despite his name being included in the draft invitation card.
'I have not been intimated about this programme in advance, and an inauguration programme of various developmental schemes is already scheduled under my Chairmanship in Indi Taluka, Vijyapura District on the same day,' Siddaramaiah said in a letter.
Asking Gadkari to instruct his department to coordinate while organising such events, the CM said that it would have been 'appropriate' for the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) to have consulted with the Karnataka government before scheduling the state-level programs.
'It would have been more appropriate for MoRTH to have consulted with the State Government before scheduling the State Level programmes. Therefore, I request you to instruct the department to coordinate with the state government while organising such programmes. Also, I request you to postpone this programme and provide me a couple of dates convenient to you, so that I would be able to join you in this significant state-level programme,' the letter read.
This comes as the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, along with the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), was organising a 'Dedication to Nation and Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony' program on July 14 at Nehru Field in Shimoga district.
Earlier, the NHAI further strengthened its policy to immediately report and blacklist 'loose FASTags', commonly known as 'tag-in-hand', to ensure smooth tolling operations, the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways said in a release.
With the move, the authority has further streamlined its policy for the Toll Collecting Agencies and Concessionaires to immediately report 'loose FASTags'.
In view of upcoming initiatives like the Annual Pass System and Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) tolling, it is critical to address this issue to ensure FASTag authenticity and system reliability, the release stated.
FASTags are sometimes deliberately not fixed on the windscreen of the vehicle by the owners. Such practices pose operational challenges leading to lane congestion, generation of false chargebacks, misuse in closed loop tolling system, causing overall disruption of the Electronic Toll Collection framework, resulting in unnecessary delays at toll plazas and inconvenience to other National Highway users, it highlighted.
To ensure timely corrective measures, NHAI has provided a dedicated email ID and has directed the Toll Collection Agencies and Concessionaires to immediately report such FASTags.Based on the reports received, NHAI will take immediate action to initiate blacklisting/hotlisting of the reported FASTags. Achuthanandan, the former chief minister of Kerala, died at 3.20 pm on Monday while undergoing treatment in the critical care unit of Pattom SUT Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. He had been receiving treatment since June 23, following a cardiac arrest. 'Shri V S Achuthanandan (1923-2025) was a steadfast voice for justice and the common good throughout his long public life. He remained true to his principles-in struggles on the ground and in positions of power, including as Chief Minister of Kerala (2006-2011)," Siddaramaiah said in a post on 'X'. 'His passing is a great loss. Condolences to his family, the people of Kerala, and all who drew strength from his life. Salutes to a life well lived," he added. Congress leaders slam BJP, JDS for targeting Karnataka CM, wife
BENGALURU: After the Supreme Court upheld the Karnataka High Court decision quashing an ED notice against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's wife Parvathi in the MUDA site allotment case, Congress leaders slammed the BJP and demanded the resignation of Leader of Opposition R Ashoka and BJP State President BY Vijayendra. The CM's legal adviser and Congress MLA Ponnanna said the SC quashed the notice issued to Parvathi Siddaramaiah and minister Byrathi Suresh, as the case does not come under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. 'We have belief in the judicial system. The SC has said not to politicise this. It is applicable to the entire country. They should stop talking if they have any conscience left,'' he said. Ponnanna asked whether Byrathi Suresh was minister when MUDA sites were allotted to Parvathi. 'BJP dragged Parvathi's personal issue into their politics, which is not correct,'' he said. Suresh said that right from the beginning, he had been saying that he, the CM and his wife had no role in in MUDA case. The Supreme Court decision should be a lesson to BJP and JDS leaders for making false allegations. 'Instead, why cannot they go to the people and listen to their woes. The court has warned, now BJP and JDS leaders should be more careful,'' he said, and demanded the resignation of Ashoka and Vijayendra. AICC General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala said BJP manufactured false allegations against CM Siddaramaiah. RDPR and IT-BT Minister Priyank Kharge pointed out that the Supreme Court not only rejected the ED's plea in the MUDA case, but also slammed the central agency for being the puppet of the BJP and pursuing political vendetta.
